Out of the several thousands private BitTorrent trackers out there, very few specialize in niches such as lifestyle content. The Place.bz is one such private tracker. From Food, Drinking and Cooking to Magic Illusions, this tracker has a wide array of content including videos, e-books and audio files related to day to day human life (See categories for more information). The only other private tracker that I know of which specializes in the same niche is BitSeduce (which is closed at time of this post).

Although the content it tracks it may be rare, ThePlace.BZ is by no means a small tracker. It currently tracks over 11000 torrents and has a user base in excess of 15000; these stats are excellent, specially considering the fact that The Place is a private site. The site is currently in open signup mode which means new members can register without invite codes or any other restrictions. Check it out.

Two days ago we reported about Fallout 3, the latest installment to the hugely popular Fallout series. I only had little time to play the game so far but it looks like Bethesda have worked their magic once more. Anyway quite a few people seem to be having trouble getting the game to run. Many have reported that Fallout 3 crashes to desktop right after the start screen. If you encounter similar problems, you can try the following method and hopefully it will help you get the game up and running.

Fallout 3 does seem to have a conflict with FFDShow codecs. You have to either uninstall them from your system or add fallout3.exe to FFDShow audio and video decoders exceptions list. Although you may not know it, FFDShow codecs may be present on your system if you have installed codec packs such as CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack).

How to add Fallout 3 to FFDShow decoder exceptions list

1. Launch the ffdshow video decoder configuration window. You may access this through the start menu. If you have installed any codec packs, check the start menu entries of those. If you can’t find it on the start menu, right click the ffdshow video decoder (red) icon that appears on the taskbar when a supported video file is playing, and select ‘ffdshow video decoder’ option from the menu.

2. Tick the ‘Dont use ffdshow in’ checkbox if not already checked

3. Press the edit button that is next to the text field. A new dialog box will pop up. Press the Add button. The ‘Add incompatible executable file’ dialog box will be displayed. Browse to the Fallout 3 installation directory and locate fallout3.exe file. Select it and press open. Close all dialog boxes currently open by pressing ok.
(OR you can simply type fallout3.exe at the end of the text field next to ‘Dont use ffdshow in’ checkbox)

4.  Repeat steps 2-3 in ffdshow audio decoder configuration (the blue icon in taskbar) window as well. It is important that you add fallout3.exe to both ffdshow audio and video decoder’s expections list.

Hopefully the above method solved the fallout 3 crash to desktop problem for you. If the problem persists, try updating your video drivers. I’ve heard that nVIDIA’s ForceWare v180.42 and v180.43 beta drives run well with this game.

Private Tracker Watch : Learnbits, Cinemageddon and UKNova signups open – 30/10/2008

Scenemovies and Wunza signups open– Gazelle based movie torrent trackers

RELOADED, a veteran group in the warez scene, has done it again. They’ve cracked the DRM in a 2008 EA game for what seems like the billionth time. RELOADED have released a full DVD image of Command & Conquer : Red Alert 3 along with a modified exe that has the SecuROM protection removed. In RELOADED’s release NFO the protection Red Alert 3 uses is listed as Securom+PA+DFE+SDK+ Custom. It would not be wrong to say that the scene (and DarkC0der) is currently raping SecuROM. It did not take RELOADED more than a few hours to crack the DRM after the Clone DVD was leaked. Even scene group SKIDROW who usually release low budget games pre’d their own version of Red Alert 3 (With DRM cracked of course) moments after RELOADED’s release. Not good news for SecuROM devs.

Speaking of the game, Red Alert 3 is of course a highly anticipated title given the popularity of the previous two installments. I have not had a chance to play this game yet but the reviews look positive. This game has a aggregated score of 84% on Gamerankings and IGN gave it 8.2 out of 10. Just like the previous two games in the franchise, there seem to be a lot of high quality video content (60mins of HD video as I hear) in the game. Perhaps this explains the large size (for a strategy game that is) of 6.2GB.

Pirates crack ‘Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3’ (PC) DRM

Full DVD images (aka Clone DVD) of EA’s upcoming Real Time Strategy (RTS) game Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 have leaked to several BitTorrent trackers. The leaked image (which is around 6.6GB in size) seem to have support for two languages; English and Chinese. There are several other versions floating around in a well known warez forum as well.  As we said before these images seem to be untouched copies of the game and no modified exe (aka crack) is provided. Pirates who download the clone will not be able to play the game as it is protected by SecuROM DRM.

The SecuROM DRM however will not hold off pirates forever. EA has embedded SecuROM 7.1 in all of their recent PC titles and every single one of them was cracked either by a group from the warez scene such as RELOADED or by non scene individuals such as Darkc0der. As it stands now it will only be a matter of time a modified exe (that has the SecuROM protection removed) will be released for the game.

According to comments on most gaming forums, it was not only pirates who used these fixed exes for previous EA titles such as Spore. Even those who owned legitimate copies of the game seemed to prefer cracked exes over SecuROM protected files. EA’s decision to embed restrictive DRM into their PC titles perhaps caused more bad than good and it will be interesting to see their next move..

One of the best private torrent trackers out there, Torrent-Damage.net (TD) is currently open for signup. The site’s user limit which was capped at 40000 seem to have been raised to 50000, providing space for new members.

Torrent-Damage is without a doubt one of the best 0Day/General trackers currently online. Great pre times, kick ass download speeds, excellent content; that’s TD for you. Currently there are 41000+ registered users and 26000+ torrents on this tracker. These stats are excellent by any means, and don’t forget that TD is a private tracker. Torrent-Damage has a requests feature where members can request uploads not available on the tracker via the site’s forums. The only con we found with this tracker is that it has somewhat of an awkward interface (some may disagree). But that’s not an issue if you are looking to download latest (and old) scene and p2p movie, music, games, TV series releases at blazing speeds as TD will provide you just that.

As we said before Torrent-Damage tends to close signups very quickly. Things may be different this time around as they seem to have raised the site’s user limit from 40000 to 50000. We don’t know if signups will be open till this user limit is reached (if they will that means there are around 9000 spots left) so to be on the safe side register an account ASAP. When the site is closed the only way in is by providing a ticket number obtained from an existing member. Torrent-Damage (TD) signups open – User limit increased to 50000

We’re talking about the Quantum of Solace video game here (not the upcoming movie). The PC version of the game has leaked to internet two days before the EU release date and around 6 days before the NA (North American) release. As usual, RELOADED, a group in the warez scene is behind the leak. Quantum of Solace uses a custom version of Safedisk 4.9 protection coupled with zeehole. RELOADED have released a modified exe which has the copy protection features removed and it can be used to play pirated and legitimate backup copies of the game. RELOADED have cracked the latest versions of almost all major copy protection systems such as SecuRom, SafeDisk and TAGES. 

Speaking of the game, one thing that caught my eye was that it uses a customized version of Call of Duty 4 engine. There are currently no reviews of the game so I don’t know how it actually is but from the previews and screenshots it looks like a damn fun game.

BTW there was a time during which no single good game was released and now all of the sudden there is this flood of hit titles. Red Alert 3 and GTA 4 (PC) are still to be released. Good times :)

Private Tracker Watch: ChildBytes, Zamunda.NET and XBOX-SKY signups open

Pirates have cracked the SecuROM DRM that comes embedded with North American version of highly anticipated Fallout 3. Fallout 3 used a somewhat less intrusive version of SecuROM, a DRM system that has been highly criticized by gamers across the world. Fallout 3 however does not use the controversial and restrictive version of SecuROM which requires online activation. Instead, it uses a version of SecuROM which is bundled with the game’s installer and which only has a DVD check.

Group responsible for cracking SecuROM in Fallout 3 are once again RELOADED who have cracked several other SecuROM protected games released this month. Fallout 3 was susceptible for leaks from the beginning and the XBOX360 version of the game got leaked some 2 weeks before street date. DVD Images (Clone DVDs) of the PC Version got leaked several days before official release as well. The size of RELOADED’s release is around 5.5GB, which is around 2.5GB smaller than the Russian/English Clone (7.9GB) leaked earlier.

Fallout 3 definitely looks like one of the best games to be released in 2008 (if the reviews I read about this game are not lies that is). I’ve never seen an IGN review speak so positively about a game in quite a while. Currently the game has aggregated scores of 92% (XBOX360), 90% (PC) and 89% (PS3) on Gamerankings.

Pirates crack Fallout 3 (English) DRM

I don’t know if anyone noticed this but you don’t actually need to fill the captcha while logging into TorrentLeech (TL). Whether this is intentional on the part of TL’s admins or if this is simply a site bug remains to be seen. Whatever it is, you can type username, password, leave the captcha field blank and still log into the tracker.

Private Tracker Watch: TheVault.BZ Signups open

A short while ago we reported that a Clone DVD image of Spiderman : Web of Shadows got leaked by scene group PROCYON. It did not take RELOADED, another veteran groups in the warez scene, to develop a modified executable with the Safedisk copy protection removed. With RELOADED’s release, pirates (or legitimate gamers who use the modified exe) no longer need to have the Clone DVD image mounted in a drive emulation tool. Pirates crack ‘Spiderman : Web of Shadows’ (PC) copy protection

They keep on coming don’t they? A Clone DVD of Spider Man : Web of Shadows (PC) got leaked a short while ago. Scene group PROCYON were responsible for the leak. This release being a Clone DVD, does not include any modified executables that bypass or crack the copy protection embedded in the game (This game uses the Safedisk copy protection system). However the image can be mounted on a drive emulation tool such as Daemon Tools and the game can be played as long as the user has the image mounted on their system.

Speaking of the game, I sincerely hope Web of Shadows will be a good title as most Spiderman games for the PC (except Ultimate Spiderman) sucked big time. XBOX360 version of the game has received a rating of 72% on Gamerankings and PS3 version has received a rating of 77%. This may actually be worth checking out, if a similar score holds for the PC as well.

Clone DVD of ‘Spider Man : Web of Shadows’ (PC) leaked

bitGAMER, a popular dedicated games torrent tracker, has just opened signups for new members. This tracker will be a good alternative to those who lost their accounts at Blackcats-Games recently. bitGAMER will not be quite the same as BCG but it definitely is an ideal tracker to have, specially during these times when a lot of great games are being released. It is also an excellent games tracker to have for any gamer who uses BitTorrent to download games.

bitGAMER signups open – Download PC/XBOX360/PS3/PS2/XBOX and other games torrents

Full Contact Zone (FCZ) is a private torrent tracker which indexes and tracks a lot of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), UFC (Ultimate Fighting Champion) and other sports content (we do have a lot of sports trackers open right now don’t we?). FCZ has a great user base and most of the torrents are well seeded with some of the torrents having more than 1000 seeders. Private Tracker Watch: Full Contact Zone (FCZ) signups open (MMA/UFC/Sports Torrents)

A DVD image of highly anticipated Fallout 3 has leaked to internet about a day before the game’s official North American release date. The image, which weighs around 5.5GB, has already made its way to an extremely popular semi-private BitTorrent tracker and will most likely spread to other trackers as well as to one click hosting sites across the world. As with most Clone DVDs, this release does not include a modified exe with copy protection removed (aka crack) but does include a seemingly untouched image of the game DVD.

Although Bethseda hinted that the game will be DRM free, it does not appear that way. SecuROM DRM seems to be bundled with the install process of the game (which is similar to that of Oblivion’s) but in a much less intrusive scale than other DRM enabled games such as Spore or Mass Effect. Perhaps Bethseda had a change of heart when the XBOX360 version of Fallout 3 leaked around two weeks before the release date :p

The inclusion of DRM however means that pirates who download the Clone DVD will not be able to play the game unless a scene group such as RZR, RLD, VTY or an individual such as DarkC0der releases a fix that removes the protection.

3 Sports torrent trackers (Sportbit, Sport-Scene, Extremebits) open for signup – 26/10/2008

Suddenly remembered this when I posted the last movie release a while ago. This post will mostly apply to those who use public BitTorrent trackers to download movies. As you may have already found out, public bittorrent trackers are full of fakes and mislabeled releases (I.e. – On the title it says DVDRip but it turns out to be a crappy CAM). So how can you check the quality of a movie before you actually download it?

First (of course most of you already know this), you can look for the sample.avi file which is included in most scene releases. This is a small file (10-15MB file size) which contains a video sample of the movie being downloaded. You can give high priority to this file using you BT client, download it and watch the quality before you download the entire movie.

But what if the release does not contain a sample.avi file? It’s simple; you can check for screen caps of the release on VCD Quality. 

VCD Quality is a site which indexes latest movie leases both by scene groups and p2p groups. Not only does it index the latest releases but also includes the release .NFO, screen captures from the release (JPG button next to a release name), any nuke information (yellow biohazard icon next to a release name), user comments and user ratings on video, audio and movie itself. As a bonus VCD Quality lists generated search strings you can use to search for movie subtitles (from opensubtitles.org), CD/DVD covers (from cdcovers.cc) and IMDB links for movie ratings and movie trailers as well. As you can see it gives you a lot of information on the movie and the release not available on most public torrent sites so check it out.

An R5 rip of popular movie Burn After Reading has leaked to internet. Veteran scene group PUKKA is behind the leak. PUKKA have obtained the video source from an R5 (DVD for region 5), and replaced the Russian audio with an English audio stream from previous TS release. The rip is a standard 1CD (700MB) rip and you can see screens and other information from this link.

I have not watch this movie yet but it has a star studded cast including Brad Pitt and George Clooney. The movie has a decent score of 7.8 on IMDB. 

Burn After Reading is a 2008 black comedy film written, produced and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. The film stars John Malkovich, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand and Brad Pitt. It was released in the USA on September 12, 2008 and it was released on October 17, 2008 in the UK. The R-rated film had its premiere on August 27, 2008 when it opened the 2008 Venice Film Festival. The film is the brothers' first to follow their Academy Award winning Best Picture, No Country for Old Men.

R5 rip of ‘Burn After Reading’ leaked

Ace Torrents (AceT), a good private torrent tracker for general content, is currently open for signup. Usually you need an invite to get into this tracker but you may join without one in open signup periods such as this (which will not last forever btw). Ace Torrents currently tracks a little over 4000 torrents ( Software, Games, Movies, Ebooks, etc – scene releases as well as non scene releases) and has a user base of around 4200 members. Pre times on this tracker seem to be pretty good.

Version 7.1.7 of jetAudio (aka Cowon Media Center) was released only recently and we already have a new build. V7.1.8 apparently fixes several minor problems such as disc did not starting playback when using Play Disc button, wrong skin file being inserted, etc.  The PLUS VX version of the player (featured in this post) offers several new features over the basic version such as UUE and UUE VIVA audio enhancement packs.

Underground-Gamer signups open – 25/10/2008

Darkc0der has done it again. Another major SecuROM protected title cracked by this non scene ‘one man cracking powerhouse’. Darkc0der has released a modified paul.dll file for EA’s Dead Space, which has the SecuROM DRM removed. Using the fixed dll allows legitimate players and pirates alike to play the game without online activation and get rid of any other DRM limitations. Apparently Darkc0der’s fix works with the previously leaked Clone DVD release as well. The following lines are quoted from the .NFO:

"Darkc0der: Gladly I was faster than razor1911 this time."

Indeed he was.

Darkc0der cracks Dead Space DRM

A DVD image of EA’s survival horror game Dead Space has leaked to private torrent trackers and one click hosting sites across the world. The leaked image which is 7.43GB in size, seems to be an untouched clone of the original DVD which has support for multiple languages (English, Russian, Hungary, Czech, Polish).

Pirates who download this release will be able to install the game but will not be able to play the game as it is protected by controversial SecuROM DRM. This is a similar situation to which arose with Far Cry 2, where a Clone DVD of the game got leaked first and then scene group Razor1911 released a modified executable with DRM removed which allowed pirates to play the game without having to activate online. It is highly likely that Dead Space’s DRM too will be cracked soon by a scene group or by a non scene individual such as DarkC0der.

Dead Space comes bundled with SecuRom 7 DRM which was used in previous EA titles such as Spore and Mass Effect. Apart from forcing online activation , SecuROM limits the maximum number of installations available per copy of the game. Sooner or later all these titles got cracked by Scene groups such as RELOADED as well as by individuals such as Darkc0der who released SecuRom free versions of the game. Even legitimate players ended up using the cracked releases due to the controversial nature of SecuROM which ultimately earned EA a class action lawsuit.

Clone DVD of EA’s Dead Space (PC) leaked

Trancebooster (TRB) is a popular trance music tracker which is currently open for new signups. The site currently has just under 3000 users and tracks 2900+ torrents. Majority of these torrents are music albums of the trance genre (See categories below for more information). Trancebooster – Trance music tracker signups open

The Peer Hub (TPH) is a private torrent tracker which tracks general and 0Day torrents. You can find scene and p2p released movies, games, ebooks, music, appz and more on this tracker. Pre times and download speeds are average. TPH currently tracks over 4500 torrents. One thing I noticed was that they have a lot of XBOX/XBOX360 related unique packs:

After seeing the screenshot, don’t get the impression that TPH is a XBOX games tracker. As said above it’s a general tracker which happens to have a lot of XBOX packs among others. There is no visible invite system on TPH so the only way in seem to be through open signup periods. It’s open now for new users so interested readers may join for free.

The Peer Hub signups open – 25/10/2008

Scene group PROCYON who are best known for their Clone DVD’s have released an image of Bully: Scholarship Edition for the PC moments ago. The Clone DVD can be mounted using a disk emulation tool such as Daemon Tools and apparently the game can be played without a modified exe. The following is from PROCYON’s NFO:

CloneDVD of Bully: Scholarship Edition (PC) leaked

Lots of good games have been released this month and there are a few great titles to come out in the next few weeks as well (Dead Space, GTA 4 (PC), Fallout3, etc). Some good news if you are planning to download these off the internet. Private Tracker Watch: TV-Vault and Wunza.ws signups open

A DVDRip of popular animated movie Kung Fu Panda has leaked to UseNet newsgroups, BitTorrent trackers, one click hosting sites and FTP sites around the world. Scene group ARROW is responsible for the leak. According to ARROW’s NFO the release has 916kbps DVD Quality video and 129kbps variable bit rate MP3 audio and comes as a standard 1CD (700MB) rip. Although there is no mention of the source of the rip, it’s probably an R1 DVD given the quality of the sample. For screens, NFO and more information visit this link.

Kung Fu Panda has an IMDB rating of 7.9 which is impressive for any movie. Looks like DreamWorks got their act together with this one after a few mediocre titles. 

Kung Fu Panda is an American animated comedy film released in 2008. It was directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne and produced by Melissa Cobb. The film was produced by DreamWorks Animation's studio in Glendale, California and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film stars the voices of Jack Black as the panda, Po, along with Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, David Cross, and Ian McShane. Set in ancient China, the plot revolves around a bumbling panda who aspires to be a kung fu master. After a much feared warrior escapes from prison, Po is foretold to be the Dragon Warrior, much to the chagrin of the resident kung fu warriors. Dreamworks is working on a sequel to Kung Fu Panda, which is currently in pre-production.

Audio Zone Torrents signups open - Audio Appz, Sound Effects, Tutorials and more

Played Far Cry 2 for a few hours and loved it although there is nothing related to the original Far Cry. On my machine with C2D E8400, 3GB RAM and 8600GT VGA, I could play the game on very high settings with no hiccups at all; something I did not expect given my aging video card. For those interested in the game, here is a way to unlock some promotional bonus missions in the game which are not enabled unless you pre ordered it from GameStop.

I’m not quite sure how these work but from what I have gathered, there are four hidden buddies in the game and you can get a total of 6 new missions from them if you have bonus content enabled. Again I have not played this game that far so I really can’t confirm when or where you will get to play the bonus missions.

How to enable Far Cry 2 bonus content:

1. Load the game
2. Once on the main menu, click Additional Content
3. Click Promotional Content. You will be asked for a password.
4. Enter SpujeN7x and press accept. You will get the message “You have successfully unlocked the missions”.

There is another code floating around the net which also works. I don’t know if it unlocks the same content as the above code or a set of different missions. If you want to give it a try the code is tar3QuzU

jetAudio Plus VX 7.1.7

One Big Torrent is a torrent tracker and an index which lists torrents related to Current Affairs, News, Talks, Politics, Interviews and other similar content. You can find torrents of TV Series, Videos, Audiobooks, E-Books and Magazines under the categories mentioned above. One Big Torrent – Documentary, Current Affairs and Ebook torrent index

Yep. The one of oldest groups in the PC game scene have come back to show everyone how it’s done. Razor1911 claims to have cracked the Securom DRM protection in Far Cry 2 and have released a modified executable along with an ISO image of the full game. It seems that this modified exe will work with the previously leaked CloneDVD; The sizes of both are almost identical (both around 3.7GB).

Razor1911 (RZR) cracks Far Cry 2 DRM protection

Yahoo! Messenger v9.0.0.2018 Final – Offline standalone installer download

Scene group HEFTY pre’d this release around 10 minutes ago. This is the 3rd DVD Screener (DVDSCR) HEFTY have released in the past week (First two being Pineapple Express and Step Brothers). They sure seem to be having access to a great inside source.  The release is standard 1CD (700MB) and has decent picture quality as per the sample. Expect this to be downloaded heavily as it makes its way onto public trackers soon, given the huge popularity of the movie.

Tropic Thunder has an IMDB rating of 7.7 which is decent by any means.

Tropic Thunder is a 2008 action comedy film produced and directed by Ben Stiller and written by Stiller, Justin Theroux, and Etan Cohen. The film stars Stiller, Jack Black and Robert Downey Jr. as a group of prima donna actors making a Vietnam War film when their fed-up writer and director decide to abandon them in the middle of the jungle, forcing them to fight their way out.

DVD Screener of Tropic Thunder leaked

While everybody is waiting for a fix for Far Cry 2, RELOADED have silently pre’d this latest installment to the NBA 2K series. What’s interesting about this release is that NBA 2K9 is distributed via Steam content delivery system. It does not seem that this has bothered RELOADED; they’ve created their own installer for the game and released it to scene topsites moments ago.

NBA 2K9

HD-Bits.Ro, which is one of the best private torrent trackers out there for for HD content, is back online after several days of downtime. This tracker suffered from frequent downtimes due to DDOS attacks and whatnot, but hopefully these should be problems of the past now that they have moved to a new ISP. As for the content, HD-Bits.Ro is a private tracker dealing exclusively with High Definition content. There is currently an index of over 2500 torrents on this tracker. This includes HD Movies, HDTV Shows, high quality x264 encodes, Blu-Ray rips and more. Apart from the HD video content, there are around 500 torrents in ‘Lossless Music’ category. HD-Bits.Ro – Back online with open signups – HD Torrents Tracker

A DVD Screener of the popular 2008 comedy movie Step Brothers has leaked to internet. Scene group HFFTY are behind the leak. This is the second DVDSCR leaked by HEFTY this week, first one being Pineapple Express. The video and audio quality are decent for a DVDSCR and there are no watermarks or countdown timers visible in the caps.

I have not watched Step Brothers yet but it seems to be a nice comedy flick with a decent IMDB rating. 

 

Step Brothers is a 2008 comedy film directed by Adam McKay, produced by Judd Apatow and starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly, who last teamed up in Talladega Nights (2006). The film was released on July 25, 2008. The screenplay was written by Ferrell and McKay, from a story written by Ferrell, McKay and Reilly. Jimmy Miller and Judd Apatow are the two producers of the film. The film will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on December 2nd, 2008.

The film has been rated R by the MPAA for "crude and sexual content, and pervasive language."

DVD Screener of Step Brothers leaked

Zinebytes is a private torrent tracker of Swedish origin. This tracker specializes in E-Learning content/E-Books and tracks quite a lot of content in this niche. There is some bad news for non Swedish users though. From signup page to the user interface, everything is in Swedish. But if you are familiar with private trackers, you should be able to find your way easily as the layout is similar to most other trackers (See translation below if you are stuck). Zinebytes does track a lot of English content apart from Swedish torrents. You can find the English torrents on categories with/Eng at the end (i.e. Eböcker/Eng is for English E-Books).

AOMKILLER (AOMK) signups open – For Magic Torrents

It is not everyday that a workprint of a movie leaks to the internet. But a workprint of Pineapple express has leaked to internet before the official DVD release. Initial release of this was by Stuffies  (STG – a P2P group) yesterday but it was labeled as a Screener instead of a Workprint. So far there have been as much as 6 PROPER s and REENCODES of this release from groups KingBen, SATURN, PLUTO and WoLF. Picture quality seems decent but not as good as a DVDRip or R5. Also there is a countdown timer and a moving watermark present on screen as well  occasional black and white scenes. For screens and more info on these releases, click here.

Pineapple Express is a 2008 action comedy stoner film directed by David Gordon Green, written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and starring Seth Rogen and James Franco. Producer Judd Apatow, who previously worked with Rogen and Goldberg on Knocked Up and Superbad, assisted in developing the story, which was partially inspired by the buddy comedy subgenre. The film was originally set for release August 8, 2008, but was changed to August 6, 2008. The movie is rated R in the United States for pervasive language, drug use, sexual references and violence, MA 15+ in Australia for strong drug use and violence, sexual references and coarse language, 15 in the UK for strong drug use and references and violence, coarse language and sexual references, 16 in Ireland and 18A in Canada.

Workprint of Pineapple Express leaked

Razor1911 (RZR) cracks Far Cry 2 DRM protection

A DVD image (aka a CloneDVD) of highly anticipated Far Cry 2 has leaked to several private Bittorent trackers 3 days before the game’s official release date. It appears to be an English only DVD image (not Multilanguage) of Far Cry 2 which weighs around 3.7GB. There is no crack (modified executable) associated with this release that removes the copy protection built into the game; leaked version looks like an untouched DVD Image of the original game.

Far Cry 2 comes bundled with controversial SecuROM DRM and the game needs to be activated online in order to play. This means those who download this image cannot play the single player campaign (unless you have a legitimate copy of the game which is unlikely as the game is not released yet) but they can however play with the map editor. Pirates who download this version will have to wait till a scene group or an individual such as DarkC0der provides a fixed exe with SecuROM protection stripped (as they have done many times before) in order to play the single player campaign.

Sandboxie 3.3.0 – Test suspicious programs in an isolated space

RARBG is a private torrent tracker that tracks general content including scene and non scene releases. It’s a Bulgarian torrent site but non Bulgarian users need not worry as the interface has support for many languages including English. The content too is mostly English. If you are a member of ArenaBG, you’ll notice that the layout is strikingly similar. RARBG is a huge tracker with over 38000 indexed torrents. The only con I found with this tracker is that it does not display seeder/leecher information next to a torrent title. (UPDATE (21/11/2008): RARBG now displays seeder/leecher information next to torrent title. Way to go!)

When it comes to cracking DVD copy protection schemes, Slysoft is one of the best out there. AnyDVD is actually a Windows driver which allows decryption of copy protected DVDs in real time. This also makes the DVDs region free, allowing them to be played on devices in all parts of the world rather than being limited to the targeted region. AnyDVD HD is a version of AnyDVD which can decrypt Blu-Ray discs. AndDVD is capable of removing Macrovision (Analog), Sony ARccOS, RipGuard, BD+ (on Blu-Ray) and other encryption schemes as of version 6.4 of the software.

Slysoft AnyDVD & AnyDVD HD 6.4.6.9 Final

About a month ago we reported about Scenemovies, a new movie tracker using the Gazelle Codebase. Wunza is another band new private torrent tracker specializing in movies and TV shows. Just like scenemovies, Wunza is based on the Gazelle codebase and features a sleek, fast and informative user interface.

Wunza.ws is not an exclusive scene releases tracker. On the rules page it says “SCENE releases are allowed, but we encourage home rips”. Hopefully this should pave way for rare and quality content that is not available on other trackers. Movie torrents currently on Wunza include XViD compressed releases as well as high quality x264 encodes.

Currently Wunza has around 325 active users and 75+ torrents. Before you dump this tracker for the low number of users and torrents, note that it’s just around two weeks since they came online. As the tracker gets more publicity, these stats will definitely go up. There is a user limit of 5000 as well as an invite system in place. The following is from their forums:

Good news for folks who are willing to get into Demonoid semi-private BitTorrent tracker (Specially those who are posting requests in our invitation giveaway threads). Demonoid is currently open for new registrations. That means you can get into the tracker without an invitation code.

With over 185000 indexed torrents and a huge community, Demonoid is without a doubt one of the best BitTorrent trackers on the planet. Demonoid indexes torrents that are tracked using their own tracker (inferno.demonoid.com) as well as those tracked using external tracker such as TPB. The number of fakes on Demonoid is very low and chances are that you’ll spot a fake if you read the comments before download (all thanks to the community). There is a ratio system on this tracker but accounts are not banned/disabled/deleted due to low ratio. This leads to perhaps the only concern with Demonoid; somewhat slow speeds.

Demonoid registrations open - 18/10/2008

There was a previous post with instructions on how to get into GFT but this is a revised version as the process is much simpler now.

GFT (or GFTracker or TheGFT) is a private torrent tracker that has no ratio rules. That means you don’t have to maintain a 1:1 ratio (download:upload ratio – if you download 1GB you have to upload 1GB) like most other private trackers. You however need to seed every torrent for at least 48 hours. This tracker is a godsend for users with low upload speeds as they get to enjoy killer download speeds for even huge torrents with the only requirement being seeding for two days (regardless of the upload speed and the amount you upload). Seeding a torrent gives you bonus points which you can spend to get custom titles and other cool stuff.

GFT currently tracks over 6000 torrents and has a user base of around 1700 members. The pre times on this tracker are nothing short of amazing.  Apart from scene releases, GFT have added several of their own packs (movies pack, TV series packs etc) as well. Only con I found with GFT is some torrents not being seeded well enough. This of course would be rectified as the tracker grows with more members.

The site however is not open for signup. But there is a way to get invited. Read on.

How to get invited

1. [Click Here] to access the GFTracker Invite Channel. Choose a nickname and remember this nickname - you will need this later in filling the questionnaire.
2. You should get a PM from CMiUC with a URL to a questionnaire (sometimes this URL is displayed on the channel topic). By the way CMiUC is a bot so don’t beg for invites or try to engage in conversation with it.
3. There are 5 questions on the questionnaire. Answer them truthfully and pay attention to the 4th question. GFT needs to know they are not inviting a leecher or a cheater in so answer this question (and others, as a mater of fact) clearly and provide the details in the exact format they have asked.
4. Once you are done answering questions, save the complete text and mail the completed questionnaire to the e-mail address specified in the first paragraph.
5. If you are lucky and if the admins like your answers, a GFT invitation code will be sent to your e-mail inbox (may take several days). Good luck.

GFTracker (GFT) : Ratio free private tracker – How to get invited

Many of you surely have heard of compression utilities such as WinRAR and Winzip. Well KGB archiver is yet another compression utility similar to WinZip and WinRAR but offers a high compression ratio leading to smaller file sizes. KGB Archiver uses PAQ6 and PAQ7 (in KGB v2) compression algorithms to compress and decompress user files. Bad news is that it requires a lot of hardware resources during compression and decompression; a fast processor and a lot of RAM will definitely be helpful. Even if you have a top of the line Quad Core processor and plenty of RAM, chances are that it will still take a hell lot of time, specially if you are compressing large files. On the upside it will save storage space or transmission bandwidth with the high compression ratio.

Where to download older versions of existing software

It is safe to say that Zamunda.NET is one of the best private torrent trackers I have ever used. Most of you may not have even heard of this tracker (unless you’ve been reading this blog) but in some aspects its actually better than Demonoid (FYI it’s a general content tracker). Zamunda.NET tracks over 75000 torrents; scene,p2p and user submitted releases. I don’t know the actual number of users on this tracker but judging by the number of seeders on some torrents (6000+), I assume it’s bigger than TorrentLeech (TL).

One thing I have noted about this tracker is that it seems to have many well seeded non scene DVDrips of movies which even some of the dedicated movie trackers did not have. It also has a content rich PC Game rips section.

Apart from usual torrents, Zamunda does have some killer packs as well. Some of these are over 150GB in file size. As for the download speeds, I usually max out my connection speed whenever I use this tracker. Majority of Zamunda’s torrents are very well seeded which gives it an edge over it’s semi private competitor Demonoid in terms of speed.

This should be good news for engineering students among us. Stanford University’s School of Engineering is offering freely downloadable engineering courses via the web. As you might already know, Stanford is one of the most reputed universities in the world. This should be a good opportunity for engineering students across the world gain access to high quality study material from Stanford.

Mygazines attracted many visitors who were thrilled at the prospect of being able to read premium content for free but it also drew the attention of copyright holders. As a result some of the most popular magazines were removed from Mygazines.com but the site continued to operated with limited content.

Mygazines.com shut down

We’ve posted about this site before but MVGroup deserves another mention. MVGroup is a forum where users can share links to TV documentaries, E-books and other educational content (Hence their tagline “An Education in P2P”. MVGroup do have their own torrent tracker but the forum has a section where users can post torrents tracked elsewhere as well. One of the best features of MVGroup is their TV Documentaries section. Hiren’s BootCD is a bootable ISO image which contains over 100 diagnostics utilities (see list below). You can burn the ISO to a CD and boot up your computer with it to diagnose hardware and software problems your may encounter on your PC.Since it’s bootable, it doesn't matter if you can get Windows (or other OS) to boot up or not. (No it’s not open for signups, sorry) SceneAccess (SCC) is undoubtedly one of the best General/0Day trackers out there. Apart from the outstanding pre times, it has one of the best archive sections with more than 550 packs! The archive section as well as their 0day section is on freeleech for ever. SceneAccess (SCC) celebrates 2nd birthday

Sportbit is a private torrent tracker specializing in Sports content. You can find videos related to sports such as Formula 1, American Football, Basketball and more. Torrents related to popular events including (but not limited to) NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB are indexed. Apart from sporting events, Sportbit has a section dedicated to Sports Movies which currently has around 15 torrents. Only problem I found about this tracker is the lack of cricket torrents (and I am a die hard cricket fan :) ).

Site Update - Torrent Sites categories now available

Here is some good news for the folks who are craving to get into Blackcats-Games (BCG) (including those who lost accounts failing to generate login page keyword). Referrals feature is BCG’s alternative to a traditional invite system.

Existing BCG members can generate a referral code and give it to a referee of their choice. The referee then has to visit www.blackcats-games.net and type 'referral (Not the actual referral code) into the search box of the fake login page. Once they do this two boxes will pop up at the bottom of the page where the referee can insert the referral code and a valid email. Then the users will be mailed a confirmation link to the e-mail address them specified and clicking on the confirmation link will take the referee to a signup page. Once you complete that and submit, the site will E-mail you the username, password and the keyword for the fake login page. Referee can use this data to login to blackcats just like regular members.

Currently, only BCG Super Power Users (SPU) with the badge of honor can generate referral codes. Each SPU has been given 5 referral codes and can use them to invite new members. Soon, invite sharing/trading forums will become filled with BCG referral requests but let me tell you, you won’t get a referral code just by posting a request and your email address. Why? Because referrals system bind the referrer and the referred even after the signup process; If the referee behaves well and abide by the site’s rules, the referrer has no reason to worry. He may even get bonuses when any one of the referees get promoted etc etc. But if the folks you invite screw up, become leechers, hit and runners or cheaters, the referrer too will face the consequences. This system will definitely minimize account trading, which most private tracker admins and staff hate to see happen.

You may never have heard of this tracker but let me tell you, this one was a legend back in 2004-2006. Torrentit was originally known as 123torrents and was launched in 2004. They had a great run as a private tracker but soon ran into BREIN, the Dutch anti piracy group. In 2005 they lost the 123torrents domain and by mid 2006, the site was entirely shut down due to continuous pressure from BREIN.

There were talks of the site coming back online since early 2007, but it only happened about a month back in September 2008. The re-launched site is built upon the Gazelle codebase; It looks nice and the navigation is smooth, along with tons of other features. There are currently 3700+ members on this tracker and it tracks nearly 1500 torrents including 180+ packs! - awesome stats considering the site was only online for less than a month.

Torrentit is closed for signups most of the time and those who want to get in usually need an invite. But we bring you good news – Torrentit is currently open for new signups. If you hurry now, you can register an account at torrentit without needing an invite.

TorrentIt signups open – Gazelle based general tracker

We usually bring you good news on new torrent trackers launching or existing trackers opening sign ups, but this time around we have some bad news. World’s largest textbook torrent tracker has shut down and it ain’t coming back, according to the admin ‘Geekman’.

Textbook torrents was probably the only site of its kind; a torrent tracker dedicated to tracking thousands of text books on a wide range of subjects . This was what Geekman posted several months back when we first posted about the tracker and mistakenly called it an ‘E-Learning tracker’:

Okay, I really have to say this. Textbook Torrents is not an e-learning/documentary tracker. It is textbook-only. From the site rules:
"A basic rule of thumb to determine if something is acceptable: if you can find it in the courses section of your local university bookstore, it's fair game."
Thanks for the publicity, though. We get a steady trickle of redirects from this post. ;)

From humble beginnings, Textbook Torrents rose to popularity during mid 2008. This of course caught the eye of book publishers who apparently did not know how file sharing worked. Textbook Torrent’s host was threatened and the site went down suddenly as the host terminated the services offered to the site. It however soon resurfaced with a different host much to the joy of site members.

Now, in October 2008, Textbook torrents has shut down its doors for good. Site admin, whose identity was not a secret unlike that of many other tracker admin’s, had no other choice  than to shut the site down since book publishers were going to personally sue him for assisting copyright infringement. Textbook Torrents had more than 100000 registered members at the time it shut down and the loss would no doubt be felt strongly.

Currently, we can’t think of another tracker which can replace Textbook Torrents. There will however be new Textbook trackers popping up soon after this shutdown, in true hydra style. Whether the new entrants can rise as high as Textbook Torrents remains to be seen. For now all we can say to Geekman is, “Thanks for the past 2 years and thanks for helping people share - R.I.P. Textbook Torrents”.

Textbook Torrents Shut Down

You may already know that Norbits is currently down due to their hosts terminating hosting services offered to the site.  The downtime may be temporary (and we hope it is) but it would be strongly felt as it was the largest Norwegian torrent tracker. This post’s aim is to discuss alternative sites of Norwegian origin you can use in place of Norbits. Nordic-T and Nordictbits are both Norwegian private torrent trackers that track general content. Both these sites are currently open for signup.

Nordic-T is large private tracker with over 39000 users and 11300+ torrents. It’s a general/0day tracker which indexes both scene and non scene releases. There are a lot of packs at Nordic-T including some of the packs obtained from other trackers such as PB, TorrentLeech, Danishbits and others. It’s worth mentioning that most some of these packs are huge, some spanning over 120GBs.

The site is currently open fir new users. There is a user cap of 40000 which means that only around 200 more spots are left.

Nordic-T and Nordicbits - Two alternatives to Norbits

In out previous Private Tracker Watch posts, we’ve posted about two dedicated mobile appz trackers; SynctheBits (StB)[Signups Open] and Pimp Your Mobile [Signups Open]. Here is another addition to that list of mobile trackers. Mobile Club is a brand new tracker that specializes in mobile content such as appz, themes, games and ringtones. From what we know this tracker is from the guys who were behind SceneLinks.Ro so you can expect good things.

As said above this tracker is only 1 day old. There are already close to 150 members on this tracker. Currently there are only 8 torrents most of them seem to be packs.

The number of torrents will surely increase as the days progress. Another nice feature we found was that under every torrent, compatible phone models are listed; this should definitely make it easier to find compatible appz and games for specific mobile device models.

Mobile Club – New mobile Appz tracker

If I ever liked a McAfee product, that was their VirusScan Enterprise (VSE) series of Anti Virus software. Although the Enterprise series is designed with large corporate and networks in mind, I used VSE 8.5i for over an year on my desktop PC at home. First thing I liked about VSE is it’s bloat free interface and the fact that it did not come with crapware such as McAfee Security center (which got installed by default with other fancy McAfee home edition products). Second, VSE’s memory resident scanner (called activeshield) did not consume half my RAM in real time protection. Finally, VSE updated like a charm; I did not need to bother with keys getting blacklisted, update servers going offline or update servers blocking client access (nod32 anyone?).

That being said, McAfee’s detection engine seemed to miss a few viruses here and there as of late. For example it did seem to miss that pesky amvo.exe virus which finally forced me to switch to Kaspersky Anti-Virus. Apart from several rare misses McAfee VirusScan Enterprise is still a good AV product. If you are a fan of McAfee products, this is definitely one software that’s worth checking out.

McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i

Appz Bitshock is a private torrent tracker specializing in general appz and 0day software releases. Don’t expect to find movies or music here as this is a specialized tracker which is dedicated to tracking PC and Mac software, much like Appzuniverse. Appz Bitshock is a spin off tracker run by the same folks behind popular general tracker bitshock.org.

Appz bitshock has not been online for that long but there are already close to 5000 members on it. This tracker tracks over 3000 torrents, including scene release as well as user uploads. Appz Bitshock does have quite a few packs as well:
