By now, each and every regular reader of this blog are likely to be a proud member of TorrentLeech (TL) tracker. But for those who don’t know what it is, TorrentLeech is the de facto king of private BitTorrent trackers. This 7+ year old file sharing community boasts a nearly 50000 strong torrent index, excellent download speeds and a very active user base comprised of hard core BitTorrent users. Now, TL is a private community with registrations usually closed to new members. However, getting invited in is actually pretty easy. Did you know that TL now has in place a fully automated IRC invite bot that serves free invites instantly? All you have to do is to log into their public invites IRC channel and type in your E-mail address. If you are too lazy to set up IRC connectivity, TL now allows you to connect to the chatroom through the browser itself.

TorrentLeech

Although it is now easy for even a beginner to get into TL, keeping the account without getting banned is a different story. You have to adhere to ratio rules if you are to survive there. It is strongly recommended that you read TL rules and FAQ before going on a downloading spree. The TorrentLeech Wiki has all the info and guides you’ll ever need. You can access it from here - http://wiki.torrentleech.org/doku.php. More information about the TL tracker including screenshots can be found here.

How To Get A Free TorrentLeech Invite

  1. Visit http://torrentleech.org/user/chat/guest
  2. Enter a user name – This is just to join the chat room. This will not be your TL account user name. Click the ‘chat’ button once you are done.
  3. If you are using Google Chrome and get a ‘out of date plugin’ warning, try clicking on the ‘Run this time’ button below the address bar. In most cases this should work. If it does not, you’ll have to download and install the Java plugin from here.
  4. You will get a Java security warning. Press ‘Run’ to load the java based chat window within the browser.
  5. You will automatically connect to TLs’ public invite request channel. Do not spam this channel. Do not say “hi”, “hello”, “can I haz invite plz” or anything else. Just type a valid E-mail address of yours and hit enter. You will immediately be disconnected from the channel. A TL invite will be sent to the E-mail address you just entered (the invite usually arrives from mailer[at]torrentleech[dot]org). Follow the instructions on the invite E-mail to complete the signup process.

Regular readers of the blog might find the content of this article a bit redundant. That’s because we have already in the past posted numerous articles on how to get into TL. However, if you have less BitTorrent savvy friends on Facebook, Twitter, etc, share this post with them so that they can be a part of this wonderful tracker as well.

Note - If you are thinking of copy/pasting this article somewhere else (let it be on a external forum or a blog), please do us a favor and link to this original article instead of reposting the entire content elsewhere. We are rebuilding site traffic and search rankings and it would help us greatly if our content is not duplicated elsewhere. Thanks for understanding.

Chorome is a private torrent tracker that’s a hit in Korea. However, there is a good chance that most of you in English speaking countries probably never even knew such a site existed. Chorome is real and in fact, it’s pretty large when compared with most other private trackers. The site current has a large user base of over 30k members and tracks nearly 20000 torrents. If you are interested in Korean content, this is without a doubt a must have site. If you are looking for English content, you might still find popular releases here as Chorome tracks a mix of Korean and English content including scene releases. Signups are currently open and 50GB upload credit is given to all new registrants.

Chorome

With Gazelle codebase now widely in use, it isn’t surprising for a foreign tracker to be based on this script pioneered by What.CD. However, you don’t often hear success stories about Gazelle being used in General/0Day trackers. Chorome is one exception where the codebase seems to have worked well on a general torrent site (a huge one at that too).

Chorome tracks TV shows, movies, music, games, Japanese anime plus other content a general tracker would usually have. However, keep in mind that a significant amount of torrents indexed here are native to Korean region (Korean TV shows, drama etc). It does track English content including scene releases, but these are usually scattered among Korean uploads.

Chorome Screenshot

As we mentioned earlier, Chorome is currently open for signup. 50GB free upload credit is given to all new users.

Site Name: Chorome (http://www.chorome.net)

Signup URL: http://www.chorome.net/register.php

Being a Korea based tracker, Chorome’s interface is in Korean. There is no official means to switch it to English but you can always use a browser translator tool to overcome this problem.

How to translate Chorome to English with Google Chrome

  1. Download the latest version of Google Chrome browser from here.
  2. Visit Chorome signup page through this link: http://www.chorome.net/register.php
Once the page is done loading, Google Chrome will automatically display several translation options (the message will be displayed just beneath the address bar – you can’t miss it).
  3. Choose the auto detected settings (should be Korean to English) and hit translate. If you get the message  ‘Translation failed due to server error’ keep re-trying.
  4. Once translation of the first page is done, you can configure Google Chrome so that it automatically translates all Chorome pages without prompting you. Select the ‘Options’ button (in the translation help popup) and select ‘Always translate Korean to English’ from the drop down menu.

How to translate Chorome to English with Firefox

Method 1

  1. Install gTranslator Addon – Download from here

Method 2

  1. Install Google Toolbar – Download from here
  2. Go to Google Toolbar Options –> Tools tab and check "Translate".
  3. While still in Google Toolbar Options move to Layout tab and check "Keep Features working with Invisible Toolbar" so that you get the automatic translation without the need to have the toolbar visible to occupy space.

Special thanks to Threshold and R for translation tips.

SceneBits (ScB) is a private torrent tracker that hasn’t gained much attention in BitTorrent forums or blogs. However, those frequenting IRC tracer channels might be familiar with the acronym ScB. Why? Because ScB has pretty good pre times and frequently gains top positions in so called ‘torrent races’. Although ScBs pre times are not as consistent as those of SCC or GFT, they actually are pretty good for a new tracker. Speaking of being new, the site only a few months old. But with over 10K torrents added to the index in the last month alone, ScB’s growth seems to be happening at a rapid pace. As you may have already guessed, SceneBits is a General/0day torrent tracker which indexes scene releases of movies, music, games, TV shows and the likes. In case you are interested in signing up, registrations are currently open for a limited time.

SceneBits Logo

As of 25/6/2011, SceneBits tracked 11000+ torrents and had an active users base of 700+ members. The first few weeks since launch seems to have been a rather slow ride for this tracker. However things appear to have gathered momentum and hundreds of new torrents are now being uploaded to ScB’s tracker on a daily basis. Quoted below are official torrent statistics on site as of 25/6/2011

  • Torrents: 11875
  • Torrents Today: 416 (4 %)
  • Torrents Yesterday: 814 (7 %)
  • Torrents This Week: 2834 (24 %)
  • Torrents This Month: 11083 (93 %)

Although there are thousands of torrents, ScB currently has only around 700 active members. Most of the torrents have only one seed and some have already died without any seeders. Hopefully, the current  open signup will get in some new users to keep the torrents alive.

Just like most other General/0Day torrent trackers, ScBs primary focus is on scene releases. The site pretty much covers all major releases including MP3 and 0day.

Registrations for SceneBits is currently open. If you are on the lookout for a new general tracker, this site is worth checking out.

Here’s a great opportunity for FILEnetworks Blog readers to easily join PTF tracker. PTF is a private torrent community with a lot of history – it was formerly known as Phoenix Torrent and the current incarnation of the site was re-launched back in 2008 as PTFiles. Although it isn’t as popular or as large as the likes of TorrentLeech, PTF is one of the most feature rich general trackers currently in existence. Seriously, this tracker has so many options, features, bonus systems, free leech types, member reward schemes, etc it would actually take new users some time to get used to it all. Apart from the regular scene and non scene content found on most similar trackers, PTF features releases from P2P groups EMBER, UnKnOwN, Hive-CM8,  LKRG and SiC. This site is currently closed for public signup and membership is only available via invites. However the special signup link posted at the end of this article will allow you to create a free PTF account, with no strings attached.

PTFiles

PTFiles runs on a customized version of pdqTracker (A bittorrent tracker source based on ScTBDev / TBDev.net / tbsource / bytemonsoon). Although one of the older private trackers around, PTF has moved ahead with the times and upgraded its look and feel  to suit modern web standards. As of 19/6/2011, the site tracks 5700 active torrents and has around 3200 registered members. It appears to function smoothly on the current setup with fast navigation. A notable fact about PTF is that staff have never sent (and claims they never will send) donation begging mass PMs to its members.

As mentioned earlier, PTF is a feature rich torrent tracker. It has all major features you’d expect in a private tracker and then some. From major features such as Karma bonus points, ‘coin’ based on site currency, detailed torrent description pages (with scene info, IMDB links, YouTube trailer & more) to smaller add ons such as pwTweet, member moods, TV listings, etc , this site has tons of little details that it might take you some time to find them all. Some of the most recently implemented features are briefly explained below:

Seeding Rewards
We have introduced a new Seeding Rewards feature to replace the current 1 point per hour per torrent system. Larger sized torrents will Reward more than Smaller sized ones. Torrents with the longest seedtimes will have priority.
Seeding Reward Calculation
Reward = (Seedtime * Seeding Interval * Size Multiplier) Basically The More You Share, The More Reward You Will Receive!

Freeleech Countdown
Freeleech Countdown is a way for members to use their extra coins and share with other members for freeleech. Every week starting at Monday 12am GMT, members may start contributing for the freeleech to start on the next Sunday. Every coin added to the pot will add a minute of time before the Monday 12am GMT deadline.
Coins will continue to be added until the time to start the freeleech comes together in the week. Basically the quicker the countdown is reached, the longer the freeleech lasts.
How Does This Work Exactly?
If no coins are added then the freeleech will last one minute on Sunday at 11:59pm GMT till Monday 12am GMT. If a total of 180 coins are accumulated over the week, then the freeleech will start at Sunday 9:00pm GMT and last until Monday 12am GMT.
The coin basket always resets on Monday at 12am GMT. Coins are only collected for that period of time and used before the next week's deadline for the freeleech. The new week starts on Monday 12am GMT. (More often than not, the countdown is reached by Wednesday/Thursday)

Crazy hour
All torrents started during the 60 min Crazy Hour are free leech but once crazy hour is over the freeleech on the file finishes if not complete (most files should complete within an hour). Uploaded kb's are tripled (your seedback amount is tripled) Seedback rules still apply tho so be sure to keep seeding back to 1:1 ratio or for at least 48 hours.

Eggs
What are these funny little images(Phoenix Eggs) I see everywhere, and what do I do with them?
with every egg that you find, a prize will be awarded. You may be awarded with Karma Bonus Point, Coins or Freeleech slots… If you find enough of these you may have a real boost to your ranking. Karma can be traded for goodies like bonus GB(s) to your upload stats, getting more invites, or doing the real Karma booster… give them to another user!

PTF is a general/0day torrent tracker and you can pretty much find all major scene and P2P releases here. In addition, the site features internal releases by groups such as EMBER, UnKnOwN, Hive-CM8,  LKRG and SiC. Some of the torrent packs indexed on this tracker can be seen on the screenshot below:

PTF Index

Like we said earlier, PTF is currently closed for signup. It hasn’t had an open signup in nearly two years and whether it’d open up in the future is also uncertain. However, PTF admins have offered a special signup link which will allow instant signup for 500 FNB readers. To quote the words of grimgeraer (PTF owner):

PTFiles would like to expand its member base So we asked our coder to come up with a special invite link for your readers to sign up with, this special link will only allow the first 500 members to sign up. After the invite link has expired  everyone else will have to use the invite application Form or be invited by a member.
This is a special occasion as the last time we did this was  about 18 months ago, to help the stranded  ScT members find a new home. PTF hasn't been open to the public for almost 2 years and we don't intend to open our doors ever again.

Use the signup URL below to create an account – the invitation code field should be auto filled in the signup form. Note that this key will only serve the first 500 readers who use it.

Site Name: PTFiles (http://ptfiles.net)

Signup URL: http://ptfiles.net/register/index.php?invitecode=c8b5915915e11b902b7c4fa71b0b5a9e

If you come across this article late and find they key expired, you can still obtain and invite by submitting an invite application to PTF staff using the link below.

Invite Applications URL: http://ptfiles.net/inviteapp

Good Luck!

Special thanks to grimgeraer (PTF owner) for the heads up.

Although anti piracy organizations would love to see it happen frequently, you don’t often hear stories about tracker staff being murdered. Unfortunately, this is what Scene Inspired (SI) had to go through when one of their staff members (Fatz) was killed early this year. Fatz was a senior staffer of this 4 year old private tracker and his death hit the site pretty hard. While this was a devastating blow, Fatzs fellow staffers made sure it wasn’t the end of SI. Instead, SI has now bounced back with more features including an auto uploader bot, seedbox hosted torrents and automatic scripts for pulling movie and TV show information from online sources, etc. They are also looking for some fresh new blood to fill up the ranks so registrations have also been opened for a brief period of time as well.

Scene Inspired Logo

To quote the words of mad cotto (one of the site admins), here’s what SI went through in the past couple of months:

SI has been around for over 4 years now and has a long history and it will continue due to our small but great nature. But what we need is a bit of new blood, we have just sat back and chilled in our own little world and don't care about been the bigger or uber, etc. We just want to be friends together in the same cause and helping each other out.
SI had a massive shock as one of a most loved staff members (Fatz) was murdered and hit the site very hard and as such we left things to go a bit rotten. But in his name we back. We have pulled our socks up and we now on top of things with giving the site a great look and feel. Lots of tweaks here and there such as auto info for uploads of movies and tv shows have been added. But main feature is that we now reside on a 1gig server with a auto uploder serving at sppeds some people only dream of (ok ok tad ott lol)

As of 18/6/2011, Scene Inspired currently tracks around 1000 torrents and has around 600 registered members. The statistics are nothing spectacular but keep in mind this is a rebooted site. And with the addition of auto uploader bot, the lack of new daily torrents problem seem to be finally solved; around 100 new torrents now seem to get uploaded every day. In case anyone is wondering, SI is a general/0day torrent tracker which indexes both scene and non scene torrents.

Scene Inspired Index

As mentioned earlier, registrations for SI are currently open. If you are looking for a community centric general/0day torrent tracker, this site is a good candidate.

Here’s another bit of good news for those looking for large General/0Day torrent sites. Speed.CD has opened registrations for one day as part of their ongoing ‘Summer Surprise’ promotion. For those who haven’t heard about this site before, Speed is not a new tracker. It’s been around since 2009 and is over 2 years old. With a torrent index spanning over 25000 active torrents, it falls into the category of ‘large’ general trackers. As is the case with all similar sites, you can find movies, music, games, books, TV shows and lots of packs on Speed.CD, both scene and non scene releases. However it does not track any adult content and is mostly free of offensive comments, signatures and avatars (hence the ‘family safe’ tag). It’s usually a closed community with signups only opening once or twice a year. The current open signup phase too will not last for long so get in while you can.

Speed.CD Banner

As said earlier, Speed.CD has been online since 2009 and they’ve slowly built a strong user base with a considerable number of active members (Alexa rank ~45000). They ran into hot waters sometime back after claims of the site being the official home of popular P2P ripper aXXo. Although Speed does track a number of aXXo releases and even has a separate category for them, it isn’t the ‘home of aXXo’. They however do seem to be affiliated with P2P movie release group DiVERSiTY. Anyways currently the site tracks 27000+ active torrents with around 175 new torrents (on average) added every day.

Speed.CD is a general/0day tracker you can pretty much find every major scene and non scene release here except for adult content. SCD brands itself as a family safe torrent site and refrains from indexing any adult material. Apart from individual releases, there is a good number of torrent packs here including 230+ movie packs, ~200 music packs and 300 TV season packs. Some of the larger torrents on SCD can be seen in the screenshot below:

Speed.CD Index

Signups for Speed.CD are currently open. However, don’t expect the doors to remain open for long – open signups will last for one day only so get an account while you can. This is not a tracker that has regular open signups.

Site Name: Speed.CD (http://speed.cd)

Apologies for the lack of updates recently. Things should get back to normal pretty soon and daily articles should resume shortly. In the meantime CZTEAM is open for signup. CZTEAM is a decent general/0day torrent tracker formerly known as C-ZONE. They allegedly had their last ever open signup back in December 2009 but apparently this was not truly the last open registration. CZT is open once again for a short period of time and new members now have the ability to create an account without the need for an invite code. For those of you don’t know about this site, it’s a large general/0day torrent site with both scene and P2P releases. With a lot of exclusive packs and the recently launched 3D Movies section, CZT competes against other leading general trackers such as iPlay, RevTT and SuperTorrents.

CZTEAM_thumb2[1]

When it comes to general/0day trackers, CZT is as good as it gets (although for some reason it’s not one of those hyped up torrent sites). A massive user base, content rich torrent index, good download speeds, scene and non scene releases – CZT has most qualities that lead to the success of a private tracker. If you are concerned about statistics, the site currently has a registered user base exceeding 31000 members and tracks 18000+ active torrents. As some of you might know, CZT is of Romanian origin. However, English speaking users have no reason to worry since vast majority of its torrent index is made up of English language releases.

Speaking of content, you can find almost all major scene and P2P releases on CZT. In addition to the usual torrent uploads (movies, music, games, TV shows, Ebooks, etc) that you can find on almost any other site, CZT has some exclusive releases as well as quite a few unique packs. For example, their recently added 3D movies section is something you don’t often find on a general tracker. Movies/3D category currently has 75+ films indexed and more are getting added as days go by. A screenshot showing some of the releases on CZT can be found below:

CZTeam Packs

CZT is a tracker that very rarely has open signups. In fact, it’s been closed since their last open reg in December 2009 (unless you count the two invite giveaways we conducted through this blog). Nevertheless, signups are now once again open for a short period of time so get in while you can.

Do you like private trackers? Do you like large private trackers? Then chance are that you’ll find the1st an interesting place to be. the1st.be is a Hungary based private BitTorrent tracker that’s in the same league as other large international torrent communities such as ArenaBG, P2PBG, Linkomanija, Vibes, inPeril, mojBlink, etc. In other words, it’s one of those trackers which has a massive user base and an equally large torrent index. Being a Hungary based tracker, the1st isn’t a popular torrent tracker amongst English speaking torrenters. However, considering the fact that the1st tracks a lot of English content alongside Hungarian releases, it’s actually a useful tracker to have even if you are hunting for English only content. This is a General/0Day tracker and tracks both scene and P2P releases of movies, music, games, books, TV shows, documentaries, sports and more.

BeTheFirst

By any standards, the1st.be is a large private tracker. It currently has around 60000 registered members and maintains an active torrent index with 28000+ files (46000 total torrents). As mentioned earlier, this is a Hungarian torrent tracker. The interface language however is only in Hungarian – this can easily be resolved by using a translator utility (see end of post for how-to).

The1st is one of those trackers that has multiple torrent browse pages; it actually has 3 of them named ‘1st le’, ‘∑’ and ‘2nd le’. From what I understood, ‘1st le’ filters site uploads, ‘’2nd le’ filters user uploads while ‘∑’ displays all active torrents. As mentioned earlier there is a mixture of Hungarian and international releases indexed on the1st.be. Despite having quite a few releases native to Hungary (dubbed movies, TV shows, etc), this actually has a decent amount of English and Multilanguage enabled uploads. At a glance, it may appear that everything is dubbed in Hungarian. However note that most of the DVDR and Blu Ray torrents that have ‘Hun’ tag on torrent title also have an English audio stream – check the NFO to confirm. Screenshot below captures some of the Blu Ray releases available on the1st.be:

Blu Ray

Registrations for this tracker are currently open. In fact, they’ve been open for 5 days now, since the 24th of May. More than 15000 new users have signed up during this open signup period and at last check, doors were still open.

Site Name: The1st.Be (http://the1st.be)
Signup URL: http://the1st.be/register.php

How to translate The1st.Be to English with Google Chrome

  1. Download the latest version of Google Chrome browser from here.
  2. Visit The1st.Be signup page through this link: http://the1st.be/register.php
Once the page is done loading, Google Chrome will automatically display several translation options (the message will be displayed just beneath the address bar – you can’t miss it).
  3. Choose the auto detected settings (should be Hungarian to English) and hit translate. If you get the message  ‘Translation failed due to server error’ keep re-trying.
  4. Once translation of the first page is done, you can configure Google Chrome so that it automatically translates all the1st.Be pages without prompting you. Select the ‘Options’ button (in the translation help popup) and select ‘Always translate Hungarian to English’ from the drop down menu.

Like large trackers with massive torrent indexes and thousands of users? SceneFZ might be the site you are looking for. If memory serves correct, SceneFZ last opened signups to the public back in June 2010. It’s taken them almost an year to do another open registration and there’s only one more day left in the current phase in case you still didn’t get in. For those unfamiliar with this tracker, it’s a large general/0day torrent site based in Romania in the same league as iPlay, LastTorrents, TorrentBits, etc . A relatively unknown fact about SFZ is that it’s a tracker that’s nearly 6 years old. Movie fans in particular would want to check this out as it indexes nearly 20000 English and non English movies (up from 10000 a year ago). But that’s not all, you can find latest games, music, TV shows, software and a number of freeleech packs in SceneFZ’s massive torrent index.

SceneFZ

Launched way back in 2006, SFZ is one of the oldest Romanian trackers still alive. Its users base however is not limited to its native country – the tracker has more than 83000 active members from various regions across the world. It is thanks to this large users base that most of the torrents in SFZ index are kept alive. As of 7/5/2011 there were 31000+ active torrents tracked, which is an impressive number for a private tracker.

SceneFZ appears to use a custom codebase that’s not as common as Gazelle, TBDev or TSSE. As a result, it looks a little different that your average private tracker. While some of you will love the layout, others might feel it’s a little cluttered. In case you don’t like the default look, theme can be changed through the style dropdown on left sidebar. Note that this tracker has in site advertising and some of the ads can be NSFW. Coming back to the content on SFZ, it has a huge collection of movies on board. To quote the official breakdown of available content:

We are currently tracking over: 31,334 torrent files:

  • 2,457 Games
  • 19,124 Movies
  • 4,996 Music
  • 1,816 Software
  • 2,941 Other categories

Yeah. It’s a pretty big tracker. The actual number of individual movies, music, games etc indexed might vary since SFZ has a number of torrent packs, some of which you can see in the screenshot below.

SceneFZ index

Signup for SFZ is currently open. In fact, they’ve been open for a couple of days now. However, don’t expect the doors to be open forever – registrations will close on the 8th and in case you still haven’t created an account, now would be a good time to do so.

A general/0day torrent tracker that’s 5 years old? If a private BitTorrent site managed to stay online for that long, there should definitely be something good about it. Swepiracy is indeed a decent general tracker – and it’s now probably the largest private torrent community based in Sweden. From its humble beginnings back in 2006, this site has today evolved into a well established tracker with a solid user base. It indexes scene releases at good pre times and offers very good download speeds on majority of indexed torrents. Pretty much everything gets uploaded here including movies, music, games, TV shows, HD content, books and more (including both English and Swedish DVDR and BD25/BD50 uploads). Apart from content, SwePiracy is also known for its Doodles page showcasing interesting logos used on site since 2006 (similar to Google). Signups are currently open and interested readers are welcome to check it out.

Swepiracy

Although Swepiracy celebrates its 5th birthday today with much pride , the journey so far hasn’t been an easy one of the site. Actually, SF was temporarily shut down back in 2009, along with a number of other Swedish torrent trackers fearing legal issues - this was after the infamous Pirate Bay verdict. The site later returned much to the joy of its loyal fan base and has been up and running ever since. As of 30/4/2011, it currently tracks around 14000 active torrents and has a registered users base of 24000+ members.

As mentioned earlier, SwePiracy is primarily a scene releases tracker. In addition to the usual major scene leaks, it tracks a ton of DVDR (and now even BD25/BD50) torrents including some very nice packs. Uploads include releases pre’d by groups native to the Nordic region – this means you will find some DVDR/Blu Ray releases for DVD region 2 (R2). The screenshot below captures several packs found on SwePiracy:

Swepiracy Packs

Registrations for SP are now open (in fact, they’ve been open for quite some time now). The max user cap is currently placed at 30k, meaning there is still room for 6000 more new members provided signups don’t close early. If you are looking for a decent scene tracker check this out.

Some of our long time readers would no doubt remember the name PureTorrents. Back in the day, PT was known as an academic E-book torrent tracker – the site soon became a hit as it filled a void in the BitTorrent scene, tracking many text books and educational books not usually found on other sites. It was even seen as a potential replacement for the legendary textbook torrents tracker (now defunct). Although PT grew rapidly and expanded their torrent index beyond 10000 files, things took a downward turn when it suddenly went offline. Good news is that after being down for several months, PT has now returned. However, it’s no longer an specialized E-book tracker. Although fans of the old site would have liked it to remain a niche tracker, resurrected version of PT is a General/0Day torrent site. The new PureTorrents comes with zero advertisements and the ability to direct download select files.

PureTorrents Logo

As we mentioned earlier, PureTorrents filled a vacuum in the torrenting community when it started back in 2009. It was then viewed as a tracker with some pretty unique content, namely academic E-books. The resurrected version however seems to be the complete opposite of the original, at least in terms of commodity of available content. Being a General/0Day torrent tracker, PureTorrents now tracks the usual scene and P2P releases which you can find on almost every other similar site. Not only that, most of the torrents now seem to be tracked by public trackers - you don’t even need to register to download these torrents.

Although many would see the switch from a niche site to a general tracker as a bad move, there are a few positives involved as well. First and foremost is the direct downloads feature. A select few files (mostly movie re-encodes by internal group PURE RG) can be downloaded directly over regular HTTP instead of torrents. Look for the ‘Direct Download’ button above torrent download link to use this feature. For now, the direct downloads service remains free and open to all. Additionally, PureTorrents is 100% ad free and is supported only by donations.

Once upon a time there were two private trackers named TVSource and DVDRSource. As you might have guessed from their names, these sites specialized in TV shows and DVD movies respectively. Both spawned after the shutdown of popular Swedish DVDR torrent tracker SweDVDR and were built on its source which was made public soon after the closure. However, these trackers did not have much success as independent entities (to read about these sites in detail, refer to the related links at the end of this post) so they merged together to give a better experience to their users. The end result was Excellent.Nu (aka XNT), a general, zero day private tracker based on SweDVDR source. Since then things have been going well for XNT – the site now has a strong torrent index with over 25000 uploads, records good pre times for most torrents and offers decent download speeds. If you are looking to be part of XNT, now would be a good time as the site has opened signups after being an invite only community for months.

Excellent.Nu

Speaking of open signups, they are certainly a rarity at XNT. If memory serves correct, this is the first time the tracker is opening to the public since their last open registration, which was an exclusive invite giveaway for FILEnetworks blog readers back in April 2010. However, being invite only community for most of its lifetime does not seem to have affected XNT in a negative way – the site has decent activity on torrents and has over 12000 registered members as of 5/3/2011.

Excellent.Nu is primarily a scene tracker. According to official statistics, the site tracks over 28000 torrents which is an impressive amount by any standard. Although a merger between TVSource and DVDRSource, XNT does not limit itself to TV & DVD releases – the site tracks all sorts of content including movies, music, games, applications, books, etc. It has four different torrent index pages instead of one main page; Browse, Archive, MP3 and 0Day. The ‘Browse’ page lists about 3000 most recent torrents uploaded to the tracker. Archive section is for older releases – there are currently around 8400 torrents in this section. MP3 section has over 15000 torrents while 0Day section has ~750 recent scene zero day releases. But that’s not all – XNT indexes quite a lot of exclusive packs, some of which can be seen in the screenshot below:

Excellent.Nu Index

As mentioned earlier, signups for XNT are currently open. Doors were probably opened to welcome in old members of the now defunct SweBits torrent tracker. We do not know for how long the open signups will continue so get in while you can. XNT has tons of torrents, good pre times, a fast, streamlined user interface and good activity – it’s a decent general tracker.

This is probably the first time in several years the popular private tracker iPlay is having a proper open signup. As we posted quite a few times before, iPlay had occasionally allowed new member join through their trial registrations program; users had to prove that they were good members by meeting a set of pre set requirements in order for their trial account to be converted to permanent status. The current open signup however does not seem to be part of the trial program – accounts created now seem to get the regular user privileges immediately. This is great news for those who were looking forward to get into iPlay. It’s a great General/0Day tracker which tracks almost everything ranging from movies, TV shows, music, video games to E-Books. The site gets scene and non scene releases pretty quickly, has fast download speeds and indexes exclusive content released by 5 of its internal encoder groups. iPlay just recently introduced the iSeed bonus points system which makes it easier than ever to maintain a good ratio on site.

iPlay Logo

Statistically speaking, iPlay is one of the larger private trackers around. It tracks nearly 15000 active torrents of all shapes and sizes and has 38000+ registered users who keep these torrents alive and well seeded. However, size isn’t the only factor why iPlay is a great tracker. Unlike most general trackers which pretty much index the same content as any other similar site, iPlay has a lot of internal, exclusive releases. These are uploaded by 5 of their own release groups, iNCOMiNG (HD content), iDVD (DVDR releases), iPSP (mobile optimized video), iHD (HD content) and iMOBILE (Mobile optimized content). There are thousands of such exclusive encodes indexed here - you can track these using the iPlay Releases Board - http://www.iplay.ro/board/board.php). Additionally, this site has a great visual design - the four different themes introduced with iPlay V4 look great and gives the site a polished look.

While download speeds are usually great for indexed torrents, not being able to seed back easily has always been a problem for iPlay members. Thankfully, iPlay just recently introduced the iSeed bonus points system which makes things a lot easier. Quoted below is a new post on homepage explaining how the new system works:

iPLAY wants to help you maintain a good ratio, despite your low internet connection. It's never been easier to maintain your ratio. iSeed is based on the fundamental p2p principle, sharing.
If you seed what you downloaded, you'll never have to worry about your ratio.
How it works:
1. If the torrent is smaller than 1 GB or equal you get 1:1 ratio after 24 hours ( 1 day ) of seed.
2. If the torrent is smaller than 2 GB or equal you get 1:1 ratio after 48 hours ( 2 days ) of seed.
3. If the torrent is smaller than 3 GB or equal you get 1:1 ratio after 72 hours ( 3 days ) of seed.
4. If the torrent is not bigger than 4 GB included you get 1:1 ratio after 96 hours ( 4 days ) of seed.
5. If the torrent is bigger than 4 GB you get 1:1 ratio after 120 hours ( 5 days ) of seed.
6. If you download only a part of the torrent you will get 1:1 ratio as by the minimum seed time required.
7. If you make preseed ( download a torrent from another tracker and seeding it on iplay ) you won't get any bonus.

The new system was introduced just yesterday so it might take a while for members to get used to it and reap the benefits. Nevertheless, it appears to make life a lot easier for those struggling to maintain a healthy global ratio on site.

iPlay Releases Screen

Coming back to open registrations, we do not know for how long signups will remain open. The site’s current max users limit is set to 50000 - if iPlay remains open till this cap is reached, that would mean there are around 12000 free slots remaining. However, chances are that registrations would close after a short period of time so get in while you can - its not everyday you have open signups on this great tracker.

Great news if you were looking forward to get into FunFile, a long standing general/0day torrent tracker with lots of members and torrents. After being closed for more than a year, FF has finally opened public registrations to allow some new blood in. Although there is no official word from the site about open signups, it appears that there is room for another ~2500 new users. As you may have already guessed, FunFile tracks everything from 0Day scene release packs to movies, music, games, television shows, e-books, software, portable applications and more. It has a unique layout, a bonus system based on credits, secure HTTPS connectivity, advanced search features and a large torrent index with nearly 20000 active torrents.

FunFile Logo

Although it’s been online for several years, this tracker has had its share of conflicts, controversies and internal disputes. Actually, it was one of these disputes that caused a breakaway faction of staff to start PreToMe (PTM) tracker. However, most of the issues occurred under a different ownership and right now, FF is a far more stable private tracker. The site is looking pretty good in terms of statistics with around 15000 registered users and around 19000 active torrents (29000 total).

As for the content, you can find pretty much everything you’d look for in a General/0day tracker on FunFile. It has some massive packs, it has 0day releases and it tracks both scene and P2P uploads. The newest change regarding packs was announced a couple of days ago:

Effective immediately, we have a new 0day category for uploads. This will house all the scene-released apps including PC, Linux, Mac, iPhone, iPad and more in daily uploaded packs. These packs will be accessible to Power Users and above and will be freeleech indefinitely. This allows you to grab whichever apps you wish from the daily pack while boosting ratio, but do ensure to seed back the required 72 hours and/or a 1:1 ratio.

Some of the torrent packs you can find on FunFile can be seen in the screenshot below:

FunFile Index

As said earlier, signups for FF are currently open and you no longer need an invite key or a registration code to create an account. Although there is no official word from the site about open signups, this was hinted in a previous news post:

In an effort to increase our site members, we will have open registration soon so feel free to introduce your friends and family & show them the ropes. However, please note, duplicate accounts on the same connection are NOT permitted. Period.

Assuming the sites would remain open until the maximum user limit is reached, there is still room around around 2500 new members. If you are interested, feel free to check it out.

Unlike in the past, Ratioless private torrent trackers are nothing revolutionary these days. However, launch of a new site of this genre always seem to spark the interest of our readers. SceneLinks (SCL) is one of the latest no ratio private torrent communities to hit the BitTorrent scene. It’s not a niche tracker but a General/0Day tracker which tracks content ranging from movies, games to exclusive encodes and torrent packs. The site features an eye catching user interface, claims to have scene access, has a bonus system based on ‘Promicin Shot’ points and is home to an internal movie encoder group of its own named SLiNKS. Staff have expressed no desire to make this one of those super secret, l33t sites and SceneLinks has started off humbly with registrations open to all.

SceneLinks

According to site staff, work on SceneLinks began several months ago. Although they are going public in mid January 2011, the site has been online since November 2010. To quote the words of one staff member:

The staff wanted to make a GOOD torrent tracker, before spreading the word, and so now you have a beautiful looking site ( my favorite stylesheet being Simple 2 ), with extremely fast scene axx pretimes, and ratioless. The site doesn't aim to become l33t or stuff like that.

They do claim to have scene access but there is no way for us to independently verify this claim. Either way, around 1500 torrents have been uploaded during the past one and a half months which is not a bad statistic at all. The style sheet, category icons and the overall visual interface of the site is indeed eye catching. Torrent index looks very organized with nuked releases, requests and free leech torrents easily distinguishable from one another. However, keep in mind that SCL still is a brand new tracker – there aren’t a lot of members or snatches so don’t expect the same amount of activity as on TorrentLeech around here.

SceneLinks index

Just like most other ratioless trackers, a bonus system replaces global ratio on SceneLinks. Bonus points are called ‘Promicin Shots’. For every hour that you seed a torrent, you are awarded with 1 Promicin Shot. Of course, there are ways to earn points other than seeding:

  • uploading a new torrent = 10 shots
  • comment on torrent = 1 shot
  • saying thanks = 0.5 shots
  • making a post = 1 shot
  • starting a topic = 3 shots
  • seeding a torrent uploaded 1 week ago or bigger than 4Gb longer than 1 day will get you more Shots

Your SceneLinks account will gain certain abilities as you gather more Promicin Shots. A list of such abilities is quoted below:

  • ability to cast invites
  • ability to get upload credit
  • shadow ability aka custom title
  • heal/help ability aka give promicin gift

SCL administration have stated that they have no plans to make this a l33t tracker. Making a wise move, they have decided to open registrations for all during the start up period. If you are looking to be part of a new ratio free tracker, check this site out.

After a series of posts about smaller, niche private torrent trackers, we return to large general torrent sites that everyone seems to be so fond of. The tracked being featured today is of Russian origin - Russians are no strangers to piracy and they certainly know their game when it comes to private torrent trackers (the world’s largest’ private tracker, RuTracker, has its roots in Russia). UnionGang is another BitTorrent tracker from this very same country – it’s not as large as RuTracker but it’s still a decently sized private tracker by any standards. UG is a general torrent site which indexes everything ranging from music, games to TV shows but it’s better known for its movie repository which includes releases of varying quality ranging from DVDRs to BRRips. UG is also one of the first sites to upload leaked regional content i.e. R5 DVD releases by groups such as ELEKTRIKA.

UnionGang Tracker

With an Alexa ranking just under 29000, UnionGang is one of the more frequently visited sites in the BitTorrent scene. It’s popular among the Russian BT community but it’s not a huge hit in the English speaking world. This makes no sense as there is a ton of English content indexed on UG, not just localized, regional releases. True, the interface is all in Russian but this is easily fixed with the help of Google Chrome’s inbuilt translation tool (see below for instructions) or using a web based translation service. At time of this post, UG tracked over 4500 active torrents.

UnionGang is a General/0Day torrent tracker – you should be able to find music releases, TV shows, movies games, cartoons and all other popular scene and P2P releases around here. As mentioned earlier, UG is usually among the first few torrent sites on the web to index uploads by Russian P2P groups such as ELEKTRIKA. Bulk of the indexed uploads are movies – they come in all sorts of popular formats such as HDRips, BRRips, BDRips and even Satellite television rips (SATRip). Torrents are well seeded and download speeds are great – popular releases usually have 200+ seeders uploading back. Screenshot below captures some of the torrents indexed on this tracker (note that release group name is absent on torrent title):

UnionGang Index

UnionGang interface is in Russian language and this might be a turn off for some English speaking users. However, you can easily translate the entire site to English using Google Chrome browser.

How to translate UnionGang to English with Google Chrome

  1. Download the latest version of Google Chrome browser from here.
  2. Visit TTG forum homepage through this link: http://www.uniongang.tv
  3. Once the page is done loading, Google Chrome will automatically display several translation options (the message will be displayed just beneath the address bar – you can’t miss it).
  4. Choose the auto detected settings (should be Russian to English) and hit translate. If you get the message  ‘Translation failed due to server error’ keep re-trying.
  5. Once translation of the first page is done, you can configure Google Chrome so that it automatically translates all UnionGang pages without prompting you. Select the ‘Options’ button (in the translation help popup) and select ‘Always translate Russian to English’ from the drop down menu.

Registrations for UnionGang are currently open. You can sign up for an account and browse the torrent index using links below:

If you’ve been in the private BitTorrent scene for at least a couple of months, you should be familiar with TorrentBits.Ro tracker (TBS). TBS is one of the larger General trackers out there and is one of the long standing private torrent sites with over 4 years of lifetime. The site has its roots in Romania and its right up there in the list of respected Romanian trackers along with the likes of iPlay, FileList, LastTorrents, ExtremeShare, SceneFZ etc. Despite being a popular tracker with a huge user base, TBS ran into troubled waters a couple of weeks ago. Misunderstandings between the site administration and its web hosting provider resulted in an extended downtime, prompting many loyal users to think that TBS was shut down for good. This however was not the case. Despite the downtime causing some damage (database deleted along with all user accounts and torrents), the site has returned. Its currently in a phase of rebuilding and launched as TBS Limited Edition (TBS-LE).

TorrentBits Logo

Back when we last mentioned TBS on this blog, it was a behemoth of a BitTorrent tracker with 20000+ torrents and 60000+ users. However, stats on the the resurrected site are very different. Since their old database was deleted during the hosting provider move, TBS now has to start everything from scratch. However, the site appears to be heading for a speedy recovery with over 7000 members recruited and 550+ torrents added during the first few days since re-launch.

There are several key differences between the old TorrentBits.Ro and TBS Limited Edition. The site appears to be built on a different codebase and looks very different from the user interface introduced in TBS v4. Type of indexed content however remains unchanged – this is still a general tracker with all sorts of scene and non scene releases including movies, music, TV shows, games, books, etc.

TorrentBits Packs

Getting into old TBS was not that hard – the site had random open signups at regular intervals. This is no longer the case with TBS Limited Edition. According to TBS administration, the goal is to recruit 10000 users during the first phase and them become a completely invite only community. The site had an initial open registration period with the aim to recruit 7000 members. Due to high demand, this number was reached in the first couple of days itself and signups have now closed. For those who still have not made it inside, you can sign up for an account if you pass the IRC interview (which is not hard btw). Interview channel is currently open and there are 3000 more spots left for the taking.

Server: irc.p2p-network.eu
Interview Channel: #tbs.interview
Direct Link: irc://irc.p2p-network.eu/tbs.interview

Please follow the instructions on channel topic once you are logged in. If you are new to IRC, rad this brief tutorial to easily get started.

Special thanks to Tanaka (TBS staff) for the heads up.

The launch of a new General/0Day private tracker is usually not news nowadays. Most of these new sites have forgettable starts and eventually go down due to various reasons. However, we saw quite a few good General/0Day trackers being launched in the last couple of months. One of them, SceneBytes, was already featured on this blog in a previous article. Today’s post is about another successful new torrent site; AlphaOmega (AO). AO is a private tracker based on Gazelle codebase. The site tracks both scene and P2P releases including latest movies, music albums, TV episodes, eBooks, PC + console games, software releases and more. Although AO is quite new, it has so far got the basics correct. Tons of new uploads every day, good pre times, seedbox hosted torrents and unique packs – what more could you ask from a new general tracker?

AlphaOmega.Me

For those interested about the back-story of AO, quite a lengthy description of it can be found in their Wiki section. A part of it is quoted below:

AlphaOmega (AO) was started by a group of guys that met on various top name private trackers. Most had been staff at some point or another.
They decided that it was time from them to come together and do things the way they couldn't on other trackers. This staff used their abilities and experience working behind the scenes of a torrent site to build a site that would rival all others. AO was designed to blow past all others, and leave them in the dust pulling up their pants. AO's staff is composed of elitists in the torrent world, composed of the top coders, racers, uploaders, and designers.
The site structure is something that has never been seen before. We are pulling releases from top group access on multiple gbit servers. At this point, each torrent is seeded from multiple gbit servers, meaning you will see the greatest speed possible. These releases are auto-uploaded meaning the pre-times are some of the best.
The site is beginning with seed-box only as the means of uploading and download, this provides much high speeds. The site will never have open sign ups. Once the first round of users have been invited then they each will be given a number of invites. AlphaOmega will make it easy for members to invite friends, This is part of AO's plan to make this the highest quality private tracker out there.

Although it’s only been one and a half months since the official launch of AO, the site has already amassed over 4600 active torrents. Around 100 new torrents seem to get uploaded every day. And true to their words in the intro above, uploaded torrents indeed seem to be seedbox hosted. Download speeds are great and pre times are not bad either.

AlphaOmega is a general/0day tracker. However, it’s not a scene only tracker such as SCC or SBT. Both scene releases as well as P2P uploads are indexed here. In addition to common releases (which can be found on most other torrent sites), AO has their own internal releases exclusive to the tracker. Some of these unique uploads can be found on the screenshot below:

AlphaOmega Index

Registrations for AlphaOmega are currently open. All new users are rewarded with a whopping 50GB of free upload credits and 2 free invites. If you are looking to be part of a cool new general tracker, check this out.

Nowadays a dozen new General/0Day torrent trackers pop up every month it’s just not news anymore. Most of these sites have the same basic layout, same set of torrents and the same set of generic users. In a world populated by thousands of well established General trackers, this is just not good enough to stay afloat – majority of these new sites die out after a couple of months due to lack of activity, funding or internal disputes. However, every once in a while there comes a new general BitTorrent tracker that shows promise – and SceneBytes (SbT) seems to be one of those rare cases. SBT is a scene only torrent tracker – the site tracks almost every scene release that is considered non spam, and at good speeds too. We’ve already seen threads relating SBT to the legendary SceneTorrents (ScT) – these rumors probably have no truth whatsoever but the site does indeed have good pre times.

SceneBytes Logo

Even before a month into their official launch, SBT has already managed to secure a user base of over 3500 registered members. This is in fact a good number for a start up tracker that’s been open for signup only occasionally. Active torrent count at SbT currently hovers somewhere around 2500 mark. Since there is a healthy flow of new daily torrents, expect this number to increase rapidly.

As we mentioned earlier, this is a scene only torrent tracker. However, it does not index each and every scene release out there – only non spam releases are uploaded. In other words, you can pretty much find on SbT all popular movie, game, e-book, music and TV shows moments after they are leaked online. In addition to common uploads available on almost any other General/0Day tracker, SbT indexes some unique packs - some of these are visible in the screenshot below:

Scenebytes Packs

For those of you who are concerned about the ‘good looks’, you’d be glad to hear that SbT has a visually pleasing design. The site features a streamlined user interface with fast, smooth navigation. The default color scheme is easy on the eye and the layout is clean and uncluttered.

During it’s lifetime of ~1 months, SbT has been occasionally opening and closing open signups. They were closed during the past week or so but have now re opened registrations ahead of Christmas. If you are looking to become part of a new General/0DAy tracker, check this site out.
