According to Wikipedia, “A seedbox is a private dedicated server used for the uploading and downloading of digital files”. If you are a member of a private torrent tracker, chances are that you’ll already be familiar with seedboxes and other related terminology. But what if you don’t know jack sh1t about them? Or what if you are having trouble with your existing box and need further assistance to properly configure it? Or maybe even help with the purchase of one? #seedbox channel on IPTorrents IRC network might just be what you are looking for. It’s a free help channel that can aid you with basically anything related to seedboxes.

IPTorrents

Damn, IPTorrents sure has a lot of beautiful logos it’s almost distracting. Anyways as we said before the #seedbox channel is run by a few helpful folks over at IPT, a veteran private BitTorrent tracker (IPT sure are expanding their IRC network as promised earlier). One of the great things about this help channel is that you don’t have to be a member of the tracker to join it– it’s open to all. Here is a brief description of the chan, as explained by IPT staff:

We, Staff of IPTorrents IRC, last night opened seedbox channel that is about to focus on seedboxes, shells, their users and their problems regarding their boxes. This channel is open for everyone, anyone who is looking for seedbox, anyone who needs help regarding one, also anyone who professionally offers seedboxes or shells, is invited to join us.

Last time I checked, they weren’t sponsored by any seedbox provider and it was a voluntary effort. It’s only been three days since this channel was officially launched and there’s already a fair amount of activity going on. Expect #seedbox to become even more popular with the backing of IPT’s huge user base and specially because of the unique free service they provide.

IRC channel details are as follows:

Special thanks to JusticeI and rest of IPT staff for the heads up.

I'd say stay away from this channel if you're a beginner. There are no strict rules or any guidelines for beginners at all.. Making shell-acc theft and other not-so-fun stuff possible.

NEVER EVER give out shell-access to ANYONE you don't know IRL or trust 110 percent.

This channel is a great idea, but it's a BIG security risk.

Also we do have rules set,
an idea NOT to give any information
    is written in rules file.

    Quote:
We advise you don't write your contact details e.g address or email address (...)

    Quote:
Do not share your IP addresses or other personal information should you not desire it.

    To previous poster:
I don't know who gave you false
    information, I'm guessing you did
not talk to IRC staff directly,
do not blame us then and please
    take responsibility for what
    you wrote before.

I'll asume those rules are written on the IPtorrents-tracker, as i could not find any rules nor url's to any guidelines or such in the IRC-chan..

If not, i guess you've come up with them now, since i asked you ON IRC about it, and the reply i got was something similar to "Rules? What rules? That will only scare the users off"

    I'll simply add "rtfm-soup"

    Stop insulting me.

Mentioned rules are written in IRCd config and are available under "/rules" command.
    Who'd think, huh?

No, you did not ask me a thing, I have read the logs.
    You just said
    >> "Rules? What rules? That will only scare the users off"

Logs say it looked like that:
[14-10-2009 17:36] Someone: like what rules?
[14-10-2009 17:36] Someone: if we base it on too many rules
[14-10-2009 17:36] Someone: we are alienating users

Mind he said "too many", we got enough rules that apply to entire IRC server already.

IPT IRC Staff, in our channels, ensures that users are safe.
But there's always one guy who either likes to screw something up, is simply bored or just can't live one day if didn't flame someone or something. It's not worrying us at all.

Here, by that, I quit this conversation once and for all

"IPT IRC Staff, in our channels, ensures that users are safe."

    Well, good luck.

"Logs say it looked like this"
Well, not a too big of a difference eh?

Mind the rules of the ircd, but chan-specific rules or guidelines don't exist. Trying to save your asses when you've got to put it as nicely as possible, no fucking clue is hilarious.

Kinda like promoting the use of TeamViewer ;)

I'd be more worried about the lusers coming into your chan getting raep'd instead of trolls, and/or someone trying to make you understand the risks involved.

IPT is very helpful in a lot of aspects, however, if you need help using a seedbox, you probably shouldnt be using one. that is just my opinion tho

I suggest that if you get a seedbox and dont know much about them you make sure you get with a good company who has quick support

The seedbox I use is located here...

they have been very helpful in any questions i have
