If you love untouched DVDR releases instead of DVD Rips, here is some good news. RoDVD (aka Restricted-Zone), a private torrent tracker specializing in DVDR releases, is currently open for signup. Almost all the releases in RoDVD are DVD5/DVD9 movies which come complete with original DVD menus, subtitles and other extras. Both scene releases as well as RoDVD’s own uploads are indexed on this site.

As you may have already figured out, RoDVD is a Romanian tracker. But that does not necessarily mean all movies indexed on this tracker are in Romanian language. In fact, most of them have English audio. The language tag on torrent title (Ex- Passengers.2008.LiMiTED.PAL.ROMANiAN.DVDR-PRaF) usually specifies language of subtitles available on the DVDR. To view the actual audio language, go to the torrent description and look under ‘Audio’ or ‘Language’ sections.

RoDVD indexes both scene releases as well as p2p releases. Indexed P2P releases seem to be unique to this tracker (they have ‘RoDVD’ tag instead of release group name). As of 28/2/2009, RoDVD tracks close to 1000 torrents. Another positive aspect of this tracker is it’s layout – RoDVD has a unique, nice looking layout.

I know a lot of you guys are looking for a proper trainer for Warhammer 40000 : Dawn of War 2 but for the moment, you’ll have to be satisfied with +1 trainer (promotional). Warhammer 40000 : Dawn of War 2 v1.0/1.1.1 Trainer and Language Changer

When it comes to private torrent trackers, most people use ‘pre times’ as a measure of the site’s quality. Did you know that there are several IRC channels that are dedicated to ‘measuring’ the pre times of various general/0day trackers? These are called ‘Tracer’ channels. Tracers record pre times of individual torrent releases (each release is a ‘race’) on various trackers and the site that has best pre time is considered to be the winner of a race. This article is about #Tracers channel on irc.p2p-net.eu, one of the most popular and easily accessible channels of this type that are currently around.

What’s ‘pre time’ ?

Before we move on, let’s first clarify what’s meant by the term ‘pre time’. ‘Pre time’ is basically the time it takes for a torrent tracker to upload a particular scene release once it’s been pre’d (released) on topsites. In general, trackers with shorter pre times are considered better since they allow faster access to scene releases.

What’s #Tracers and #tr.chat?

The IRC channel we are talking about is #Tracers on IRC server irc.p2p-net.eu. The main channel (#Tracers) monitors and notifies on race wins and new torrent releases. In addition, there is another channel #tr.chat which allows users to post queries and check statistics of listed private trackers. The following user commands are available in the #tr.chat channel (commands list can be accessed by typing the command !trhelp):

1. !sitelist - Lists all sites with info added, regardless of whether or not they have any race wins.
2. !sites [-spam] - Returns all sites tracked by P2P-NET Tracers and their all-time standings. If the "-spam" tag is added, it will also include spam wins.
3. !db [-spam] - Returns various information about the Tracers database. If the "-spam" tag is added, it will also include spam races.
4. !siteinfo <site.initials> - Returns various information about the specified site.
5. !search <release.name> - Returns who won the race to upload the specified release, and all other sites with it currently uploaded as well.
6. !daystats [-spam] - Returns all race statistics for the last 24 hours. If the "-spam" tag is added, statistics will also include wins from spam categories.
7. !weekstats [-spam] - Returns all race statistics for the last 7 days. If the "-spam" tag is added, statistics will also include wins from spam categories.
8. !monthstats [-spam] - Returns all race statistics for the last 30 days. If the "-spam" tag is added, statistics will also include wins from spam categories.
9. !yearstats [-spam] - Returns all race statistics for the last year. If the "-spam" tag is added, statistics will also include wins from spam categories.
10. !last10 [<site.initials>] [-spam]- Returns the last 10 wins recorded. If you add the <site.initials>, then it will return the last 10 uploads from the specified site. If the "-spam" tag is added, it will also return spam uploads.

For example if you type !siteinfo SCC into mIRC (or any other IRC client) while being logged into #tr.chat, you’ll get details about SceneAccess.

A great thing about #Tracers is that it does not ‘forget’ any race wins. All wins by a tracker are recorded and become visible to users. Typing the command !sites on #tr.chat will give you a list of traced sites sorted by the number of their overall race wins.

Torrent-Racers (#TRACERS) – Check which private tracker has the best pre times

By now you probably know that majority of the pirated material (movies, music, games, e-books and everything else) in the world originate from ‘the scene’. ‘The Scene’ comprises of many release groups (RELOADED, PUKKA, DiAMOND, RAZOR1911, etc) whose members are scattered across the globe. Since ‘The Scene’ is an underground community, scene groups do not normally use conventional means to communicate with each other. This is where ‘Scene Notices’ come in.

‘Scene notices’ are public (public to scene members that is) messages similar to .NFOs that scene members use to brag, flame, regroup, coordinate activities and make announcements regarding the warez scene. These are usually posted on scene topsites, sometimes as directories. Memorable (and quite hilarious) Scene Notices I’ve read in the recent past include the one that started all the rumors about ‘PEG Tracker"’ as well as another that exposed the staff at ScT. Another Scene Notice that’s quite unforgettable is

FBI_BUSTS_MANY_ARRESTED_TIME_TO_GO_HIDE-IND

which was posted when Operation Site Down hit the core of the scene back in 2005. Nowadays an increasing number of SceneNotices are targeted at exposing members who leak scene releases to private torrent trackers (remember- sceners hate p2p). 

As you can see it’s all very interesting. But how can you read these if you are not a scene member? This is where SceneNotice.org comes in. It’s a public site that indexes and archives selected SceneNotices posted on topsites, IRCs, etc.

 

The site currently has an archive of over 600 SceneNotices. A search feature as well as an RSS feed is also present. When viewing posts at SceneNotice.org, you may need to zoom in using your browser as the default font used is a little too small. Note that this site does not index each and every Scene Notice – only a selected few are posted. It’s still is a good read and if you are interested go and have a look.

Scene Notice – Read inside information on the warez scene

Portable Media Torrents (or PMTorrents) is a private torrent tracker that specializes in applications, games and video (movies and TV shows) for mobile devices. If you are the owner of a portable device such as Zune, iPod/iPod touch, PSP or a PDA, chances are that you’ll find some useful downloads on PMTorrents. This is a relatively new tracker that started out a few months ago but it has already acquired a reasonable userbase of several thousand members.

As of 26/2/2009, PMTorrents has an active user base of 5250+ members and tracks close to 500 torrents. Apart from few applications and games for various mobile devices, PMTorrents has a good collection of movies and TV episodes. All video files on this tracker are mobile optimized – they’ve been re-encoded to better support playback on portable devices (most of the movies, TV shows and documentaries are in MP4 format). I was able to find re-encoded versions of even some of the newest movie releases.

Note that even though PMTorrents have their own BitTorrent tracker, some of the indexed torrents are tracked by a (public?) tracker run by RARBG. These seem to be the same torrents that are indexed on PODTROPOLIS and such releases usually have hundreds of seeders/leechers.

Currently the site is open for public signups. If you own a mobile device and are looking for mobile optimizes videos, PMTorrents is a good place to start your search.

PM Torrents – TV, movie & other video downloads for iPHONE, iPOD, ZUNE, PDA

Scene group ViTALiTY (VTY) seems to have found a new method of pwning Valve’s Steam protection. Silent Hill Homecoming (aka Silent Hill 5) is the second Steam protected title the group has released in the past 7 days, the first one being Warhammer 40000 : Dawn of War 2. It’s not the first time a PC game released exclusively via Steam has leaked but what’s interesting about ViTALiTY’s version is that it does not contain hacked Steam clients, custom installers, configuration file editing or anything of that sort.

The following is quoted from the ViTALiTY NFO:

This game is steam and we did not have to use a third party installer, because we aint stupid!

Btw did anyone notice that the instructions on ViTALiTY NFO always ends with an offensive line such as ‘rot in hell’, ‘rest in pieces’ or ‘die like the rest’? VTY has always been known as an aggressive group even in their early days when they initiated nukewars with other competing scene groups (specially with RELOADED whose working releases were PROPERED by VTY for using emulation).

Silent Hill : Homecoming was released back in November 2008 in North America. A working steam rip (P2P source) of the game leaked on BitTorrent networks about a week after the game’s NA release.

ViTALiTY cracks Silent Hill : Homecoming (PC) Steam protection

Drakensang : The Dark Eye is an RPG game by developed by Germa developer Radon Labs. Localized versions of Drakensang were released back in August, 2008 and the international version was released about two days ago on the 24th of February. Just two days after INT release Razor1911, a veteran group from the warez scene, claims to have cracked the game’s Digital Rights Management (DRM) system.

Drakensang : The Dark Eye is (or ‘was’) protected by Sony’s SecuROM v7 DRM system. Razor1911 are not exactly new to cracking this type of protection – earlier this year they cracked SecuROM in LOTR: Conquest and have cracked numerous other titles throughout 2008 as well. Razor1911’s release includes a full DVD ISO of the game as well as a cracked exe with SecuROM protection stripped from it. Cracked version of the game has now spread to private and public torrent trackers, one click hosting sites such as RapidShare, public FTP sites, etc.

Speaking of the game, I’ve read several positive user opinions about Drakensang : The Dark Eye on various gaming forums. IGN review has also given it a respectable overall score of 7.6. Although not hugely popular, this looks like a game worth playing.

Pirates crack Drakensang: The Dark Eye DRM

Cinemageddon (CG) is a well known private torrent tracker that specializes in B-movies, horror flicks and other rare/cult movies. You may have spotted Cinemageddon listed on various open signup checker sites and open signup threads quite frequently. However, signups for this tracker usually close within minutes as only 2-3 spots become available at a time (due to automatic account deletion). This time around open signups will be a little more permanent– CG has increased the user limit by 1000 members.

When it comes to cult movie trackers, CG is probably the largest and the most content rich tracker currently online. It has close to 25000 torrents and around 20000 active members. It’s content mostly comprise of B-Movies, horror movies, kung-fu and martial arts related flicks, older comedy movies such as the ‘Carry on’ series, etc. Video and audio quality of films on CG are generally good – these range from VHSRip, TVRip, DVDRip to untouched DVD-R. In addition to the movie torrents Cinemageddon tracks around 1500 OSTs (official soundtracks) as well. Most of the content on this tracker are older, rare and rather unknown stuff you’ll probably never find on any other torrent site.

A noticeable feature of Cinemageddon is the credits system – something similar to the seed bonus system present on many trackers. You can earn credits by seeding (selected torrents), filling/making requests, buying lottery tickets, playing roulette, etc. You can then buy upload GB by spending earned credits (ex- 25GB upload for 200 credits). CG also has a system called ‘featured torrents’ – if a spinning gold coin is displayed next to the title of a torrent, 50% download reduction as well as seeding bonus applies to that.

As mentioned in the title of the article CG has increased user limit from 20000 to 21000. There are around 800 more spots available. If you are a fan of cult movies, go get an account now.

Yahoo released yet another new build of its popular IM client about a day ago. Yahoo! Messenger build 9.0.0.2136 is currently the latest build available as of today (25/2/09). As usual there is no changelog associated with the release and there is no way to know what changes are incorporated into this build. However upgrading to the most recent build is recommended due to security and reliability reasons.

Yahoo! Messenger 9.0.0.2136 - Offline, Standalone Installer Download

Among the several hundred private torrent trackers posted on FILEnetworks Blog, there’s been several huge general trackers such as Zamunda, ArenaBG and Linkomanija which are managed by individuals from countries such as Bulgaria, Lithuania, etc. Although some of these trackers may not be popular globally, they’ve become huge hits in their home countries. A large number of users as well as huge torrent indexes are often found in these lesser-globally-known trackers. Partis.si is another huge  BiTTorrent tracker, this time from Slovenia.

Don’t be mistaken when we say this tracker is Slovenian – it tracks plenty of English releases as well. As of 25/2/2009, Partis indexes 25000+ torrents and has over 208000 members (told you it was huge). Among the torrents tracked are English scene releases, English p2p releases (including lots of aXXo movie torrents) as well as Slovenian releases (dubbed, subbed or original content from Slovenia).

In addition to individual torrents, there are a lot of packs on Partis.si. Most of these however are not unique and seem to have been take from other trackers such as TL, TD, ScT and even TVT.

Note that even though this tracker has lots of English releases, the site interface is 100% Slovenian. If you have used another private tracker, it would be extremely easy to find your war around in Partis.si – even if you did not know jackshit about Slovenian language. Partis.si – Huge Slovenian private torrent tracker open

Although BitTorrent has gained huge popularity as a medium for transferring large files, RapidShare is still one of the most widely used file hosting/transfer services in the world. One of the main problems with RapidShare is that it does not allow searching of its database. This has lead to the inception of many 3rd party search engines that hunt of RapidShare links scattered across the web. RapidStack is one such search engine but this one performs searches in real time.

The official description of RapidStack is as follows:

RapidStack – Search for working and live RapidShare links in real time

Scene group ViTALiTY, after cracking Warhammer 40000 : Dawn of War 2 a few days ago, are back with another major PC title. Tom Clancy’s Endwar is a real time strategy game which was initially released for the consoles back in 2008. Windows version of the game was scheduled to be released on the 24th of February and unsurprisingly, it has leaked on the very same day. What’s interesting about Endwar is that it does not contain any DRM or other form of copy protection mechanism.

ViTALiTY’s release includes a full DVD ISO image of the game. Unlike in most cases, a modified or cracked executable is not included. Pirates are simply able to mount the leaked image using a disk virtualization tool and play the game. Leaked ViTALiTY version has already spread onto several private torrent trackers:

#3 RBy (16m 27s ap)

As usual, this is expected to spread to public BitTorrent sites, one click hosting sites, public FTP sites and so on.

This is the second time in the last few months UBISOFT have released a well known PC title without DRM. Back in December 2008 they released Prince of Persia for the PC which did not include any anti piracy measure as well. It’s always good to see developers not resorting to invasive digital rights management software such as SecuROM. Buy the game if you can.

ViTALiTY leaks Tom Clancy’s Endwar – No DRM present, no crack needed

There was once a time when ratio free private trackers were a rarity in the BitTorrent scene. Even the few that existed were pretty hard to get into. The times have changed – there are plenty of ratio free trackers out there and it’s extremely easy to become a member of some of them. This post lists 8 such trackers that are currently open for public signups. Most of the sites mentioned have been reviewed before on FILEnetworks Blog and the links to full review have also been included.

Although the title of the article says ‘ratio free’ trackers, we’ve included two sites that do have a ratio system; ArenaBG and RARBG. Although there is a ratio system present on these sites, they do not enforce any mandatory ratio rules or requirements.  Most of the trackers listed do not require users to maintain a global upload:download ratio. However be aware that you may need to seed a torrent for a minimum time period – always check the rules and FAQ pages of a tracker. Keep in mind that ‘ratio free’ is not your ticket to do hit and runs at will.

On the 17th of February 2009, final build of Streamripper 1.64.4 was released - direct download link for this version can be found at the end of this article.

One of the specialties of Streamripper is that it’s able to detect separate audio tracks in a MP3 or OGG Vorbis stream. That is, the program is capable of finding where one track ends and another one begins, automatically. This is done by scanning for silent marks in the audio stream. It’s a pretty useful app that’s been around for nearly 9 years – check it out.

Record MP3 and OGG Vorbis audio streams to hard disk using StreamRipper 1.64.4

RandomBytes (Rby) is a private torrent tracker which tracks a lot of releases from the warez scene. Unlike specialized trackers it does not focus on a specific category of torrents. RandomBytes has average download speeds and good pre times. It has also acquired a reasonable user base and  looks like a good tracker to start with for new entrants to the BitTorrent scene (that’s not saying it’s a no-no for hard core users).

As I mentioned earlier, one of the positives about RBy is its pre times. Although elites such as SCC and ScT beat RBy hands down, it has better pre times than most general trackers out there. RBy has won 350+ ‘pre time races’ on #Tracers channel (await a separate article on this) and is placed at the 8th position out of 30+ trackers. As of 23/2/2009, RBy tracks 3200+ torrents and has a user base of 3700+ members. 

The content on RBy are mostly scene releases. There are not many packs to speak of here.

RandomBytes has a seed bonus system – when you seed torrents for extended time periods, bonus points are added. These can later be used to purchase upload credit to give your global ratio a boost.

Pretome Registration Key – March 2009

Some good news for those who had problems with the previous F.E.A.R. 2 : Project Origin trainers. Scene group BReWErS just released a PLUS 10 trainer (10 options – save anywhere, unlimited ammo, unlimited health, unlimited armor, etc). I tested this with my FEAR2 installation (DIE release) and it seemed to work just fine. When it comes to game trainers, BReWErS is one of the best groups so there is nothing strange there.

How to run the Trainer and What it does

Launch the trainer (bws-f2po.exe) before you launch the game. Keep it running in the background and press one of the following keys while in game to activate the corresponding effect:

FEAR 2 : Project Origin working trainer by BReWErS (10 options) - Download

You probably already know about CoExist.in (CE), a ratio free private music torrent tracker which was initially based on the Gazelle codebase. It looks as if CE has downgraded from the Gazelle to TBDEV script - the migration seems to have reset the torrent index as well as the user database. Although the site is open for signup and anyone is able to create an account, the new incarnation of CE is not complete yet. It’s just been launched and lots of things are still being worked on by its coders.

This is what ragincajun (CE Admin) wrote on TPS forums:

Ok guys, the site is not "open" for signups right now. We just got tbdev up on the server yesterday, so all it is right now is a skeleton of a tracker. If you feel that you must sign up right now go ahead, but I wouldn't advise it.

Now this should clear any doubts you had about whether or not CE was going to have open signups.  There is an additional note placed on the site’s homepage:

CoExist tracker re-launches on TBDEV

Here is a short open signup update after a while. Three private torrent trackers, ScenePirates, FreeTheScene (FTS), GBVNET and SITR (SmokingInTheRain) are all open for signup at time of writing. All of these are general trackers which track movies, music, games, E-books, zero day software releases and more. Out of these sites, FreeTheScene (FTS) runs on the Gazelle codebase.

ScenePirates, FreeTheScene, GBVNET & S.I.T.R. open for signup - 21/2/2009

RSS and E-Mail updates on new torrent releases are now being provided by most private and public BitTorrent trackers out there. But have you ever heard about SMS updates on new torrent releases? Wouldn’t it be cool if you could get notified via SMS when RELOADED releases the latest PC game, or when group mVs leaks a DVD Screener of a highly anticipated movie? Well, it’s possible and we are going to tell you how.

This is made possible by combining several free services such as Twitter, TwitterFeed and Twe2. All you need to get SMS updates is a Twitter account, a TwitterFeed account, and a phone connected to a mobile network compatible with Twe2 service. 

This is how it works

We’ve provided step by step instructions below to setup SMS updates on new torrent releases. Although it may seem a lengthy process, it’s actually very simple. Check it out.

Creating a new Twitter account

First, you need to create a new Twitter account. Twitter account will be used to relay the torrent release updates via SMS. When signing up for a new account, It is important that you choose a unique text string as the username. This text should not already be present anywhere in the Twitter database. SMS updates will be based on a search for your Twitter username – if you choose a common name, you will get SMS updates unrelated to torrent releases. To determine if your username is really unique, do a search for it on http://search.twitter.com/. If the search returns no results, go ahead with the chosen name. If the search returns 1 or more results that means the string is common – choose another.

 

1. Go to http://twitter.com/signup and create a new account. Remember the username and password of this account – you will need them later.

TwitterFeed Configuration

Now, you have to integrate the RSS feed from the private/public BitTorrent tracker into the Twitter account. This can easily be done using TwitterFeed.

2. Visit www.twitterfeed.com and create a new account. Login using the newly created TwitterFeed account and click on ‘go to my twitter feeds (or create a new one)’.

3. Click on create new feed. You will be asked to fill a form.

4. In ‘username’ and ‘password’ fields, type the same username and password used for the Twitter account you created at step 1. Paste a compatible RSS feed from private tracker into the ‘RSS feed’ field. Note: For more help on finding a compatible RSS feed, see the ‘How to find a suitable RSS feed’ section below. Set the ‘Update Frequency’ to ‘Every 30 minutes’.

5. Now this is important – make sure you un-tick the ‘Include item link’ checkbox (See screenshot below). If you use the RSS feed of a private tracker, leaving this checkbox ticked will expose your passkey to the public - this could get you banned from the tracker.

6. Tick the ‘Active’ checkbox to activate the feed and press the update button.

Twe2 Configuration

As we mentioned in a previous article, Twe2 is a free service that delivers Twitter messages via SMS even to countries not supported by Twitter (for more information about this service and a list of supported countries, look here).

7. Visit http://twe2.com and login to Twe2 using username and password of the Twitter account you created at step 1. 

8. If you have not confirmed your mobile number, you will be prompted to do so. Enter the confirmation SMS code you receive in your mobile to complete the process.

9. Now you need to setup Twe2 so that it’ll search for and send SMS updates about any new tweets from your Twitter account. This is very easy. Go to ‘Twe2 Alerts’ panel in your Twe2 account. In the text field next to ‘Add Search Term’ button, enter the username of your Twitter account you created at Step 1. Press the ‘Add Search Term’ button to add the entry.

10. That’s it.  You should start receiving SMS updates on your mobile soon. Just wait a few hours for the RSS feeds to be updated and Twe2 messages to be sent.

Additional information – Choosing an RSS feed

Most private and public BitTorrent trackers now provide RSS updates. On private trackers these can usually be found on the links.php page (ex-http://www.sitename.com/links.php). Some sites index these under rss.php page. On Gazelle based trackers and several other bittorrent sites, you can get the URL of RSS feed by simply logging onto the site and clicking on the orange RSS icon on the browser address bar.

Feeds compatible with TwitterFeed

Some of the private tracker RSS feeds are incompatible with TwitterFeed. If you try to use an incompatible feed, TwitterFeed will return the error message “We couldn't find valid date/time stamps or GUIDs on items. Please make sure your feed contains valid pubDate entries or GUIDs for each post.”. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any workaround in such cases. Only option is to use the feed of another tracker. Here is a list of public and private site RSS feeds that we've found to be working with TwitterFeed.

• Tvrss.net – a site that offers RSS feeds on TV episode releases
• Bitmetv
• RsR (Romanian ShareReactor)
• TorrentBytes
• Bitme
• Seedit
• and possibly tons more which we didn't have the time to test (Check the sites in our private trackers section)

Note that some trackers offer categorized RSS feeds. Subscribing to a categorized feed is usually better (some trackers allow you to combine updates from several categories into one RSS feed). Subscribing to the entire feed will send SMS updates for every torrent added to the tracker whether you like it or not. When you subscribe to categorized or custom feeds, make sure you choose the ‘no cookies’ version.

Known limitations of this method

• Sometimes it may take around 1 hour since the release of a torrent for the SMS to arrive
• A maximum of 10 SMS updates can be sent per hour

How to get free SMS updates on new torrent releases (Movies, Games, TV & More)

After a long time scene group ViTALITY releases a major PC title – and it looks as if they’ve done it in style. Earlier we reported about p2p groups such as rForce & WiCKED releasing leaked versions of Warhammer 40000 : Dawn of War 2 on BitTorrent. Although these were all working releases of the game, there was no true crack included in any of them. DoW 2 uses Steam and Windows Live protection (xlive) as an anti piracy measures as well as to prevent modification of core game files.

ViTALITY’s release does not involve any config file editing as in previous releases by rForce, GTI or WiCKED. It’s basically the old school ‘replace-original-with-cracked-exe’ procedure.  As usual, ViTALITY’s NFO contains some interesting comments:

This game is steam and we did not have to use a third party installer, because we aint stupid!

This is obviously a crack at other completing scene groups such as D.I.E. and Razor1911 who often use custom installers to bypass Steam protection.

ViTALiTY’s release has already made it to private torrent trackers:

Group ViTALiTY cracks Warhammer 40000 : Dawn of War 2

Private torrent trackers have risen to popularity of the past couple of years and now there are thousands of them online, with new sites being launched daily. Out of these sites, only a few such as TorrentLeech, TorrentBytes, BitMe, BoxTorrents, etc have managed to stay online for more than 4 years. How about a private torrent tracker that’s more than 6 years old?

FatalTracker (FT) is a community based site which is celebrating its 6th birthday in 2009. I don’t know the exact date this site started out – apparently even the FT admins don't know that for sure. But this sure as hell is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) private trackers currently online.

For a BitTorrent site that’s 6 years old, FT’s stats are nothing spectacular. It has a user base of around 530 members and tracks a little over 1000 torrents. Reason for the relatively low member count is perhaps due to not many people knowing of its existence -I’ve not seen this tracker being mentioned a lot of BitTorrent forums, open signups checkers, etc. Besides, FT is a community based tracker and the admins don’t seem to care about numbers anyway.

As for the content on FT, it’s a general tracker with lots of movie releases. Pre times are average and most of the torrents are scene releases.

Download speeds on FT are not bad at all – the site is powered by 3 seedboxes which are more than enough to cater for its small user base. Following is quoted from homepage:

If your download speed is slow , you need to get "connectable" 90% of these files come from seedboxes,I can usually DL @ 1.4mbits. If you dont know how to become "connectable" Join the FORUMS we can help.

FatalTracker has a seed bonus system you can earn points by seeding torrents or by winning competitions. Points earned can later be exchanged for upload credit, etc. FT is also known for extended free leech periods – for example currently every torrent on the site is on free leech. One of the downsides with FT is its layout – it’s not the most attractive tracker interface out there (this is my personal opinion).

As of 19/2/2009, FT is open for public signups. From what I’ve heard they’ll stay open till the 23rd of this month and then shut the doors for another year. If you like to be part of a community based tracker, go ahead and signup while its open (new users get 2GB free upload credit).

FatalTracker – Oldest private BitTorrent tracker?

If you are a fan of BitTorrent, you probably are aware of the ongoing court case against Pirate Bay – the largest torrent tracker on the planet. Several BitTorrent news sites such as TorrentFreak and Zeropaid have been posting daily updates on the trial with detailed accounts of what really happened at the courts. But did you know that you can follow the pirate bay trial as it happens on Twitter?

One of the live twitter feeds on TPB trial is run by Sofia, a Swedish blogger. Unlike most live feeds that are around, Sofia’s updates are in English. To get live updates, all you have to do is to follow her twitter feed  http://twitter.com/Sofia. Some of the abbreviations used in her tweets are explained on blog posts here and here.

Another way you can get live updates on the court case is by following http://twitter.com/spectrial. Spectrial is a bot which scans http://trial.thepiratebay.org/ periodically for updates in English and then sends tweets to its followers. It updates about 4 times per hour when court is in session otherwise around 2 message per hour.

And let’s hope the Pirate Bay will win this one, for the sake of BitTorrent trackers around the world.

Torrent Tracker Open Signups – 10 BitTorrent sites open for registration - 19/2/2009

NVIDIA have release a non-beta driver version after some time. Geforce ForceWare 182.06 (Release 182) drivers are compatible with GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, and 200-series desktop GPUs and are WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) certified. In addition to OpenGL 3.0 support, these drivers also contain the latest version of NVIDIA PhysX System software. Direct download links for 32/64 bit driver versions for Windows Vista and XP can be found towards the end of this article.

Note that I’ve not had the time to test the new drivers with any of the games installed. However if you are playing newer titles such as FEAR 2 (up to 10% performance increase over ForceWare 181.22), Mirror’s Edge and Dawn of  War 2, v182.06 drivers are recommended.

NVIDIA Geforce ForceWare 182.06 Drivers (WHQL) - Direct Download

Most of us are familiar with the infamous micro blogging service Twitter. Among the many new features introduced by Twitter was an SMS updates feature which delivered status messages right into users mobile phones. Some fans of this service were disappointed when Twitter suspended offering SMS updates to some countries a few months ago. Here is the good news - Twe2 is a new free 3rd party service that delivers SMS updates even to countries that are not supported by Twitter.

To set up SMS updates, just login to Twe2 with your Twitter username and password. You will then be required to confirm your mobile via an SMS code. I did not experience any delays with confirmation SMS when I signed up.

Twe2 supports a long list of countries including Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Romania, Sweden, Netherlands, New Zealand, Australia, and lots more (see here for a full list of supported countries). Twe2 SMS service seems to be powered by Wadja.com – sometimes you get a few lines of advertisements in SMS updates. Considering the fact that this service is free, this is something I can live with. Twe2 – Get Twitter SMS updates even in unsupported and blocked countries

About a month ago, we posted an article about SceneRace (ScR), a Gazelle based General/0Day tracker started by several Ex-Funfile uploaders. Now, just after a month since their launch, SceneRace have introduced the first major change to the tracker – SceneRace v2. One of the highlights in SceneRace 2 is the tracker going ratio-free. Several other new features including enhancements to site interface, search feature, changes to upload system too have been introduced.

ScR coders had already managed to implement a ‘credits system’ even before the launch of v2. According to site admins, there will soon be some new features in ScR v2 such as casinos that’ll tighten the integration the credits system.

SceneRace currently tracks close to 500 active torrents and has over 2700 members. This tracker was open for signup until today but with the launch of ScR v2 the open registration period has ended. SceneRace now a ratioless tracker

Earlier we reported about Warhammer 40000 : Dawn of War 2 being leaked on BitTorrent. This post aims to discuss errors, crashes, graphics issues, sound issues, language issues and various other problems you may encounter with the game. Also included in the article are download links for recommended drivers and software that are required to run DoW 2 (Steam, GFWL 2.0, etc). More solutions and tips to enhance performance will be added as they are discovered.

Note that the first patch for Dawn of War 2 is scheduled to be released  on the same day as the game’s North American street date. This patch will hopefully fix most of the problems with the game. When the patch is released, the article will be updated with a download link.

How to change game settings manually by editing DOW 2 configuration files

Like all previous Relic games, you can manually edit the configuration files in Warhammer 40000 : Dawn of War 2.

1. If you are using Windows Vista browse to : C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Dawn of War 2\Settings folder. If you are using Windows XP browse to:
   \…..\My Documents\My Games\Dawn of War 2\Settings folder.
2. Inside there should be a file named configuration.lua
3. Open this file with a text editor such as notepad. You can change the values in various settings through this file. Once done, save and close it.

Note: If you make any mistakes while editing the configuration.lua file, it could lead to access violation error messages with the game. Proceed at your own risk.

How to unlock ‘Ultra’ quality display settings in DoW 2

If you are using an operating system other than Windows Vista 64-bit, you may find that you cannot select ‘ultra’ graphics setting in game. On the initial release of DOW2, the ‘Ultra’ options can only be set on Windows Vista 64-bit OS. According to release notes of the DOW 2 Patch 1, this will be one of the issues fixed:

Added a "-disable32bitcheck" command line switch to allow 32bit users to run with Ultra textures.

Once you install the patch, start the game with the -disable32bitcheck parameter. How to:

1. Create a desktop shortcut to dow2.exe
2. Right click the newly created shortcut and select properties.
3. Add –disable32bitcheck to the end of filename in target field. Ex- X:\……\dow2.exe -disable32bitcheck

Can’t wait till the patch is released. Is there any other way?

The disable32bitcheck parameter will only be enabled once you install Patch 1. If you cant wait till the patch is released, you can always unlock the ultra setting by editing configuration file manually as stated above (see topic).

Note: Make sure your graphics hardware can handle the ultra setting – otherwise this may lead to access violation errors.

How to play Co-Op in Dawn of War 2

Although you may not notice it, Co-Op play is possible in DOW2. Here is how to play Coop

1. Choose ‘Campaign’ from the main menu.
2. Look under the LIVE option – your Windows Live account name will be there.
3. Click the ‘Invite Friend’ button next to your LIVE name to play Co-Op

How to identify DOW 2 compatibility issues with specific video hardware

Did you know that Dawn of War 2 has a text file which includes details of compatibility issues between the game and specific video cards? This file can be of great help when diagnosing and troubleshooting display issues.

1. Navigate to your game’s installation directory. Browse to ‘Drivers’ folder.

2. There will be two text files inside. These files contain driver specific setting and notes on compatibility issues (note that these files contain notes on NVIDIA hardware only.)

Card name and developer notes are highlighted in bold. What it means by ‘driver builds less than this one’ is not known. Desired driver version is probably indicated by the two hexadecimal values below card name. If a similar note is given for your video card, try upgrading to the latest available driver version.

Troubleshooting language issues with Dawn of War 2

Note: This section is a work in progress. Not all language problems with the game are mentioned at this point.

How to change DoW 2 voice and menu language to English

Since some of the game versions released are Multilingual, you may run into scenarios where in game audio and menu text are rendered in languages other than English. If this happens, you can try the following.

1. 1. Create new text document using notepad. Place the following text on the first two lines of the file:
   
   [locale]
   lang=english
   
2. Save the file as locale.ini (Choose Save As—>Set Save AS Type to ‘All Files’ and enter file name as locale.ini)
3. Place the file on the game’s installation directory & run the game.

It should be possible to  select languages tother than English using the same method – edit the lang= line (this will work only if your game version is MULTI and supports the desired language).

Troubleshoot DoW 2 Access violation error messages

There are many access violation error messages reported with the game Ex- dow2.exe caused an Access Violation in module dow2.exe. This can be due to many reasons and pinpointing the source of the problem is not easy. Here are some common stuff you can try to avoid these error messages:

Too much RAM?

On systems with more than 4GB RAM, W40K:DoW2 is known to sometimes give an access violation error. The only known solution is to remove additional RAM slots till the total physical memory of your computer is 4GB or less.

dll files mentioned in error messages?

Some of the access violation error messages include the name of a DLL file. Ex- dow2.exe caused an Access Violation in module ntdll.dll or dow2.exe caused an Access Violation in module DivxDecoder.dll. This dll file name can give important clues on the actual cause of the error. If you get similar error messages, fell free to post the message in the comments section – we’ll to our best to help.

Crashes at game menu or during cut scenes?

One of the common crash to desktop (CTD) errors on DOW 2 seem to occur just after the main menu or during the starting cut scene (or during any other cutscenes). If you encounter similar errors, check if the file names Divxdecoder.dll or divxencoder.dll are included in the error message (check the body of error as well). If so, you may try replacing these files with those included in a previous Relic game such as Company of Heroes or with those obtained from any file repository on the internet. There is no guarantee that this will work - make sure to backup the original files. Note that even if you use custom DLL files, you’ll need to restore the originals if you are to install any update patches.

Forced any settings your hardware could not handle via the game’s configuration file?

As stated above, if you forced any display setting or game setting (through manual config file editing or via command line parameters) that your machine cannot handle (or is incompatible with), this could trigger access violation error messages. Always backup the files before you make any changes and make sure you know what you are doing.

Incompatible hardware? Do you have all required software & drivers?

Access violation errors, crashes to desktop and other errors may be present due to out of date drivers being used or you not having all the required software for the game to run. Check if you video card has any compatibility issues by the method described above. Also make sure you have all the required software mentioned in the ‘Drivers and other Software needed for optimal DOW 2 performance’ section (below).

Solutions for Warhammer 40000 : Dawn Of War 2 errors, crashes & graphics/audio problems

700M.Bz is an interesting looking private torrent tracker. It’s a new site that specializes in 700MB (1CD) and 1.38GB (2CD) XViD encoded movie rips. Movies currently indexed on 700M.Bz are mostly DVDRips and DVD Screeners released by well known scene and p2p groups. Just like other movie torrent trackers such as PassThePopcorn, Tehconnection (Open) and Wunza (Open), 700M.Bz is based on the Gazelle BitTorrent tracker script.

As stated above 700M.Bz is a brand new torrent site – it’s only a few days old and as of now, it’s a pretty unknown tracker. Like all start up trackers, this site too is looking for some new members. A note posted on 700M.BZ homepage says:

Invite your family, invite your friends, invite that random person you met in that chatroom you don't want to talk about. For now every new member receives 2 invites on signup along with 2.8GB of upload credit.

To help everyone get going, we will have various competitions and prizes of upload for people (In 700mb chunks - 1 free film).
The first way you can get some free upload is to troll around the site, and see if you can find any errors, or anything that looks out of place. If you are the first to find the error, post in the bugs forum saying how you made the error appear, and where it is and if confirmed you will be awarded 2.8GB of upload (That's 4 single CD films 700mb rips, or 2 double CD 1.4gb rips).

Currently (17/2/2009), 700M.Bz has 111 registered users and tracks close to 150 movies. Both these stats are expected to improve as news about this tracker spreads. Seeing as XViD is still one of the most popular codecs used in both scene and P2P movie releases, I don’t see this tracker facing a shortage of content anytime soon.

700M.Bz – Private torrent tracker for 700MB and 1.4GB XViD movie rips (Gazelle based)

Some claim Valve’s Steam as the best anti piracy solution to date. However, the increasing number of Steam protected games that have got cracked or leaked in the past few months cast serious doubts on this claim. After the leak of FEAR 2 : Project Origin earlier this month, another steam protected title Warhammer 40000 : Dawn Of War 2 (W40K : DoW2) has again been leaked by pirates before the game’s official Steam release date on most countries.
UPDATE: Group ViTALiTY has cracked Dawn of War 2. Read all about it in this article.

Although we called it a ‘crack’ in the title of this article, the method is basically a workaround similar to the one that was used for FEAR 2. Leaked encryption keys are seemingly used to unpack Dawn of War 2 game files while a hacked steam client dll is used to bypass protection. EDIT: Leaked release looks like a review copy of the game. No major features seem to be missing, however.

Initially, there were two versions of the game leaked on BitTorrent -first a 3.66GB version by GTI (Game-Torrents.Info – a Russian torrent tracker) and then another p2p release by WiCKED. These releases were basically Steam rips and required manual editing of configuration files as well as manual injection of steam encryption keys – a process some pirated found complicated. However the latest release by group rForce (Russian Force – non scene group) seems to have made thing relatively simple. rForce’s release which is around 6.75GB in file size contains all games files, a batch (.bat) file to automate part of the cracking process as well as a loader & a cracked dll file that bypasses/circumvents steam protection. Users however still need to edit the rev.ini file as per instructions on release NFO. Note that both the 3.66GB and 6.75 GB leaked releases are known to work properly without any missing features – huge difference on file sizes seems to be due to different compression mechanisms used.

GTI, WiCKED and rFORCE releases have all made it into private and public BitTorrent trackers across the world. Judging by peer activity on these torrents, most popular leaked version seems to be the rFORCE release.

Online service to download and save YouTube, Metacafe, iFilm videos - KeepVid

Here is a news update on two great private torrent trackers out there; ScL and CZONE. Before you get your hopes up, neither of these are open for signup. However there should be a lot of FILEnetworks Blog readers who are members of these trackers - we have posted several updates when ScL/CZONE were open for signup back in 2008. Existing members (and maybe those willing to get in) may want to check this news out.

ScL launches 2nd phase of expansion
 
ScL (aka ‘The Clover’) has begun another expansion phase. Each existing user (irrespective of member class) has been given 3 invites. TorrentLeech Tracker Invites Giveaway – 17/2/2009

We’ve posted about TorrentBytes (TBy) before but we decided to post an updated article since TBy is one of the most underrated trackers in existence. TBY is a well established General/0Day tracker with a decent user base, great uploaders and nice staff. Started back in 2004/2005, TBy is also one of the oldest private torrent trackers around. Hopefully this post will help both our new and old readers discover one of the greatest private torrent trackers currently online.

One of the strength of TorrentBytes the huge amount of users. It has a user base of over 68000 registered members - this ensures increased seeder activity and ultimately extends the lifetime of a torrent. Popular torrents on TBy usually have more than 1000 seeders. At any given time, Tby tracks between 3000-4500 active torrents - most older individual torrents are deleted once they are integrated into packs.

Speaking of packs on TorrentBytes, they have a whole lot of them. As of 16/2/2009, there were 280+ music packs, 50+ games packs, 650+ TV season packs, 200+ movie packs as well as over 200 0Day software packs. Good thing about these is that most of them are well seeded and are on free leech! Tby without a doubt is one of the best trackers for torrent packs/collections.

While Tby has great content, it’s not a high level tracker and is not hard to get into at all (another great example of why tracker levels don’t mean squat). They don’t have an invite system so the only way in is via during open signup. During the course of 2008, TBy gradually raised their the user limit from 60k to 70k and now there is plenty of room for everyone. TorrentBytes – BitTorrent tracker with movies, music, games, TV & 0Day software packs

You probably have already heard about FileHippo.com – a well known website that offers thousands of freeware, shareware and demo software downloads. But did you know about FileHippo Update Checker? Automatically check for latest system software updates with Update Checker v1.030

We have so far posted about a lot of music torrent trackers here on FILEnetworks Blog but this is the first time a tracker dedicated to Japanese/Korean music is being posted.  ToxicJ is a brand new private tracker that specializes in music from Japan & Korea. Although this site is all about Japanese content, site language and interface is in English. ToxicJ runs on the Gazelle codebase, a BitTorrent tracker script pioneered by what.cd.

First of all ToxicJ is a new private tracker – it’s less than one month old. The site only has around 200 users and indexes close to 50 torrents. Content on this tracker mainly comprise of Japanese/Korean MP3 music tracks (192, 256 and 320 bitrates) ripped from CDs (albums). There are several lossless music tracks in FLAC format available as well.

 

As you can see from the above screenshot, there are a lot of torrents on free leech (this was taken on 15/2/2009). There are 2-3 seeders present on most of the torrents. Just like any other tracker ToxicJ comes with new features of the Gazelle codebase including tagging, faster navigation and so on.

As I said earlier this is a new tracker and not much can be predicted about its future at this point. However, if you are a fan of Japanese or Korean music ToxicJ could be worth checking out – signups are currently open. You will also get 2 free invites upon signup.

ToxicJ – Japanese & Korean music torrent tracker (Gazelle based)

Several good private torrent trackers are currently open for signup so we though of posting another collective update. Private Tracker Open Signups : NordicScene, AZT, ACE-T & More (15/2/2009)

A moment ago we posted about the standalone/offline installer for Windows Live Messenger 2009 build 14.0.8064.0206. This post features a new A-Patch version compatible with this WLM build. A-Patch is a useful little utility that allows you to ‘hack’ messenger and do several customizations that are otherwise unavailable. This includes disabling advertisements, removing unwanted menus, removing minimum nudge delay, enabling polygamy support and several others.

Since version 1.42 and 1.43, number of customization options available on A-Patch has been drastically reduced. the reason according to the developer is the new type of protection present in Windows Live 9 (2009) series of messenger. I’ve been using this app for more than 1.5 years and it hasn't given me any trouble so far. Check it out it’s damn useful.

A-Patch for Windows Live Messenger 2009 build 14.0.8064.0206 – Remove ads & more

Microsoft silently released a new build of Windows Live Messenger 2009 Final earlier this month. WLM 9 build 14.0.8064.0206 is the successor to previously released version 14.0.8050.1202. Up until yesterday, there was no full/standalone installer available for the new build. Users who wanted to download it had to reply on the Windows Live Essentials web installer. If you were looking for an offline installer for Live Messenger 14.0.8064.026, we have some good news.

The offline installer will be useful for people who have multiple computers, limited bandwidth internet connections, unstable internet connections etc. The idea is to download the entire setup file to hard disk and then use it to install on any number of computers whenever, wherever you like.

By the way Microsoft have again refrained from releasing a changelog for this latest update – there is no official word on what has been changed/fixed/improved in build 14.0.8064.0206. I could not find any notable changes between the two versions but upgrading to the latest available build of WLM is highly recommended.

So far I’ve not been able to find a direct download link to the Standalone/Offline installer on Microsoft download center. However, I managed to find one on Softpedia which is just as reliable.

Windows Live Messenger 9 Final 14.0.8064.0206 Standalone/Offline Installer

Over the past few months, many free E-book download sites have been posted here on FILEnetworks Blog. This included both E-Learning torrent trackers as well as sites that contained direct download links for popular books. This post features Gigapedia, probably the largest E-Book download site that’s currently online. Gigapedia is not a torrent tracker – it offers verified download links to thousands of E-Books stored in one click hosting sites such as RapidShare.

For the unregistered user, Gigapedia will look like a simple book review site which does not offer any downloads. This however is far from the truth. Once you create a free account and log in, you’ll see what we mean. There are more than 150000 E-Books (both old and new) spanning across a wide variety of categories waiting to be downloaded. For example, close to 25000 books can be found in the ‘Computers/IT’ section alone. Educational material is not all Gigapedia has in store – I even managed to find complete TinTin and Asterix comic book collections to be online as well.

 
See the numbers in leftmost column? That’s the number of books in that particular category!

Another nice feature of Gigapedia is the category specific RSS feeds. You can subscribe to any one of these feeds and get instant updates when new books are added.

Note that download links for a particular book can only be found in the links tab (located near top left hand corner of book description page):
 
Links mostly point to one click hosting sites such as RapidShare, MegaShare, FileFactory, 4shared, megaupload and so on. All these links are verified – Gigapedia linking to fakes or virus infected files almost never happens.

There are however some downsides of Gigapedia as well.  The Google Custom search embedded into the site rarely helps you find the desired book. Instead of using that, I recommend you use the search located on top right hand corner of the page.
 
Choose ‘Gigapedia’ from the drop down menu, enter your query and hit search.

If I remember correctly, this site was closed to public registrations a while back. Don’t worry - it’s currently open and you can create an account for free.

Gigapedia – E-Book download site (RapidShare, FileFactory, MegaShare Links)

A quick update on several trainers that have been released for FEAR 2 : Project Origin. As usual, Cheathappens have released a promotional version of their trainer which only has one option (increased accuracy). To get the full version which has around 12 options, you need to have a Cheathappens unlimited account (which is a paid subscription).

FYI the full Cheaphappens trainer includes options such as Unlimited Health, Unlimited Armor, Unlimited Ammo, No Reload, No Weapon Overheat, Unlimited Slo-Mo, Improved Accuracy, Increased Sprint Speed, Unlimited Sprint, Hover Mode, No Clipping Mode and Save/Load Position (Teleport). As far as I know, the full trainer has not leaked anywhere yet. You can however download the promotional version for both 1.0 and 1.01 versions of the game.

By the way, I found another trainer for FEAR 2 which has 5 options (created by KelSat). Unlike Cheathappens, this one comes free. Note that I could not test this trainer (it’s for build 1.0 of FEAR 2 and by the time I discovered this one I had updated the game to patch 1.01.2255.0).

How to get into #invites IRC Channel

1. Download and install mIRC from here.
2. Restart your web browser if it was open during mIRC installation.
3. Click on irc.pussytorrents.org:6011/invites  to join the channel.
4. If mIRC presents you with a ‘Link Request’ window, choose ‘Change to the new server and join the channel’ option or ‘open a new connection’ option. Press ok.

If you are not using mIRC, just join #invites channel on server irc.pussytorrents.org:6011 from whatever IRC client you are using. If you don’t have an IRC client installed on your system, you can use the web based IM service Mibbit which supports IRC protocol.

What to do once on the invites IRC Channel?

It’s pretty much explained in detail on the channel topic. But since some people were having problems in the last giveaway, here is a brief tutorial. However it is strongly recommended that you read the current channel topic for the most current information.

1. Go to the link mentioned on the channel topic. Register for a Travian account using a valid email address. Verify your registration by clicking the link on confirmation email.
2. Back on the #invites IRC channel, send a private message (PM) to username mentioned in channel topic with your Travian username, verification number and the E-mail address you used in step 2 above. Sending a PM using mIRC can be done by double clicking on the user’s name from the list on the right panel.

While trying to connect to the IRC channel, you may run into error messages or other issues. Read the possible solutions mentioned below to get around them.

If you get Server ERROR: :Closing Link: [IP] Z:Lined (You look like a bot. Be sure to fill in your nick/ident/realname properly.) while trying to connect using mIRC:

1. Fill in you mIRC Full name, Email Address, Nickname, and Alternative Nickname using believable values - do not use nicks such as Guest23781. (To change these values go to mIRC Tool Menu->Options and Choose ‘Connect’ from right panel).
2. Save the values and reboot your computer. Try reconnecting the channel now.

TorrentLeech IRC Invite Giveaway – 14/2/2009

Did anyone notice that today is Friday the 13th. According to Wikipedia, “Friday the 13th is a superstition about a day of good or bad luck”. Well I don’t know about bad luck but today definitely is a good day for fans of Horror/Cult movies and TV Shows. Why? The Horror Charnel (THC), probably the best private torrent tracker around for horror themed content, has opened signups after being closed for ages.

As of 13/9/2009, THC indexes around 500 torrents (Note that this is the number of active torrents on the tracker - only includes the ones added after October 2008). If you are a fan of horror and cult movies, you’ll feel at home because THC has a great community. It already has a user base of close to 2000 members and the number of users is expected to grow rapidly during the open signups.

As for the content on THC, this tracker indexes both TV shows and movies related to the cult genre. Amongst the torrents indexed are some very rare horror movies, older horror themed TV shows (Friday the 13th TV series, shorts, TV documentaries and more. There are some great packs online as well. The Horror Charnel – Horror and cult movie torrent tracker signups open

By now you probably have heard about private torrent trackers such as ‘The Vault’ (How to get in), ‘The Place’ & ‘The Box’. All these are specialized private trackers which contain some of the rarest torrents around. ‘The Occult’ the the newest project launched by the same folks behind aforementioned sites. Just like their previous projects, TheOccult already tracks a very rare collection of torrents, most of them not found elsewhere.

The Occult has some of the most unusual & uncommon torrent categories I’ve ever seen on a private tracker (Mythology, Scientology, Drugs, Shamanism, Astrology to name a few). As the name suggests, it specializes in torrents related to various cults, ways of living, religions, healing and so on. To get a better idea of the content on this tracker, refer to the categories section towards the end of this article. Media on TheOccult include PDF E-Books, DVDs, MP3 audio, etc.

The Occult, after being in beta for about 1.5 months, seems to be fully operational by now. Currently there are close to 800 registered users and around 350 torrents on this tracker. TheOccult – Torrent Tracker For Mythology, Religion, Astrology, Philosophy & More

I’m posting this here because I think this is too good a collection not to share (and preserve). This post features torrents of several hundred computer magazine scans uploaded to ‘The Pirate Bay’ by user mlarsen2000. Now these are not just any magazines – some of them are nearly 30 years old. I don’t know about you but I find it fascinating to read what the computer gurus wrote back when I wasn’t even born :P. IMHO even the advertisements in these are pretty interesting :)

As you can see from the screenshot above, many popular magazines at that time such as Home Computer, Family Computing, Run, Ahoy!, Torpet, Info Magazine and DieHard are available for download. The uploader has even managed to find and add complete set of issues of some of these magazines (Run, Ahoy!, etc). Note that every single page of a magazine is scanned into an image file (not PDF) – the entire magazine collection (625+ issues) spans over 60GB.

Sites to download comics in CBR, CBZ formats (BitTorrent trackers and direct links)

Video game violence has always been a controversial subject. This topic has attracted so much attention during the recent times and has prompted publishers to release games with toned down blood and gore in some countries. It looks as if the developers of F.E.A.R. 2 : Project Origin too did something similar. Several country specific, localized FEAR 2 versions seem to be void of violent animations and artwork. This post discusses how you can enable blood and gore in these censored versions of FEAR 2.

The workaround described in this article involves replacing a game settings file (LayerA.Arch01) using an unrestricted version of the same file found in FEAR 2 Demo installation (which had full blood/gore effects).

1. Download the unrestricted LayerL.Arch01 file from this torrent. (if you have the FEAR 2 Demo installed, simply copy the LayerA.Arch01 file from there). 
2. Now browse to your FEAR 2 installation directory and replace the current LayerL.Arch01 using the one that you just downloaded.
3. Launch the game. You should now have a new option to turn on/off blood and gore from the in game menu. 

The method described above works on both legitimately purchased versions of FEAR 2 as well as pirated (cracked) copies of the game. Anyway FEAR without gore is pretty gay. Enable gore using this hack and shoot at the gas tank on one of those flame thrower enemies you meet in Level 2. Shit will hit the fan!

How to enable blood and gore in F.E.A.R. 2 : Project Origin

We’ve featured several private torrent trackers that deal exclusively with kids content in our kids trackers section before. The newest kids tracker to join this list is Fox Kids. Fox Kids Tracker is a brand new private BitTorrent site that specializes in rare/old cartoons, live action TV shows and kids movies. Registrations for this tracker are currently open. According to site admins, Fox Kids will become a closed community when the member count reaches 500.

A mass PM sent to Fox Kids members further explains what the administrators have in mind:

We'll close the signups once we have 500 registered users and you can then register only if invited by someone who already has an account. Our goal is to share a lot of rare cartoons, Kids TV Shows for true toon lovers.

Fox Kids Tracker is only 5 days old. There are currently around 200 members and 50+ torrents uploaded to the tracker. Almost all indexed torrents are either packs or full TV seasons. Content on this tracker ranges from cartoons produced in the golden age of animation (1950s and 60s) to cartoons produced in the 2000s. There are some rare TV series & old kids movies uploaded as well. Majority of the torrents are non scene releases – Fox Kids seems to have a great set of uploaders who actually do have access to rare content:

As of now (11/2/2009), every single torrent on the site is on free leech (only the upload amount added to your global ratio). Another good thing I found about Fox Kids Tracker is the layout. They have a colorful and eye catching default layout in addition to three more skins to choose from.

Fox Kids Tracker – Rare/Old Cartoon Torrents, Live Action TV Series & Kids Movies

Earlier we reported how folks from CS.RIN.RU managed to find a way to play the leaked Steam version of FEAR 2 : Project Origin using hacked Steam clients and leaked encryption keys. Since this method involved more than replacing an executable, many newbie pirates found it hard to get the release working. Scene group DIE has now come to their rescue with a new FEAR 2 release.

DIE’s version simply requires users to replace the original exe with a modified one (the usual pirating-for-the-masses method). It is not known whether the modified exe uses a loader to bypass Steam or is fully cracked. Nevertheless the release seems to be working and has already leaked to various private torrent trackers:

#1 ScT (9m 46s ap), #2 TL (13m 41s ap), #3 RBy (14m 18s ap),
#4 SCC (18m 19s ap), #5 TCS (41m 24s ap)

On some pre channels, DIE release has been nuked. However there seem to be people who got it working. The crack from F.E.A.R.2.Project.Origin.CRACK.UNPACK is also known to work with this release. Some have reported that this version of the game does not contain blood and gore. In case you cannot see blood or can’t blow up soldiers, try the fix mentioned in this article.

Group DIE cracks F.E.A.R. 2 : Project Origin

RELOADED returns with another cracked Securom title. Shellshock 2 : Blood Trails is an upcoming FPS with horror elements, published by Eidos interactive. This game is due to be officially released on the 13th February in Europe and 24th February in North America. RELOADED’s cracked release comes 3 days before game’s EU release date and two weeks before it’s NA release. This title does not require online activation and seems to be protected by a lightweight version of SecuROM (no SecuROM PA module).

RELOADED’s release consists of a FULL DVD ISO of the game (size 4.26gb) as well as a cracked exe with DRM removed. As usual, Shellshock 2 : Blood Trails has already leaked to several private BitTorrent trackers:

Pirates crack Shellshock 2 : Blood Trails before release

There has been quite a few F.E.A.R. 2 related articles posted here on FILEnetworks Blog today & yesterday. As opposed to previous articles, this post aims to discuss possible solutions to problems you may encounter with the game. This includes display issues, random crashes, performance issues, language problems and various other errors. We’ve also given a few tips on how to increase game performance. Please note that this article is a work in progress – it will continuously be updated as new problems, solutions, downloads, tweaks and tips for FEAR 2 are discovered.

I’ve played the game for about 1 hour so far and have not had any crashes or any other major issue. The game seems to be pretty well optimized and performance was good even on my low/mid range Geforce 8800. It’s worth mentioning that the frame rate I got with final version was the same as the FPS i got with FEAR 2 Demo which was released earlier.

UPDATE (10/2): How to enable blood and gore in F.E.A.R. 2 : Project Origin

Some versions (German?) of FEAR 2 : Project Origin seem to have blood and gore turned off by default (there is no blood visible when you shoot soldiers or you cannot blow them to pieces :( ) and the option to turn it back on seem to be missing from the game menu. There is a simple workaround for this using a settings file from the FEAR 2 Demo. For a step by step guide on how to do this and required files, please refer to this article.

How to fix the missing x3daudio1_5.dll error message in FEAR 2?

This error is almost always caused by the proper version of Microsoft DirectX not being installed on Windows XP. FEAR 2 comes with a DirectX redistributable installer so it’s only a matter of running the setup. Navigate to \F.E.A.R. 2\Support\DirectX9 folder and execute dx9setup.

How to manually change game language by editing system registry

Sometimes, you may run into problems with in game audio and text language. For example the game may play Russian audio while you need to game to run with English audio. There is no in game option to change the language so use the steps below to manually change it by editing the system registry.

1. Open a new text file in Notepad, paste the following into the new text file:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Monolith Productions\FEAR2\1.00.0000]
"Language"="LANG"

To set a language of your choice, replace “LANG” with any of the following codes:

cs - Czech
de - German
en - English
es - Spanish
fr - French
hu - Hungarian
it - Italian
ja - Japanese
pl - Polish
ru - Russian

For example, if you want the game to run in English, your text file should contain the following:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Monolith Productions\FEAR2\1.00.0000]
"Language"="en"

2. Now save the text file with the .reg extension (Choose File—> Save As –> Select ‘All Files’ from “Save as Type’ and save with the name filename.reg 

3. Now locate the .reg file you jus saved, right click it and select ‘Merge’. Press ok to the dialog box that pops up. Run the game. Note that if your game does not contain the desired language (if it’s not a Multilanguage version), audio stream will default to English.

How to manually change screen resolution and other game settings by editing FEAR 2 configuration files

FEAR 2 : Project Origin configuration files are stored in:
C:\users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\WBGames\FEAR2\settings.cfg file on Vista or \My Documents\WBGames\FEAR2\settings.cfg on XP. All you need to do is to edit this file using a text editor such as Notepad. (Note: Settings.cfg file in FEAR 2 build 1.0.2255.0 is located in a subfolder.)

For example, if you want to change screen resolution manually to 1024x768, change the following lines as below:

"ScreenHeight" "768.000000"
"ScreenWidth" "1024.000000" 

There are several similar options in the settings.cfg file which you can manually edit easily. Please proceed with caution as improper editing of this file can cause you game not to load properly or behave in unpredictable ways.

How to remove and disable the film grain effect in FEAR 2

You may already have noticed the film grain effect that is present at all times in FEAR 2 : Project Origin. There is no in game option to disable this effect. You can however download and use this mod to remove the film grain effect. Note: This hack sometimes disables full screen effects other than film grain. Using this on your first play through is not recommended.

UPDATE (11/2) How to remove black bars (vertical lines) on top and bottom of screen

You may seem black vertical lines on top and bottom of your screen if you play FEAR 2 : Project Origin at certain widescreen resolutions. As far as I know this issue only arises in some ATI graphics cards (EDIT: on some NVIDIA GPU as well) including multi GPU configurations. This occurs when you have forced anisotropic filtering through your display driver’s control panel. Set this to ‘application controlled’ (or whatever similar setting in your GPU control panel) and the problem should be solved.

Best video card drivers to use – NVIDIA GPUs

Finding the best video card driver for a game usually involves testing with various available beta and final driver versions. But in this case, NVIDIA video card users have a clear choice. NVIDIA have released ForceWare 182.05 Beta drivers which are the recommended version for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. These drivers supposedly give a 10% performance increase over current ForceWare 181.22 drivers (according to release notes). Additionally, ForceWare 182.05 installs the NVIDIA PhysX System Software 9.09.0203 – this will ensure you have the most stable & current PhysX engine for crash free Physics processing.

Best video card drivers to use – ATI GPUs

ATI on the other hand have not released any new driver updates targeted at F.E.A.R. 2 : Project Origin. The most recent ATI driver available as of this moment is Catalyst 9.1. Although I don’t think there are any FEAR 2 specific enhancements present in Catalyst 9.1, upgrading to this version is highly recommended if you are an ATI GPU owner.

Motherboard and sound card driver updates

Even though many people don’t care, it’s important to keep your motherboard and sound card drivers up to date for optimal game experience. NVIDIA ForceWare 182.05 Drivers with PhysX System Software 9.09.0203 – Direct Download

Earlier we reported how a Steam version of F.E.A.R. 2 : Project Origin leaked to BitTorrent sites before the game’s official release. Pirates who downloaded this release were unable to play it as the game was protected by a release date check as well as an encryption key in Valve’s Steam protection. However, a group of pirates from a Russian underground community have apparently found a way to get the leaked release working using a combination of hacked Steam tools and leaked Steam encryption keys.

UPDATE: F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin-DIE has been released (Read about it here). F.E.A.R.2.Project.Origin.CRACK.UNPACK has also been released. Some have reported that certain versions of FEAR 2 does not contain blood and gore. In case you cannot see blood or can’t blow up soldiers, try the fix mentioned in this article.  

The forum we are talking about is CS.RIN.RU a community that specializes in hacked Steam clients, non-Steam (cracked) game servers, standalone Steam games, emulators, patches, loaders, launchers, game updates, tutorials, etc. CS.RIN.RU’s F.E.A.R. 2 : Project Origin thread now explains in detail the method to get the leaked version up and running. Apparently it involves combining .NRG, .SIM & .SID files from the leaked P2P release (FEAR 2-Project Origin READNFO-TL) with tools such as REVOLUTION LOADER V2, SimPack and the latest Steam client. Pirates Crack F.E.A.R. 2 : Project Origin Steam Protection

Back in December 2008, we posted about BiTTurk, a Turkish tracker with lots of ripped Blu Ray movies (BRRip/BDRip). LeechTurk is another similar tracker from Turkey which has a high number of XViD encoded Blu Ray rips and HDRips. LeechTurk however is not a dedicated movie or TV tracker – it’s a general tracker which indexes torrents related to a number of other categories such as software and E-books as well. Although this is a Turkish tracker, lots of English releases including movies are available.

One of the reasons why LeechTurk has such a high number of BRRip/BDRip torrents is that it’s one of the affiliated sites of p2p group PRODJi (whose specialty is XViD encoded Blu-Ray movie rips). Releases by other similar groups such as LTRG, D-ZON3, SecretMyth, HiDt and DGiW can also be found on this tracker. As we said earlier LeechTurk is not all about movie rips – see categories section below to get a better idea of the content on this tracker. This site currently tracks around 1200 active torrents (as of 10/2/2009).

LeechTurk – Turkish Private Tracker With Blu-Ray Rips And Other Torrents

Adobe’s Portable Document Format (PDF) is one of the most widely used file formats nowadays. However, major operating systems such as Microsoft Windows or office automation suites such as Microsoft Office do not provide PDF creation support by default. There are a number of applications that facilitate PDF conversion but the software featured in this article is a little different. doPDF is a software that allows you to convert any printable document to PDF with a single click.

Unlike most converters, doPDF is not limited to a set of supported file types. It installs itself as an additional (virtual) printer. Whenever you want a web page or a document converted to PDF all you have to do is to print it using the doPDF printer. If the file is printable, it can be converted to PDF!

Also, it must be noted that doPDF does not change or remove your actual printer – you can always select it (or set it at a default) from the list of printers whenever you want to get a document printed. doPDF 6.2 – Convert web pages, MS-Office files or any other document to PDF format

Danishbits (DB), one the best private torrent trackers from Denmark, has just opened public signups. You need a Danish IP in order to access the signup page so only readers who are from Denmark will be able to register. Danishbits is a General/0Day tracker with English and Danish torrents – it’s a small private community and usually not that easy to get in.

News of the open signup was posted on the homepage about a week ago. According to that, main aim is to recruit more members in order to expand the community. DanishBits currently tracks over 4000 torrents of movies, music, TV Shows and other general content both English and Danish.

Despite various attempts by movie studios, it’s a well known fact that almost all popular movies leak on BitTorrent. BitTorrent sites to download Wrestling, MMA & Boxing torrents (Open signups)

When searching for new private torrent trackers to be posted in our private trackers section, I sometimes come across sites that use languages I’ve never even seen before. Polyglot 3000 is a handy program to have in such occasions – it’s a GUI based language detector utility for Windows. Just paste a phrase or a word from the unknown language into this program and it’ll tell you the name of language. This makes your search for specific translators or dictionaries far more easier.

 

Note that Google Translate also provides a similar service to this program (choose ‘Detect Language’ option from drop down menu). As opposed to Google Translate, Polyglot 3000 has a GUI, supports Unicode text and recognizes over 400 languages.

Polyglot 3000 – Detect language used in a web page or a text file

iTune.Ro is a new private torrent tracker specializing in English music. Although this tracker is only 10 days old, it’s already attracted a large number of users and seems to have become an overnight hit among BitTorrent fans. iTune is another private torrent tracker that uses the Gazelle codebase pioneered by What.cd. The site boasts a sleek interface, faster page navigation, improved search along with other benefits provided by the Gazelle script.

I first noticed iTune.Ro about a week ago – back then the site was a ghost town with not many torrents and users. The situation now is completely different. For the 10 or so days since launch, iTune has attracted over 1800 registered users. There are over 380 torrents in its index, nearly half of them added in the last 3 days - pretty impressive statistics for a start up specialized tracker. Majority of the torrents on iTune are English music albums (MP3 tracks - usually 192/320kbps CD rips). In addition to MP3 albums, I’ve seen an increasing number of FLAC (Lossless) music too being uploaded to iTune lately. Speaking of uploading, it’s worth mentioning that everyone is allowed to upload releases on this tracker (as long as they comply with rules)

iTune being a dedicated music tracker benefits greatly from the advanced features in Gazelle script. Tagging, artist search bar, torrent grouping, discography view, album art are just a few of such features.  In addition, a requests section is also present on iTune.

This tracker is currently open for signup and is likely to remain that way until the maximum user limit is reached.. iTune’s user limit was initially set to 1000. Due to high demand this was later raised to 1234 and now (08 February) to 2012. This means there are only around 200 more spots available if the currently user cap remains unchanged. Get in while you can – this tracker looks very promising.

Yahoo! sure are delivering quick updates to their IM client - build 9.0.0.2128 of Yahoo! Messenger got released about a day ago. This is the 4th minor Yahoo! Messenger update for the past 30 days. As you may already know, we provide you download link to the full offline installer instead of the web setup that is available in the official download page. Full setup file will be useful for if you have multiple computers, unstable internet connections or if you simply want to save the setup to hard disk for reuse.

Once again I wasn’t able to find a changelog for this build so I don’t know what bugfixes, security updates or enhancements are included in v9.0.0.2128. Anyway if you are a Yahoo! Yahoo! Messenger 9.0.0.2128 – Full standalone installer for offline installation

One of the most anticipated PC titles of 2009, F.E.A.R. 2 – Project Origin has leaked on a well known private torrent tracker as well as on several public BitTorrent trackers 3 days before the game’s official release date. If you are a pirate and thinking of downloading the leaked version, there is something you should know – it does not work, at least for now it doesn't. The release which is around 11.3GB in file size appears to be the Steam version of the game (Multilanguage including English and Russian).

UPDATE: Pirates Crack F.E.A.R. 2 : Project Origin Steam Protection

As you may already know, Steam games are protected by a release date check (among other things). Since F.E.A.R. 2 : Project Origin has not been officially released yet, release date check will fail and those who download this will be left with a non working 11GB archive. However, pirates have successfully managed to bypass steam protection on previous occasions using hacked or cracked steam clients, emulators, custom installers (such as the one Razor1911 created for Saint’s Row 2). Whoever uploaded leaked version to the aforementioned private tracker has stated the same in his uploader notes.

In the end, chances of a crack being released for F.E.A.R. 2 : Project Origin is quite high (which game doesn't get cracked these days?). However note that there is no crappy DRM such as SecruROM embedded in F.E.A.R. 2. So if you are thinking of pirating this game, ‘i hate DRM’ won’t be a good excuse in this case.

Steam version of F.E.A.R. 2 - Project Origin leaks on BitTorrent

After a flurry of specialized private tracker posts in the past few days, we bring you news about a General/0Day torrent site open for signup. OpenNetwork (aka oPn and Open Tracker) is a private BitTorrent tracker that tracks scene and p2p releases including Movies, TV Shows, Games, Appz, E-Books, Wallpapers, HD content, etc. This site’s roots lie in Romania but 90% of the downloadable content comprise of English releases.

OpenNetwork currently indexes and tracks an impressive number of 4000+ active torrents (around 1000 of these are XViD movies). Exact number of users on this tracker is unknown. Judging by the number of seeders on popular torrents (usually between 30-50), it seems to have a reasonable user base as well. Just like most 0Day trackers, OpenNetwork tracks all major scene and p2p releases. In addition, they have around 120 unique torrents including packs which are released with ‘oPn’ and ‘OpenNetwork’ labels. 

You may notice that some of the torrents on OpenNetwork contains the ‘ROSUB’ tag in their title. ROSUB tag means that particular release comes with Romanian subtitles. There is no need to worry if you are a non Romanian user - subtitles are not hardcoded into the video and can be removed (or replaced with a different language) in almost all cases. OpenNetwork has two main torrent browse sections; ‘Browse’ indexes all general torrents while ‘Adult’ indexes pron torrents. In addition, they have two more sections for Subtitles and DVD covers. These two sections unfortunately have very little content.

oPn periodically opens registrations but for the most part it’s an invite only tracker. At the time this post is being written, the site is open for signup.

List of private trackers for unofficial, trader friendly music and video releases (Lossless)

We usually hear about games being cracked or leaked before release date but this one really gave scene groups some trouble. Football Manager 2009 (aka FM09) which was initially released to the public on 14th November 2008, remained uncracked for almost three months. FM09’s ‘uncracked streak’ ended earlier today when veteran scene group RELOADED released a seemingly cracked version of Football Manager 2009 v9.2.0 - the most current version of the game available as of 6/2/2009.

The reason why it took long to crack FM09 may be due to the custom, uncommon protection embedded into the game. The game had to be activated online in order to play. There were several leaked builds, partially working cracks and workarounds created by p2p sources prior to RELOADED’s release (by groups FM09, KATOESJA, etc). Most of these were unreliable and as those who used cracked versions had trouble installing update patches (one of the drawbacks associated with PC game piracy). RELOADED’s release however includes a full DVD ISO image of the game, a key generator, a patch to update the game to 9.2.0 as well as instructions on how to activate the game offline. It seems RELOADED exploits the ‘activate by phone’ option in FM09.

Pirates finally crack Football Manager 2009 (Version 9.2.0)

If you are a reader of our PC Games section, it should be no secret to you that most PC Titles are cracked and leaked by groups from the warez scene such as RELOADED, HATRE, RAZOR1911, etc. ‘The Game Scene Charts’ is a monthly coded magazine (a small standalone program that integrates magazine content, background music and a user interface) which ranks groups in the gaming scene. This post features December 2008 issue of TGSC.

A typical TGSC issue comprises of the following articles:

• Editorial – Comments from the editors on this month’s issue
• Monthly Chart – Group statistics and rankings based on the number of PC Game ISO/DOX releases for that particular month (in this case December 2008)
• Monthly Overview – Editorial with news, updates and other information surrounding the PC game scene for that particular month
• Group of the month – A list of best ranked scene groups, sorted by month
• Group release stats – Comments about specific groups and their releases for a particular month
• Yearly stats – Group rankings and points earned for the current year
• Yearly overview – Comments by editors on how this months group performance has affected yearly performance
• Group of the year – A list of best ranked scene groups, sorted by year
• All time stats – All time group release statistics 
• All time overview – Comments on how this month’s performance has affected a group’s overall ranking

According to TGSC issue 28 (released on 27 January, 2009), the best ranked scene group for December 2008 is FASiSO. In addition, popular group RELOADED is still ranked first in all time group statistics with a whopping 1951 points. Note that these rankings are purely based on the number of releases by a group – type of DRM/protection cracked is not taken into account.

The Game Scene Charts : Issue 28 (December 2008) - Download

Here is something you don’t see everyday – RmvBusterS is open for signup. It’s a Polish private torrent tracker which has a lot of movies and TV Shows. Unlike most other trackers, RmvBusterS does not index XViD rips. Every single TV, movie and documentary torrent on this site is re-encoded in RMVB (RealMedia Variable Bitrate) format. There are both English and Polish releases available for download at RmvBusters.

RmvBusters currently tracks over 6000 active torrents and has a user base in excess of 6800 members. As mentioned earlier, every indexed torrent on this tracker points to a re encoded video. For example the TV release ‘Knight Rider Episode 14’ pre’d earlier yesterday by scene group LOL (350MB XViD), is already available on RmvBusters tracker in .rmvb format - Knight Rider (2008) [Eng] [S01E14] [HDTV-LOL] [x264-RmvBusterS] – Size - 162.9MB.

Note that there are both Polish and English languages releases available on this tracker. If you want to download English torrents, look for the [Eng] tag in torrent title. Site interface language is Polish but it shouldn't be hard to find your way around even if you don’t know this language.

I can’t remember the last time this tracker had open registrations. Anyway it’s open now and you no longer need to input a registration key/invite to get in. We don’t know for how long the open signup will continue so get in while you can.

RmvBusterS Torrent Tracker – Download Movies and TV Shows in .RMVB Format

Earlier we reported about the release of Burnout Paradise for the PC. Form what I experienced, Burnout Paradise was relatively free of crashes, bugs and glitches than most recent PC titles. However it seems that some users are still experiencing problems with the game. One of the most common issues seem to be the crashing at startup or hang at loading screen. If you encounter similar problems (or simply want to disable the intro movie) – try the NoIntro fix.

First of all I cannot guarantee that this fix will immediately solve all your Burnout Paradise startup problems – it’s worked for several people I know so think it’s worth a shot. Besides, everything this fix does can be undone - Just use the ‘Enable Intro’ and ‘Disable Intro’ buttons to toggle intro movie display. As usual, credit goes to original developer.

Skype 4.0 Final – Direct Download

We’ve posted about many private torrent trackers here on FILEnetworks Blog but this is the first post about a specialized comics torrent tracker. At a glance, Z-Cult FM may not look like a BitTorrent tracker at all. The site’s design implies it to be nothing more than a comics releases and reviews index. However only a few people know that Z-Cult FM indexes and tracks several thousand comic book torrents – a great resource for comic lovers indeed!

Z-Cult FM is quite a large community with over 84000 registered members (the number of active members may be lower). The exact number of torrents tracked by Z-Cult’s BitTorrent trackers is unknown. Most of the comic books that can be downloaded comprise of scanned .jpeg images packed into Comic Book Archive (.CBR, .CBZ, etc) file formats (how to open). Visual quality is usually excellent on these releases.

There was a time when DCP and Marvel comics were removed from this tracker due to legal threats. These releases can now be found on the site once again but they are no longer hosted nor tracked by Z-Cult. Instead, .torrent files for DCP/Marvel comics are stored and tracked by ComicPirates tracker (http://comicpirates.info). Z-Cult merely indexes these releases which are usually posted by the ‘Comic Pirates release bot’.

There are no torrents here so you can stop looking for torrent links beneath each comic book post. Several years ago, you needed to be an expert software cracker to defeat a commercial copy protection built into an application or a game. However with Crackulous around, any average Joe is now able to crack iPhone and iPod touch applications with a single click. Torrent Vault, Tv.Torrents.Ro and Midnight Torrents open for signup – February 04, 2009

We’ve posted about several business and money making related torrent sites including Salad.tl (Open), SeductionGR (Open/Application) and Biztorrents (Open). As you can see most of these sites have regular open signups. But if you tried to signup for TheVault.BZ (which is probably the best business related tracker on the planet), you’ll find that it’s closed to the public for the most part of year. What many people don’t know is that ‘The Vault’ has an application/IRC based invite system – users with a genuine interest on the tracker can easily get invited through this system.

What’s in ‘The Vault’?

TheVault.Bz has E-Books, videos, audio files, text documents and various other media associated with business related topics. This includes SEO, money making, sales/marketing, money management, economics, finance, customer service, copywriting, management, leadership, investing, trading, stocks, E-Commerce, real estate, recruitment/interviews, blogging, biographies and lots of other subjects similar to these. IMHO TheValut has some very rare content (over 10000 torrents) that is usually not found on any other tracker on the planet.

How to get invited to TheVault.bz

First of all don’t try to join TheVault just because you like to collect trackers - join it only if you have a genuine interest in any of the subjects mentioned above (or in some other business related subject).   

1. You need to get an IRC client installed. If you don’t already have one installed, we recommend you install mIRC. mIRC download links and a brief tutorial can be found here.
2. Once IRC client is set up, change you nickname to whatever nickname you want to have on TheVault tracker (in mIRC, nickname can be changed in Tools—>Options menu.
3. Join TheVault.BZ invites channel. This is located on IRC server irc.thevault.bz:6667 and the channel name is #thevault-invites. If you are using mIRC click on this direct link irc://irc.thevault.bz:6667/thevault-invites to visit the channel. 
4. Don’ PM anyone just yet. First read TheVault FAQ and Rules (you’ll need to read these in order to answer application questions).
5. Now visit http://www.thevault.bz/app.php. Read the background section carefully and answer the questions as instructed. Note that you need to answer each and every one of these.
6. Once done answering, head back to the IRC room and paste your answers along with the question number in the main channel (don’t PM). Wait for someone to respond – do not leave the channel till you have got confirmation on your new TheVault account.

TheVault business torrent tracker – How to get an invite

One of the drawbacks associated with pirated copies of PC games is the inability to play online. Even though game pirates manage to defeat the DRM protection in games and play the single player component without issues, a legitimate serial or CD-Key is almost always required to play online multiplayer. However this is not the case when it comes to recently released (and cracked) Burnout Paradise; You don’t need a CD-Key to play online!

So how can pirates play Burnout Paradise multiplayer? It seems to be very simple – you only need to have a free EA account. Even an EA account you created for previous betas or demo downloads should work. Note that you need to have Internet Explorer 7 in order to setup the multiplayer component online (this applies to both legitimate and pirated copies of the game). 

Let’s hope that this does not hurt the game’s sales because Burnout Paradise seem to be one of the best PC optimized game engines to be released in the past 6 months. I did not experience any framerate slowdowns, crashes or any other annoyances that I encountered with several recently released poor PC ports (Saint’s Row 2, GTA 4, etc) Props to developers on this one – buy it if you can!

By the way, here is a common problems that you may have to deal with when trying to set up Burnout Paradise multiplayer:

You get the error message “burnout server isn't available” when trying to create an EA account though the in game menu

If you have PeerGuardian installed, disable it for now. PG seems to be blocking EA server’s IP range. If this still does not solve the problem, try disabling your firewall/add burnout to exceptions and try.

Burnout Paradise online play works even on cracked copies

Scene group RELOADED are back with a bang. They’ve cracked the DRM protection in highly anticipated PC racing game Burnout Paradise. Burnout Paradise, like most major PC titles of 2008 and 2009, is protected by the SecuROM Digital Rights Management (DRM) system. This title however uses a less restrictive version of SecuROM which did not have the online activation component (SecuROM PA) embedded.

RELOADED’s release (mentioned on pre channels as Burnout.Paradise.The.Ultimate.Box-RELOADED) contains a full DVD ISO of the game, a cracked patch to update the game to version 1001, a key generator that generates valid serial keys for the game as well as a modified executable which seemingly has DRM protection (including the DVD check) removed. It is still not known whether all SecuROM triggers build into the game code have been removed.

Developer Description

Burnout Paradise (formerly known as Burnout 6) by Criterion Games is the seventh game in the Burnout video game series. It was released in January 2008 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It was also released on the PlayStation Store in September 2008 and will be available on Microsoft Windows from February 2009. It has an open world set in the fictional Paradise City, with no loading times and no traditional online lobbies or game menus. The song "Paradise City" by Guns N' Roses is the game's title music and also featured on the in-game soundtrack.

Possible solutions for problems you may encounter with Burnout Paradise (PC)

Can’t configure keys, change display settings and other options in game

The menu system of Burnout Paradise is a little odd – not the most user friendly interface if you ask me. Load the game and press esc key once you are in the game. Use function keys F1 and F2 to cycle through in game options menus. 

Performance issues, crashes to desktop (CTD) and other errors

I for one have not had any problems with this game during the 3-4 hours I played it so far. If you are experiencing issues, I suggest you download and install latest video card and audio drivers for your hardware. If you use an NVIDIA graphics card, Download and install ForceWare 181.22 from here. If you use an ATI graphics card, download and install ATI Catalyst 9.1 from here. If you don’t know what your video card is, use 3DP Chip to automatically search for and download latest audio and video drivers for your computer.

Pirates Crack Burnout Paradise (PC)

We’ve so far posted about several FTP sites for PC and Console games in our FTP Sites section. Here is another FTP server which contains a lot of classical and orchestral music. It has over 50GB of old music composed by well known composers such as Mozart and Beethoven. And by ‘old’ we do mean old; some of the music on this site date back to the early 1600s – should be of great value for classical music lovers.

FTP Server with classical and orchestral music – Direct downloads

About two weeks ago we posted about SceneRtorrents, a ratio free private torrent tracker. Today we bring you news of another similar torrent site; Dream Zonept. DreamZonept is a new general/0day tracker – it’s specialty is that there is no minimum upload:download ratio requirement unlike most other private BitTorrent communities. Both scene and non scene releases can be found on DreamZonept.

As we said above DreamZonept is a brand new tracker. As of 3/2/2009, it has a user base of 1200+ users and a torrents database with close to 1000 indexed torrents. Like most new private trackers, there is not much seeder activity on some torrents (usually 1-2 seeders) on DreamZone. Usually ratio free trackers require you to seed torrents for a minimum time period (i.e. 48 hours on GFT) but I could not find a similar rule on Dreamzonept.
