How to avoid fake movie torrents

Those who have downloaded ripped movies off the Internet must be familiar with the name 'aXXo'. aXXo is considered to be a legend in the movie rip scene. Unlike most other underground piracy groups which consists of several members, aXXo releases are ripped by a single person. aXXo movies rips are famous for their high quality, smaller file size (mostly 700MB single CD) , absence of security risks and reliability.

However aXXo's releases have been subject to frequent attacks by anti piracy groups such as MPAA. MPAA is known to upload fake torrents or virus infected files imitating aXXo releases such as this one - dont download its a fake. MPAA is famous for using foul tactics (in other words, they, and everyone who sucks up to them are shit asses) to discourage file sharing over the Internet.

So how can we avoid fake movie torrents which use aXXo's name? Certain torrent sites allow maintaining user accounts for uploaders. You can verify a genuine aXXo release by cheking the uploader name against the following.

These are aXXo's accounts on few torrent sites.

Make sure the torrent is posted by one of the above listed genuine accounts. If it's not, there is a good chance of it being a fake. Additionally, some fake aXXo torrents may require you to download an additional 'w3w player software'. This is a trojan and should never be downloaded into your PC (thanks maddy).

There is a site (nForce) that tracks every genuine torrent release (not only movies) in the scene. Whenever you come across a suspicious torrent, make sure the release (with the release group's name) is listed in nForce. nForce removes fake torrents from list (called 'nuking') pretty quickly. Mind you there is no download facility @ nForce so you'll have to download the file from a torrent site like torrentspy of use a software such as Bit Che.

Please DO NOT download anything from superfundo.org! or other similar sites.
This site is meant to track down on bootleggers, probably even maintained by MPAA!
If you don't believe me then why don't you read the .NFO file on aXXo's original releases? It clearly mentions the site's name!
Fake torrents DO NOT Mention the site's name! superfundo.org is FAKE!

    maddy,
Some say that site is real, some say it's fake. Ones i downloaded off the site were real. But better to avoid it coz it seems dodgy (porno ads and everything)

Are you aware as to whether nforce does a comprehensive scan of ALL torrents released ?
In other words should we assume that if a particular release is not listed in nforce, then it is a fake or suspicious ?

    kayhaytha,
nforce tracks most of scene releases.

If a release is bad, it is removed from nForce (nuked). So if a torrent is in nForce for 1-2 days without getting nuked, it's not a fake.

But remember, nforce doesnt provide the torrent file. They just provide the release name and .NFO. The torrent file you have to get through various bit torrent sites like torrentspy. Be careful doing this coz even fakes can be uploaded with identical name of scene release.

or you could just find a private tracker site and that is a better way to make sure you don't get fakes or virus's or stuff like that, u can still get bad syncs, crops, hard subs (which are anoying) and some R5 have an echo sometimes, but i've never got a fake or virus from a private tracker.

    BJ Boehm,

Downside of private trakers are that most of them are invitation based and have very strict laws on leeching (rightly so though) so thats why most ppl try public sites. But yeah they are waay more reliable than public ones.

Hi, I've been a heavyweight downloader of aXXo's releases for some years now, and I gotta say that the website: axxo.superfundo.org does seem a little strange. But I haven't had anyone knocking on my door (yet!) Besides, as long as the torrents are real, I don't care about any lawsuits as it's the MPAA and RIAA who are the criminals in this farce.

I have however, come across too many of these 'fakes' across the regular websites, and it's time someone does a number on the asshole corporations by screwing with their operations - I'm not suggesting anything, but as a movie buff, I'm just tired of the BS that we, as an internet community have to put up with. We have something that the corporations do not: "decency". We share our things, but they steal from us!
