More good news for fans of HD content. It was only a day ago we talked about BD25, a Blu Ray torrent tracker that just opened up. Today’s post is again about another relatively new torrent site focusing on high definition video. Blu Bits is a private tracker that indexes movies, TV shows and documentaries including full, untouched Blu Ray uploads, Remux, BD25 encodes and other video with 1080p, 1080i and 720p quality. Just like most other private trackers of its genre, BB indexes a limited amount of FLAC lossless music in addition to video content. Indexed torrents include scene releases, P2P uploads as well as Blu Bits internal encodes. The site is not exactly brand new and has been online for a couple of months. It has had a decent start so far, both when it comes to recruiting users as well as building a content rich torrent index. If you are interested in joining this community, registrations are currently open.

Blu Bits

Some of you might be hearing about Blu Bits for the first time but judging by the site statistics, it appears to have received a fair bit of publicity so far. Currently there is a registered users bas of around 3500 members and 700+ active torrents can be found in the main index. True, these stats are easily dwarfed when compared with leading HD trackers such as HDbits.org or BIT-HDTV but for a site as young as Blu Bits, they are not bad at all.

As for the content indexed on Blu Bits, it’s all about HD. Movies, TV shows, documentaries and adult material in high definition video formats can be found here. Video formats include untouched Blu Ray encodes, 3D Blu Ray releases (3DBD), BD25 encodes and 1080p, 1080i and 720p video encodes in x264 container. The site tracks both scene and P2P releases as well as some internal encodes exclusive to Blu Bits. Nowadays internal releases have become a unit of measuring value of a HD tracker so it’s good to see BB trying to build this section right from the start.

Blu Bits Index

Blu Bits is built on the xbtit tracker script – the site has all standard features of a private tracker, supports multiple languages and allows skin choosing. However, pages appear to be optimized for a higher resolution so you might have to use the horizontal scroll bars in browser if your display resolution is something less than 1152x864 (non widescreen).

Registrations for Blu Bits are currently open. It’s not known if they would close anytime soon but as of right now, this is a pretty easy tracker to get into.

The influx of new private trackers in 2011 continues – today’s post is about BD25, a new torrent site that just started its operations. BD25 is a private tracker that specializes in Blu Ray releases. The site aims to index a lot of untouched or re-encoded BD25, BD9 and BD5 torrents, focusing on quality over quantity. This is obviously a tracker specializing in movies and it’s currently unknown if it will cater to TV series releases as well. Either way, BD25 is backed by none other than the founder/encoder of EuReKa, a P2P group that released high quality encodes on HD trackers such as Awesome-HD and HD-Torrents. EuReKa is well respected in the BitTorrent scene and needless to say their reputation will help a lot when it comes to recruiting members for this new project. Speaking of recruiting, registrations are currently open and doors will remain open till the 1st of February. Everyone who signs up during this period will receive a whopping 24GB free upload credit :)

BD25 Logo

Officially launched to the public on 24th January, BD25 joins the ranks of other full Blu Ray trackers such as Blu Torrents and 3DBluRayISO. Quoted below is part of an E-mail we received from BD25 staff – this pretty much explains everything about this new site, including the sort of content it tracks, the reasons for starting it and even some technical details about the source base:

Yesterday we started a brand new HD-tracker that's specialized in BD25. The reason for starting a specialized BD25 tracker, is that on general trackers BD25 torrents get overwhelmed by mainly x264 encodes in a Matroska container. By no means this tracker aims to become very big. Our aim is to make this tracker one with only high quality releases and a close-knit community.

The following uploads are allowed:

  • Untouched or re-encoded BD25 disks, with or without menu.
  • Re-encoded BD9 disks, with or without menu.
  • Re-encoded BD5 disks, with or without menu.
  • Audiostreams

BD25.org runs on xbtitFM with a xbtt backend. We are also using the xbtit hosting facilities. xbtitFM is the best and easiest way to setup a complete bittorrent tracker system.
If you're interested in BD25, join us now. Free registration until 1 February 2011 (24 GB signup bonus). After that period you need an invite to join (12 GB signup bonus).

As of right now, there is nothing much to say about the size of BD25’s torrent index. The site has just started and there are only around 10 indexed torrents on tracker – all are BD25 EuReKa encodes, with each weighing over 20GB in file size. This number would surely grow in the coming days as the site gets older. Speaking of the user base, there are already 750+ members registered and more are joining in as the news of launch spreads around the BT community.

Registrations for BD25 are currently open. Signups will remain to be open until 1st of February 2011. And don’t forget that everyone who registers during this period gets 24GB free upload credit. All in all, If you are looking to download a lot of full Blu Ray releases this would definitely be a good tracker to have.

The long drought that plagued our PC games troubleshooting section ends as Dead Space 2 hits the market. Dead Space 2 is a widely anticipated survival horror third person shooter and is the sequel to 2008’s Dead Space 1. I’ve had the opportunity to play the game for a couple of hours and from what I’ve seen so far, this new title seems to do the series justice – it looked great, appeared to run smoothly even on mid range hardware and most importantly I didn’t run into any showstopper bugs. Speaking of bugs, this article aims to provide troubleshooting tips, tweaks and fixes for commonly reported issues with Dead Space 2. Keep in mind that this is a work in progress – we will be updating this post as we receive tip offs about new bugs, glitches, workarounds and solutions.

Slow performance, freezing and stuttering on ATI video cards

If you are playing Dead Space 2 on an ATI video card, you might experience performance issues. From what I have seen, this game clearly has issues with ATI GPUs. It’s not known if a future driver release or a developer patch would sort these out but here’s a temporary solution which you can try – run the game in Windowed mode instead of fullscreen. To do this, go to Visual Options menu in game and turn off the ‘Full Screen’ option.

How to manually edit Dead Space 2 configuration file

If you want to play with advanced settings and tweak the game  further by adjusting options that are normally inaccessible from the in game menu, you can do so by editing the game confi file manually.

  1. Set your computer to show all files, including hidden files.
  2. Navigate to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\EAGames\Dead Space 2 folder (Windows 7/Vista)
    OR
    C:/Documents and Settings/USERNAME/Local Settings/Application Data/EAGames/Dead Space 2/ (Windows XP)
  3. Open the file settings.exe with a text editor.

Note: Always make a backup of the original settings.txt file before you make any changes. Invalid settings could cause the game not run/malfunction and if this happens, you can restore the original to undo the damage.

How to change Dead Space 2 language

For the language change to work properly, you should own a Multilanguage copy of Dead Space 2.

  1. Open the settings.txt configuration file by following steps mentioned in the previous section.
  2. Find the ‘Locale’ string. Modify the value to set desired language. Example values are
    ENG – English
    DE – German
  3. Save and close the file. Restart the game.

How to fix black screen at startup

There are many reasons which could cause a black screen at start but here is a quick solution you can try:

  1. Open the settings.txt file as stated in a previous section (above)
  2. Find the string values Window.Top and Window.Left
  3. Modify the values so that they read :
    Window.Top = 0
    Window.Left = 0
  4. Save and close the file.

Also, try disabling your Antivirus/Firewall and running the game.

Fix Dead Space 2 Spinning camera issue

The quickest fix for this bug (which was present in Dead Space 1 as well) is to unplug any game controllers plugged into your system and restarting the game. But if you do want to play with your existing controller, try the steps below:

  1. Navigate to Dead Space 2 save directory which is Documents\EAGames\Dead Space 2
  2. Rename the file joypad_example.txt to joypad.txt
  3. Open joypad.txt with a text editor.
  4. Change the values of the following strings so that they read:
    Pad.RightDPad.Left =
    Pad.RightDPad.Down =
    Pad.RightDPad.Right =
  5. Save and close the file.

Note: This fix was based on the  solution posted by TongueDar on this EA forum thread for Dead Space 1.

Crashes at certain chapters in DS2

Many people seem to be experiencing crashes to desktop (CTD) at some points in the game. One of the most commonly reported crashes appears to materialize in Solar Array in Chapter 7. This issue seems to be occurring mostly with pirated copies of the game. We don’t have a solution for this right now and it’s unlikely a developer patch would solve the issue if it really has to do something with code modifications done by the pirating group.

Run Dead Space 2 crash free - update your graphics drivers and DirectX

Again, this is pretty basic stuff buy many people seem to ignore this – always update your video card drivers to the latest build before running the game. Update your video card’s drivers – if latest drivers do not work, try downloading and installing latest beta drivers (do this at your own risk).

As for DirectX, you may download the latest monthly runtime from this location.

This article is a work in progress – it will be updated as more solutions are found.

Ever heard about GFXnews or TemplateP2P? BtTrove (BTT) is a forum based private torrent tracker which tracks content similar to both aforementioned torrent sites/DDL forums. The site indexes tutorials, software and premium resources related to web development, web design, graphics design, 2D/3D digital imaging, 3D animation, stock photography, music authoring, programming, networking and more. Needless to say, it’s a great tracker to have if you are a student, a professional or a mere enthusiast in any of these fields. Some of you may not have heard of this site but BTT has been around for a couple of years – it’s mostly been a closed, invite only community which might explain its lack of popularity in BitTorrent forums and news blogs. Either way, this site has opened public registrations for the first time in many years so in case you wanted to join, there would probably no better time to do so than now.

BTTrove

First of all, BtTrove is not just a private tracker – it does have a DDL section where you can find direct download links to files hosted on one click hosting services. However, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that most of the content indexed on site are shared as torrents, using its own private tracker. Torrents are pretty well seeded and usually have decent download speeds. At time of this posting, BTT had 4000+ registered members and tracked 1500+ active torrents with a couple hundred more links in its DDL section.

What sets BtTrove apart from other torrent sites is the type of content it tracks – files tracked by BTT’s tracker are not usually found elsewhere. You can find lots of tutorials related to technology fields such as web development, programming, networking, digital photography, painting, etc as well as lots of other premium resources including 2D/3D models, stock photography, templates, sound effects and more. In addition, BTT tracks a number of different software for music authoring, graphics design, 3D animation, digital imaging, programming, etc. The screenshot below captures part of torrent and DDL download sections on BTT:

BTTrove Index

As said earlier in this article, BTT is currently open for registration. Note that this is a site that has been invite only for more than two years straight. It might not appeal to everyone but if you are into programming, web development, graphics design, music authoring or 3D animation, this should be a great site and a community to be a part of.

When the popular movie torrent tracker CN shut down its operations back in last December, everybody thought it was gone for good. But we’ve all been proven wrong – CN has returned, this time under a different identity; The Black Hand (TBH) . TBH retains all major qualities of CN along with its mafia themed look and feel, advanced community features, organizational features and of course, it continues to be a dedicated movie torrent tracker. While the return will no doubt be welcomed by loyal members of CN, there’s some bad news involved as well. The site is restored using a backup that’s a year old – some user accounts, statistics and most of the torrents have been lost. Long time CN members are able to recover their old accounts while others may have to re-apply for an invite. THB invite applications are currently online and everyone including new readers are free to apply.

CN Logo

Back when it went down, CN tracked around 12500 movie torrents of all qualities and sizes. TBH however now has to rebuild the torrent index from scratch. While this would surely take some time, the site appears to be headed towards a speedy recovery - around 1000 movies are already uploaded and a couple hundred new torrents seem to get added every day. To further spice things up, there’s even an upload contest currently ongoing.

Despite being known as a destination for movie torrent downloads, ex-members would know that CN is not all about content. The site had a wide focus on community and featured lots of activities, points systems and bonuses that promoted member activity beyond just downloading movies. TBH retains almost all of these popular additions and we strongly recommend you go through the FAQ (/faq.php) once you join the site – a good summary of site features and how everything works is described in detail there.

Speaking of getting into TBH, you can easily recover your account if you were one of the older members of CN. Keep in mind that the restored backup is over a year old – if your CN account wasn’t older than a year, chances are that it got lost during the transition. In this case, your only choice would be to re-apply for a TBH invite through the online invite applications. Note that invite apps are open to completely new readers as well.

In a world full of General/0Day torrent trackers, the BitTorrent community usually welcomes a specialty tracker with more enthusiasm. TheTorrents (THT) is one such private tracker that focuses on a specific niche – oldies. By oldies we mean old movies, retro TV shows, classic literature, etc. It’s a brand new site and not many torrenters even know of its existence yet. However, THT does index some pretty rare content and some of you might even consider it a hidden gem. Before we forget to mention, this is a ratioless tracker – there are no global upload : download ratio requirements and every activity on site including user promotions are based on total traffic. In case you are interested in signing up, registrations are currently open.

TheTorrents THT Logo

As we said earlier, THT is a very young tracker. It’s only been up for a week and hasn’t had a lot of public exposure yet. However, the site has so far managed to recruit over 1500 members and its torrent index has already surpassed the 500 mark. It’s not a revolution but a very healthy start nevertheless.

What sets THT apart from the thousands of BitTorrent sites out there is its content. True, this is not the first tracker to specialize in oldies but at least it’s not another General/0Day torrent tracker. Anyway note that THT has Romanian origins (.RO is banned from several popular private trackers but they sure do have a lot of torrent sites of their own). Naturally, it indexes a mix of both Romanian and English content. If you are looking to download English releases only, make sure to deselect the ‘Romanesti’ category during a search. Screenshot below shows part of the torrent index – this might give you a better idea on what sort of content you can fund on THT:

THT Index

As for the site interface, it’s by default in Romanian language. You can switch the language to English through the profile page (Go to ‘Profil’ from top bar and set value to English from the drop down menu next to text ‘Limba’).

Registrations for THT are currently open. According to site staff, open signups would continue until the site reaches the user limit of 10000 members. There is plenty of room for everyone so if you are interested, feel free to check this tracker out.

FlacShare is currently down and now there is a void in the DDL space for a new specialized FLAC music forum. What The Flac (WTF :p ) is here to fill the gap. It’s a brand new Direct Download Link (DDL) forum which focuses mainly on lossless music encoded using the FLAC codec – you can find and download discographies, full albums, official soundtrack (OST) and more here. Started by an encoder of HD-UNiT3D forum, WTF aims to become a well known destination on the internet for lossless music downloads. The site is currently open for registration and is accepting new members – however, doors won’t remain open for long since they are planning to go invite only at the start of next month.

What The Flac Logo

What The Flac is by all means a new site. It’s barely two weeks old and is just starting up. Currently there are around 200 uploads indexed but this number is expected to grow in the coming days. WTF has a mix of scene and non scene content but non scene uploads make up for the majority of the DDL links present on site.

Speaking of DDL links, WTF does not host any of files on its own servers. Files are uploaded to services such as Hotfile and only the verified download link is posted in forum threads. Most of the files are password protected and usually the required password can also be found in the same forum thread.

As its name suggests, WTF is primarily a FLAC music DDL forum. However, there are plans to enrich the collection with some MP3 albums as well. A screenshot of the downloads section on WTF forums should give you a better idea on the sort of content you can find here:

What The Flac Index

As of right now, WTF is an open registration DDL forum (all accounts need to be manually activated by the administrator – you will not be able to see the downloads section until this is done). They will become invite only from the 1st of February onwards. Anyways if you seek to download lossless music off the internet, this site might be worth checking out.

File sharing is not always about BitTorrent trackers and Direct Download Link forums. This popular phenomenon has given birth to a number of other innovative services that further simplify how large data is shared online. Today’s post is about one such service, FlashSeed. FlashSeed is essentially a mash up between BitTorrent and DDL. The service makes creating a torrent of a regular file and uploading it to a BitTorrent tracker basically a one click process. Furthermore, the service will act as a seeder and continue to seed the torrent for a period of 5 days. But that’s not all, FlashSeed can play the role of a one click hosting service and will even allow downloading uploaded torrents over direct download links. This is currently in beta but is open to all.

FlashSeed Logo

The main goal of FlashSeed is to make torrent uploads as simple as possible. We know, this is a way more simplified task than it used to be with most modern BT clients but this service makes it even more simpler. With FS, all you have to do is to hit the upload button and point to the file you need tracked as a torrent. There are no extra steps involved and a torrent download link (which you can share with others) will be generated once file uploading is complete. This is of course not without limitations. File storage is currently limited to 1GB and FlashSeed will only seed an uploaded file for 5 days (other peers will be able to seed/leech the file for as long as they like since the torrent will not be deleted from tracker – only the web seed will be removed after 5 days) .

FlashSeed Screenshot

Files uploaded as torrents can be directly downloaded from FS’s servers without the need for a BitTorrent client. You will however need FlashSeed points to do this. How the points system works is outlined below:

FlashSeed Points is a reward-based system to encourage seeding. Points may be used to download a file directly from our servers rather than through BitTorrent (useful for torrent-restricted environments, video streaming). 1 Point = 1 MB download credit. You will receive 1 point when:

  • you upload 3 MB through our tracker
  • someone completes a file that you uploaded

Currently the service is in beta but is open to everyone. According to developers, the FlashSeed will continue to be free of charge but will be ad supported after public launch. It’s an interesting service nevertheless. Check it out.

Two new issues of your favorite pirate magazine are here. These were released a couple of weeks ago so this may not be hot news for some of you. However, The Game Scene Charts (TGSC) Issues 48 and 49 are out there and can now be freely downloaded. For those who are heaving about this mag for the first time, TGSC is an electronic publication that rates and ranks PC game release groups in the warez scene. These self contained coded magazines come complete with interactive menus, background music and even have old school scene intros. Coming back to the TGSC issues #48 and #49, these cover scene released PC games during the months of November 2010 and December 2010. Summary of group rankings and download links after the jump.

TGSC 2010 49
Image: TGSC screenshot from issue #49

As usual, group SKIDROW have once again dominated the rankings. This is despite severe criticism coming from within the scene regarding their cracking methods and even accusations of code stealing. Either way, summary of group rankings can be found below:

November 2010

  1. SKIDROW
  2. RELOADED
  3. Bamboocha

October 2010

  1. SKIDROW
  2. RELOADED
  3. FASiSO

Download

You do not need special software to open these magazines as everything is self contained. However, note that your screen may flash and flickering text will appear during the magazine’s intro screens. This is intentional since it’s modeled after old school scene cracktros.

You can download TGSC issues from Defacto, a scene resources site we featured in a previous article.

It’s just been two weeks into 2011 and we have already seen the birth of several notable new private torrent trackers this year. The list just continues to grow as XvidMe enters the BT scene – it’s the newest niche tracker on the block and as the name suggests, specializes in movie releases encoded using the popular Xvid codec. Site is just starting up but its aim is to become *the* place on the internet to find and download 700MB/1.4GB movie releases. XvidMe is not the first private tracker to try the Xvid-only formula – several similar sites have existed before, such as the likes of 700m.Bz and SceneXvid. None of these trackers are around today so that makes XvidMe the only specialized Xvid tracker currently online. With Xvid codec still popular and widely in use, XvM has a good potential to succeed if they play their cards right.

XvidMe Logo

Needless to say XvidMe is a very young torrent tracker. It’s just been online for four days and hasn’t had any exposure to the public yet. There are currently around ~150 Xvid movies uploaded to the tracker (statistics as of 1/19/2011 – these are bound to increase as the site gains more popularity). It runs on a customized version of TBDEV codebase and has all standard features of a private tracker including forums, a requests section, category based search, a ratio system, etc.

As for the content on XvM, it’s pretty much self explanatory. Currently the site is a movies only tracker, with all uploads encoded in Xvid format. Releases are categorized into various movie genres such as Action, Adventure, Comedy, War, etc and are searchable from the main index. A screenshot of part of the torrent index can be seen below:

XvidMe Index

Signups for XvM are currently open. Currently there are only around 125 registered members but this will soon go up as the tracker gains more publicity via blogs like this and via BitTorrent news forums. If you are interested, check it out.

Great news if you were looking forward to get into FunFile, a long standing general/0day torrent tracker with lots of members and torrents. After being closed for more than a year, FF has finally opened public registrations to allow some new blood in. Although there is no official word from the site about open signups, it appears that there is room for another ~2500 new users. As you may have already guessed, FunFile tracks everything from 0Day scene release packs to movies, music, games, television shows, e-books, software, portable applications and more. It has a unique layout, a bonus system based on credits, secure HTTPS connectivity, advanced search features and a large torrent index with nearly 20000 active torrents.

FunFile Logo

Although it’s been online for several years, this tracker has had its share of conflicts, controversies and internal disputes. Actually, it was one of these disputes that caused a breakaway faction of staff to start PreToMe (PTM) tracker. However, most of the issues occurred under a different ownership and right now, FF is a far more stable private tracker. The site is looking pretty good in terms of statistics with around 15000 registered users and around 19000 active torrents (29000 total).

As for the content, you can find pretty much everything you’d look for in a General/0day tracker on FunFile. It has some massive packs, it has 0day releases and it tracks both scene and P2P uploads. The newest change regarding packs was announced a couple of days ago:

Effective immediately, we have a new 0day category for uploads. This will house all the scene-released apps including PC, Linux, Mac, iPhone, iPad and more in daily uploaded packs. These packs will be accessible to Power Users and above and will be freeleech indefinitely. This allows you to grab whichever apps you wish from the daily pack while boosting ratio, but do ensure to seed back the required 72 hours and/or a 1:1 ratio.

Some of the torrent packs you can find on FunFile can be seen in the screenshot below:

FunFile Index

As said earlier, signups for FF are currently open and you no longer need an invite key or a registration code to create an account. Although there is no official word from the site about open signups, this was hinted in a previous news post:

In an effort to increase our site members, we will have open registration soon so feel free to introduce your friends and family & show them the ropes. However, please note, duplicate accounts on the same connection are NOT permitted. Period.

Assuming the sites would remain open until the maximum user limit is reached, there is still room around around 2500 new members. If you are interested, feel free to check it out.

Unlike in the past, Ratioless private torrent trackers are nothing revolutionary these days. However, launch of a new site of this genre always seem to spark the interest of our readers. SceneLinks (SCL) is one of the latest no ratio private torrent communities to hit the BitTorrent scene. It’s not a niche tracker but a General/0Day tracker which tracks content ranging from movies, games to exclusive encodes and torrent packs. The site features an eye catching user interface, claims to have scene access, has a bonus system based on ‘Promicin Shot’ points and is home to an internal movie encoder group of its own named SLiNKS. Staff have expressed no desire to make this one of those super secret, l33t sites and SceneLinks has started off humbly with registrations open to all.

SceneLinks

According to site staff, work on SceneLinks began several months ago. Although they are going public in mid January 2011, the site has been online since November 2010. To quote the words of one staff member:

The staff wanted to make a GOOD torrent tracker, before spreading the word, and so now you have a beautiful looking site ( my favorite stylesheet being Simple 2 ), with extremely fast scene axx pretimes, and ratioless. The site doesn't aim to become l33t or stuff like that.

They do claim to have scene access but there is no way for us to independently verify this claim. Either way, around 1500 torrents have been uploaded during the past one and a half months which is not a bad statistic at all. The style sheet, category icons and the overall visual interface of the site is indeed eye catching. Torrent index looks very organized with nuked releases, requests and free leech torrents easily distinguishable from one another. However, keep in mind that SCL still is a brand new tracker – there aren’t a lot of members or snatches so don’t expect the same amount of activity as on TorrentLeech around here.

SceneLinks index

Just like most other ratioless trackers, a bonus system replaces global ratio on SceneLinks. Bonus points are called ‘Promicin Shots’. For every hour that you seed a torrent, you are awarded with 1 Promicin Shot. Of course, there are ways to earn points other than seeding:

  • uploading a new torrent = 10 shots
  • comment on torrent = 1 shot
  • saying thanks = 0.5 shots
  • making a post = 1 shot
  • starting a topic = 3 shots
  • seeding a torrent uploaded 1 week ago or bigger than 4Gb longer than 1 day will get you more Shots

Your SceneLinks account will gain certain abilities as you gather more Promicin Shots. A list of such abilities is quoted below:

  • ability to cast invites
  • ability to get upload credit
  • shadow ability aka custom title
  • heal/help ability aka give promicin gift

SCL administration have stated that they have no plans to make this a l33t tracker. Making a wise move, they have decided to open registrations for all during the start up period. If you are looking to be part of a new ratio free tracker, check this site out.

At last check, AL had 20000+ registered members and tracked 12000+ active torrents which are quite decent statistics for a General/0Day site.

Coming back to the sign up party, we’ve been sent a special invite key by AL staff to give away to our readers – this key will support up to 2000 new registrations so there should be plenty of room for everyone.

After having used almost every Microsoft Operating System since MS-DOS, I’ve to say that Windows 7 is the best Microsoft OS to be released since Windows 98 Second Edition. W7 addressed many flaws that were present in its predecessor Windows Vista and according to Microsoft it was a phenomenal success in terms of sales as well. Anyways here’s some news that might interest you if you are one of the millions running Windows 7 on your PC or Laptop - A Release To Manufacturing (RTM) build of the first Service Pack (SP1) for Windows 7 has reportedly been leaked online. The files, which were initially posted by Russian release site WZOR, are now out in the wild and readily available on various file sharing networks including public BitTorrent sites and private torrent trackers.

Quoted below is the NFO file from one such torrent (this appeared to be a repacked version of files originally posted on WZOR):

Note: This is not a full install, this is just an upgrade only. It contains x86 / x64 . This Service Pack can be applied to any version of Windows 7. All you need is to run the update kit. Please uninstall all the previous versions before installing this!

Thanks goes to: Misaki for providing the SP1 files, to Zukona for making this leak possible, and to OVH for helping with the upload!

Microsoft it yet to confirm that the leaked build is indeed RTM. However, WZOR, the Russian site from which the leak originated from, has been around for many years and it’s got a reputation for posting reliable information about leaked MS software in the past.

Now, we wouldn’t post a direct download link to this RTM since we’re not sure if that would be illegal or not (after all, this is still unreleased software). However, anyone wanting to download this release on a file sharing network should have enough information to do so in the above NFO itself :) If you are feeling adventurous, go ahead and check it out. If you want to download Service Pack 1 through official channels, it should hit the Microsoft Download Center in the coming weeks (or months, I’m not sure about the exact release date yet).

Looking to be a part of a great General/0Day tracker? You timing could not have been better. TorrentVault (TV), a Gazelle based private torrent tracker with tons of torrents and awesome pre times, has just re-opened its invites IRC channel after being closed for months. During the last couple of months, TV has grown from a lesser known private tracker into a well respected torrent site - it now features a torrent index with 40k+ torrents, great pre times, a unique bonus points system and the newly introduced TorrentVault Marketplace. In case you couldn’t get into this site through our special signup URL (which was posted a while back), you can now apply for an invite since the invites channel is open once again. Entry requirements for invites that are being handed out on IRC are not tough – even beginners to the BitTorrent scene stand a chance to gain entry into this tracker.

TorrentVault

TorrentVault is by no means a young BitTorrent tracker. The site, which started out on TBDEV source several years ago, is one of the veterans in the BT scene. Things have certainly taken an upward turn for TV since their migration to Gazelle codebase back in November 2009. Pre times and the number of daily torrents added to the site improved drastically – good news is that TV has managed to keep the momentum going even after a full year since the switch. As of today, there are over 43000 active torrents on this tracker – roughly 150-200 new torrents get uploaded every day.

TorrentVault is a General/0Day torrent tracker and majority of the indexed files are scene releases. Both non spam and spam releases including foreign + English content get uploaded here. All sorts of content ranging from music, magazines to movies is indexed – there is a particularly high number of TV episodes available as well. Some of the torrent categories and several zero day packs are visible in the screenshot below:

TorrentVault Index

TV has a unique bonus system based on ‘Gold’. Gold is awarded for seeding completed torrents. Every hour you are awarded a specific amount gold for each completed torrent you're seeding. The amount of gold you receive depends on the size of the torrent seeding. Additionally, you earn 2 gold for every forum post you make and 1 gold for every torrent you thank.Points earned in this manner can be exchanged for upload credit and other goodies in the TorrentVault Marketplace.

How to get invited to TorrentVault

As mentioned in the title of this post, TV has re-opened their IRC invites channel. According to site staff, around 2500-3000 invites will be given out in the first round. Entry requirements are not tough but everyone who is invited will be monitored for rule violations. Follow the step by step guide below to log into the TV invites channel. We recommend you use the mIRC client for this operation.

  1. Close your web browser. Install mIRC. mIRC can be downloaded free of charge from this location. Do not run it yet.
  2. TV IRC requires SSL connectivity so you’ll need to install SSL support for mIRC first. This is a one click process – simply download OpenSSL Setup from here and install it.
  3. Open your web browser, paste the following link in address bar and press enter irc://irc.torrentvault.org:+9022.
  4. This should open mIRC and log you into TorrentVault IRC server.
  5. Once logged in, type /ns REGISTER username email in the mIRC console to register your nickname on this server.
Example (assuming your username is filenet and password is mypassword)-
    /ns REGISTER filenet mypassword
  6. Type /join #tv-invites to join the invites channel. Follow instructions on channel topic and request your invite. Good Luck!

If you encounter any issues with above instructions, feel free to post them in comments section.

Special thanks to Ze0de (TV SysOp) and Chronic Tron for the heads up.

By now, probably all of you have heard the news about imminent shutdown of ShareTheRemote, a gazelle based specialized TV torrent tracker. STR which launched to the public sometime around November 2009 will soon be closing down its operations permanently. Main reasons for the closure appears to be lack of funding, stagnating torrent uploads and member activity. While all loyal STR members will be saddened by this news, there is a silver lining in the dark cloud in the form of BTN. BTN, ones of the most successful TV trackers to hit the BitTorrent scene in recent months, is offering STR refuges a new home. An online form has now been made available through which ShareTheRemote members cam request for a free BTN invite. With BTN now being one of the best places on the internet to find and download TV shows, this is an excellent opportunity for STR members to make it their new home.

BTN STR

First, the reasons for STRS’s shutdown; following announcement is quoted from their homepage:

it's with great sadness that I write this post, however it's time to officially announce what many have been speculating about for quite some time: SharetheRemote has run its course and will be shutting down around the 16th of January.
While the immediate reason for this shutdown is a lack of funds (Note: Any donations made at this point will not be received until the 15th of February and will not help cover January's server bill), the prevailing reason is the stagnation that the site has faced. Both the torrent and user counts have floated around their current values and new features have came to a grinding halt ever since RC2 was prematurely released. The blame for this goes exclusively to the higher echelons of staff (developers+) - While the talent was certainly there, the activity simply was not. While it's a shame to see a site die due to a lack of organization, it's a harsh reality that we must face.
So what's to become of the torrents, users, and code? That's up to you guys. We currently aren't ruling out the idea of a merger, takeover by a new administration, or user relocation offer. For now, the site will be set to global freeleech until it goes down. Grab as much content as possible and make sure to share it with the world!

At last check (on 6/1/2010), STR tracked 5000 torrents and had an active user base of 7200+ members. You can find more information and screenshots of STR in our recent article located here.

A news item has also been posted on BTN homepage, announcing the partnership with STR:

As many of you know, SharetheRemote (StR) has recently announced it will be closing, leaving many of its members without a home
After long discussions, BTN has decided to accept Refugees from StR, and a system has been put in-place to securely validate these members prior to inviting them to BTN.
On behalf of BTN, I'd like to officially welcome our newest members from StR, and I hope you will all become part of our great community and  as we do
//BTN Staff

BTN is a hugely successful ratio free TV tracker with 18000+ members and 22000+ active torrents. The site is known for it’s many advanced features, seedbox hosted torrents, autouploader bots and fast pre times. You can read a full overview of BTN in our recent article located here.

How to apply for a BTN invite

First and foremost, this offer is only valid for Ex-STR members. You can apply for a BTN invite through the electronic form made available in following location:

Invite Application URL: https://broadcasthe.net/str_refuge.php

Provided that you were a good member on STR, you will receive a BTN invite to the E-mail you specify in the form. Good Luck!

Special thanks to AzzA for the heads up.

When it comes to scene music torrent trackers, SoftMP3 was nothing short of a legend. Back in its day, the site was hugely popular in the BitTorrent community and had pretty high demand from music fans across the world. However, SoftMP3 voluntarily shut down citing safety reasons after the Pirate bay court verdict back in 2009. Source code of the site was released to the public and naturally, a flurry of replacements and clones followed the demise of this once great tracker. Unfortunately none of the new alternatives were as successful as SoftMP3 and most had shut down for good by 2011. Today’s article is about MP3Scene – the newest MP3 music torrent tracker to be running on SoftMP3 source. Despite the bad luck surrounding torrent sites based on this script, MP3Scene is off to a fine start and is adding new torrents at a rapid pace.

MP3Scene

Within just a week into its public launch, MP3Scene’s statistics are looking pretty good. The site has so far managed to recruit over 1600 members through open registrations and this number is expected to increase as this tracker gains more exposure. Number of active torrents which was just around 100 a couple of days ago has increased rapidly to 2000, with over 1000 torrents being added in the last two days alone – if MP3Scene uploaders can keep this pace up in the long run, this tracker is definitely going to be a win. With the planned launch of autouploader bot (which according to the SysOP should arrive sometime this weekend), frequency and speed at which new torrents are added might even see further improvements. While the start has definitely been good for MP3Scene, let’s hope this tracker won’t suffer the same fate as previous SoftMP3 source based sites such as SceneSound or CareStreet.

As its name suggests, MP3Scene is a music torrent tracker specializing in scene released MP3 music albums. Indexed music is organized into 40+ different genres including Rock, Pop, Indie, Punk, Jazz and more. In addition to MP3 files which form the majority of  torrent index, this site tracks some MDVDR and Lossless music files as well. Just like SoftMP3, MP3Scene uses multiple torrent index pages as opposed to a single main index found on most other torrent sites. There are separate browse pages each for new releases, archived releases, requests and lossless music.

MP3Scene Index

Being built on the same source base, ex members of SoftMP3, SceneSound or CareStreet trackers should feel right at home here. While there are minor changes made to the layout, favorite SoftMP3 features such as the archive section, lossless music section, customizable start page, easy to read FAQ and rules presentation, toplists and requests have all been retained.

Registrations for MP3Scene are currently open. It’s not known whether open signups would be closed anytime soon. Either way this looks like a promising new entrant to the MP3 trackers scene so go ahead and check it out.

Here we go – our first R5 DVD release dates update for the year 2011. As most of you would already know, knowing the DVD release date of a movie in advance is useful if you are planning to actually buy the DVD off the shelves. But it comes in handy even if you are a pirate too. Although movies don’t have an official ‘leak online date’ set by publishers, you can pretty much guess when some movies will appear on file sharing networks if you know their DVD Region 5 (R5) release date. The R5 format was first introduced to minimize DVD movie piracy in areas such as Russia, Indian subcontinent and Africa. These DVDs are usually released ahead of other regions and are cheaper than their R1/R2 counterparts (in an attempt to convert would-be pirates). However, scene/P2P groups too use this to their advantage by making releases combining video ripped from R5 DVDs (which have near DVDRip quality) and English audio from CAM/TS sources. A R5 is the next best thing for BitTorrent downloaders unless a DVDRip, BRRip or a true HD copy of the movie is already available.

Listed below are R5 release dates for January – December 2011. Please keep in mind that these dates are subject to frequent change. Additionally, note that some of the movies mentioned below have R1 DVD and Blu Ray versions already released or leaked online.
