Some of you might remember DCMovie.org, a direct download link forum which we recently featured. DCMovie was a niche forum which offered downloads to hundreds of Disney cartoons as well as original Disney movies. While the site was an excellent resource for cartoon & live action series fans, it unfortunately ran into troubled waters sometime last month. DCMovie’s forum (which contained all the download links) was removed from it’s previous domain and was forced to move to a temporary host. Thankfully, this rather unstable arrangement (they were hosted on Byet, a free hosting provider) did not continue for long – DCMovie finally found a new, more stable home and moved under the wings of Classic Nick Shows aka CNS (as we have mentioned before, CNS is a veteran DDL forum that specializes in all Nickelodeon shows). With the recent merger, CNS has now become a one stop resource for those looking to download both Nick and Disney shows.

Classic Nick Shows

Out of these two forums, Classic Nick Shows is probably the older and more popular site. It’s part of a network of cartoon related forums, BitTorrent trackers (afaik, they are affiliated with Neptoons tracker) and IRC channels and has a very experienced group of staffers behind its operations. CNS currently has over 6500 registered members and indexes over 2500 releases. Although smaller than CNS in several aspects, DCMovie too was a strong community back when it was online. At last check, the site had over 1500 registered members and indexed around 1000 Disney shows including movies, cartoons and live action series (to see how DCMovie looked when it was online, read this post).

With the merger, CNS has now become ‘the’ place to download both Nick and Disney shows. CNS’s downloads section which already indexed several hundred live action shows, cartoons and game shows aired on Nickelodeon network has received a boost with the migration. Almost all the releases posted at DCMovie which included Disney channel original movies (DCOMs), Disney toons and live action series have now been moved to CNS’s new Disney downloads section. A screenshot showing part of the forum index at CNS can be seen below:

CNS Download Section

Note that the downloads sections are only visible for registered members. Speaking of registration, if you don’t already have an account you can always create one now as the site is open for signup.

Note that if you were an old DCMovie member, you’ll still have to create a new account as user accounts were not migrated to CNS.

For those who’ve been downloading movies over BitTorrent, the name PassThePopcorn (PTP) should sound familiar. PTP which started out as a rather unknown tracker called SceneMovies quickly established itself as one of the largest specialized movie torrent sites on the net. Built on the much famed Gazelle RC2 codebase, PTP’s rich torrent index coupled with it’s organization features lured movie lovers from all over the world, increasing its popularity within a short period of time. However, PTP’s rise to fame was not without obstacles – there’s been more drama and controversy surrounding this site than perhaps any other private tracker in existence. PTP had so far managed to survive ownership changes, domain switchovers, internal disputes and even controversies surrounding staff involvement in child pornography links. PTP’s good luck however seemed to be ending when it’s owners announced imminent closure of the site earlier today. Shortly after this announcement, PTP seems to have undergone yet another management change and it looks like the tracker will, after all, not close down as planned.

PassThePopcorn

Latest round of PassThePopcorn’s troubles started about a week ago, when their Paypal account was frozen along with the collected donations money. Quoted below (with edits) is forum post by one of the administrators explaining the situation:

Hi all,
Earlier this morning, our paypal account was frozen - it was suspected that our site was the front for some sort of child exploitation service. We have had to set up a different method of donating, since our current funds are inaccessible.
It's not exactly clear who has reported us for such behavior, as it's totally "out there", but we are just going to have to move on and hope that stays behind us. We have to change the way we do donations from now on, at least for some time until we can resolve our quarrel with paypal.
Esophagus edit:
Here is what seems to be known so far. All of the funds on the account have been frozen. Dexter, former SysOp of PTP until a few days ago, was the one who handled this sort of thing and accessed the account directly. For whatever reason he is unreachable at the moment (we don't suspect him of anything) so Z tried to set up a new account to help get us through the emergency. As a new account that one was also frozen until Z provides his SSN and some form of ID which he is weary of doing. We don't know why the first account was frozen and we don't know who did it. We do know we're doing everything in our power to try and fix this and want to stick around.
trza edit:

Apparently the staff didn’t have much success trying to resolve the situation -A notice was posted on homepage earlier today, announcing the imminent shut down of PTP:

Dear PTP Users,
It's sad that it's come to this, but after a long discussion and several days of issues with donations and such, we have decided to close our beloved site forever. We are incredibly saddened that circumstances have come to this, and we cannot begin to say how sorry we are about this. This site has become part of our lives. We've gained friends, some knowledge, and of course a good movie or two. There's no good way to write a goodbye news post, and there's definitely not any part of this we enjoy.
We've been through a lot, as a community, and as staff. We've had our ups, our downs, and we've overcame them all. This, sadly, is something we cannot overcome. We simply cannot afford to push on anymore, and we regret to inform you of this decision that has not come lightly.
We love our community, and we cannot begin to express the thanks we have for all of you in your hard work, support of each other and the site itself, and the countless hours most of you have spent on the site making it the great site it has become.
As one last token of our appreciation, we will be enabling site-wide freeleech and keep the site up until the end of our servers billing cycle. This will be essentially until the end of this month. This may seem small in the grand scheme of things, but it's all we can do at this time. We hope you all understand the sadness that comes with this decision, and know it was something we have not taken lightly. Our userbase is incredible, and we hope you find a home after we're gone.
As said, we are so grateful for all of you, and we hope you can see this from our perspective.
In closing, to our userbase, I personally thank you for everything, and hope you take what you've learned here and utilize it wherever life takes you.
We, the owners, have decided this has proven too much for us personally, and have made this decision with our staff. This decision is final.
PassThePopcorn.me Staff

This notice however was only up for several hours until it was preceded by a new announcement. It spoke of yet another management change and as it stands right now, the site will not shut down as planned earlier.

PTP: Now under new management!
Z and Dexter were generous enough to transfer the ownership of the site. Please do not speculate on my identity, I will not confirm or deny anything. I do not want it to become a well-known fact.
With that said, the site-wide freeleech will continue for 48 hours as payment of the staff's appreciation for you sticking with us throughout the site's tumultuous times.
Please do us a favor, and do not hit-and-run the FL torrents. Staff will be checking for this, and unfortunately disciplining those as necessary.
More details to come!

This should indeed be good news for PTP’s 19000 strong user base and of course, for movie tracker community in general. Despite internal disputes and controversies, PassThePopcorn remains to be one of the largest movie trackers online with over 31000 active torrents pointing to 18500 movies by 11500+ directors.

If you are on the lookout for full Blu Ray movie or TV torrents, here’s a private tracker you might find interesting. Blu Torrents specializes in Blu Ray video content that are untouched and whole. These files are not ripped, compressed or modified by any means and you get to enjoy high quality video along with special features and extras that are in the original Blu Ray disk. Downside of this is the massive file size – sometimes, the untouched BD video source for a single movie can take up to about 40GB. Although not a massively hyped up tracker, Blu Torrents has slowly but steadily been building a decent community. v2 of the site which apparently included a complete re-write of the codebase was launched last July with an improved user interface, Secure SSL connectivity and numerous other optimizations. If you are interested in becoming a member, new registrations are currently being accepted.

Blu Torrents

Launched several months ago, Blu Torrents has managed to attract nearly 7000 new members during this time. This is actually a decently sized user base for a niche tracker. The fact that not many out there would want to allocate 40GB of their bandwidth and hard disk space for a single movie makes this achievement even more impressive :p

Although the name of the tracker is Blu Torrents, it does index regular HD videos (including rips and other encodes), DVDRs, etc as well. However, the primary focus of the site seems to be on BD25 and BD50 releases as well as full disk re-encodes. Most of these releases are exclusive to Blu Torrents and are uploaded by the site’s internal encoders (internal releases may be identified by ‘BTNET’ tag on torrent title). In addition, there are some nice tutorials on Blu Ray encoding in their ‘Guides/Tutorials’ section. The site however could do with some more content – it currently tracks 410 torrents out of only ~220 are only active. Screenshot of the torrent index is embedded below:

Blu Torrents Index

If you are interested in joining, registrations for Blu Torrents are currently open. The site’s max user limit is set to 10000 which leaves around 3000 more free slots up for the taking.

Site Name: Blu Torrents (http://www.blu-torrents.net)

Signup URL: http://www.blu-torrents.net/signup.php

Note: For those who signed up for this tracker prior to v2 launch, you’ll first need to recover account details using the ‘Recover Password’ option on site before attempting to log in.

Blazblue Calamity Trigger has finally arrived for the PC. Although this fighting game (which is of the same genre as Street Fighter 4), was released for the consoles several months ago, the street date of the PC version was delayed by several weeks and was scheduled for sometime around the 20th of August. Despite the delays, the PC port is finally here and judging by the response we have received so far, some folks have already got their hands on a copy (not that this is not the arcade version of the game which leaked earlier this year). So here’s our routine troubleshooting article for Blazblue Calamity Trigger. This article tries to address two of the most common issues people seem to be having with the game – issues when saving single player progress and inability to change screen resolution.

How to save progress in Blazblue Calamity Trigger

Judging by comments left in several gaming forums, many people seem to have run into the issue of not being able to save progress in single player portion of the game. The solution for most of these cases is rather simple and we’ve discussed it numerous times before. BCT is a Games For Windows Live (GFWL) supported game – to save progress, you need to be logged into a GFWL account. If you don’t have an online account, don’t worry - you can always create an offline local profile and continue playing. Step by steps to create an offline profile in GFWL based games can be found below – these should work for all GFWL 3.1 based games.

  1. Launch the game. Open the Windows Live menu (or it will open automatically, prompting you to log in or create a new account).
  2. If you are not logged into any GFWL profile continue to step 3. If you are already logged onto a profile (local or online), try launching the single player component and try to save progress. If saving and loading works fine, you obviously have no problem. If it does not work, you’ll need to sign out of the current profile before continuing to step 3 (Create profile button will only become visible when you aren’t logged in).
  3. Click on ‘Create new profile’ button.
  4. In the dialog box that pops up DO NOT hit continue. Hitting continue will take you to a registration page for an ONLINE profile – this is not the requirement.
  5. Once in the ‘Create Gamer Profile’ window, scroll down so that you can see the bottom paragraph.
  6. Look for the hyperlinked ‘created a local profile’ link in last paragraph. Clicking this will allow you to create a new offline profile.

Offline account will not let you play online. For those who are interested in online play and who already have a GFWEL online account, keep in mind that Blazblue Calamity Trigger is compatible with any Games For Windows Live key. You can insert any key from your old GFWL based games (Bioshock 2, Street Fighter 4, Fallout 3 GOTY Edition, The Club, etc) can play BCT online legitimately.

How to change screen resolution in Blazblue Calamity Trigger

In game options in BCT may not display all the screen resolutions and your favorite res can be missing from the list (I’ve seen folks running into problems when trying to lower the resolution). If this is the case, you can manually edit display settings configuration file to force the game run in your preferred resolution.

  1. Navigate to  C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\ARC SYSTEM WORKS\BLAZBLUE-CT\Config\ folder.
  2. Open the file DisplaySettings.cfg with a text editor.
  3. You should be able to edit the entries to set your proffered resolution. Please make sure to use an standard resolution which is supported by your monitor – entering unsupported resolutions can result in black screen errors upon game launch.

Let’s face it – there are more than a few places on the internet that offer latest Hollywood movie downloads. We ourselves have covered several specialized BitTorrent sites that cater only to movies and movies alone. However, there doesn't seem to be a lot of buzz for sites offering downloads to non mainstream movies or films released outside the US and UK. Is it because there aren’t such sites ? Not really – there are plenty of trackers and forums that cater to this type of content – they just aren’t as popular among the masses. Today’s article is about ForeignMoviesDDL, a direct download link forum that specializes in non mainstream movies and foreign movies from across the world. You can find download links to thousands of English and non English movies on this site, including some rare content not usually found on even the largest of movie trackers.

ForeignMoviesDDL

Although you may have never heard about it before, FMDDL is not a new site at all – it’s been around since 2007 and indexes around 10000 movies from different regions of the world. With nearly 11000 registered members, this site has a decent user base as well. At a glance, FMDDL appears to be a release blog with a rather unattractive layout. Although you can search for and download movies using this interface, the real value of this site lies in the forum underneath. If you visit http://forums.foriegnmoviesddl.com, register and log in, you’d find that it’s a fully equipped discussion board with categorized threads offering direct download links to thousands of movies (DDL links are often files hosted on Hotfile, Rapidshare, etc – they all work great with JDownloader).

Speaking of the content indexed on FMDDL, it’s all movies. However, don’t expect to find the latest Hollywood blockbuster flicks here. Indexed films are categorized into 5 mains sections based on the region they originated from; North America, UK, Australia and New Zealand (English, non mainstream movies), South America & Africa, Europe & Russia Southern, Western & Central Asia and finally Eastern & Southeastern Asia . There is also an additional category titled ‘Silent Movies, Documentary & Others’ which is pretty much self explanatory. Each of these forum sections have a main index ‘stickied’, making it easier to find what you are looking for. An individual thread for a specific movie is usually pretty detailed with screen captures, plot summary and of course, download links. Seen below is an screenshot of FMDDL’s main index:

Foreign Movies DDL Index

Getting into FMDDL is not hard at all – the site is open for registration and is currently accepting new members. If you are looking for non mainstream English movies or films produced outside the US, this is without a doubt a great site to have.

You hear about game trainers being released for full games but you don’t often see them being developed for game demos. This is not a bad thing really - If you are a video game developer and if a trainer of a hack appeared online for your latest demo, that usually means the full game is going to be a hit on the targeted platform. It’s just been a day since a try-out version of highly anticipated Mafia 2 was released by 2K Games and the modding community has already stepped up and released the first trainer for the game. While Mafia 2 demo (which is being made available over Steam) features a functional, playable version of the game , it has restrictions such as time limitation, reduced missions and inaccessible areas. The trainer removes some of these obstacles, giving players more time to check out the demo.

Mafia 2 Cover Image Box Art

The trainer released by ModMyWhat (MWW), a modding news site and a community, offers over 10 options. This includes unlimited ammo, infinite money, ability to enable or disable police and most importantly, the ability to remove the timer countdown. It also adds an interesting ‘waterhover’ option which if enabled will allow vehicles to float over water. Note that some of these functions seem to be buggy and will sometimes crash the game. However, in general it works fine and does not seem to have any major issues.

[Click Here] to visit trainer homepage – contains a description and links for the Mafia 2 Demo trainer.

No matter how many kick ass trainers are released, keep in mind that this is still a demo. It offers only a fraction of the content the full game has to offer and should only be used to ‘try before buy’. Speaking of buying, Mafia 2 seems to be a title well worth spending the money on. If you are thinking of pirating this, I suggest you try to buy it since Mafia 2 has some PC gamer friendly developers behind it who really deserve the appreciation.

Whenever we feature a private torrent tracker, direct download link forum or any other site on this blog, we usually make it a practice to revisit the site later on to check on its progress. If the site has really done well and reached important milestones, we even go ahead an post an updated article highlighting recent changes. This is one such occasion when a tracker has done well and deserves a second mention. Neptoons, a classic cartoon tracker we featured a couple of months ago, has managed to expand its torrent index beyond 100 complete series packs (this is without taking into account individual episodes and full season packs indexed on site – we’re talking about complete series where all seasons/episodes of a show are packed into a singe torrent). In addition, Neptoons has forayed into the interesting niche of comics torrents – the site now has around 50 different comics indexed. Most of these are again complete series packs where all issues in a particular comic are bundled together.

Neptoons

Neptoons (formerly Fox Kids) is not one of those huge torrent sites where you can find 50k+ users and an equal number of torrents. It’s a small community targeted at a specific set of users, namely fans of classic cartoons, comics and hard to find animated series. It’s torrent index which currently has 350+ active torrents might look small at first – but that’s until you realize almost every torrent on this site is either a season pack or a complete series. The amount of content integrated into these packs is without a doubt equivalent to 10000+ torrents on any other torrent site. And that fact that most of the stuff indexed on Neptoons isn’t available anywhere else adds even more value to this tracker.

As mentioned earlier, Neptoons’s main attraction is classic cartoons. From cartoons made in the 1930s to the early 2000s, you can find a great selection of animated content on this tracker. This includes popular shows aired on networks such as Boomerang, Nick, Cartoon Network, etc as well as those that ran on movie theaters back in the 1940s and 1950s. In addition to toons, a lot of comics have also been uploaded to the tracker recently. In true Neptoons style, comics too seem to be uploaded in packs – usually all the issues in a particular comic are grouped into a single torrent. The site indexes both scene and non scene releases. However, exclusive uploads by the tracker’s internal encoders far outnumber scene releases which is pretty impressive (note that Neptoons internal releases are not available on any other torrent site). Some of the torrents are shown in the screenshot below:

Neptoons index

If you didn’t manage to get into Neptoons during it’s last open signup, don’t panic - there’s still a chance for you to get in. Although unnoticed by many, Neptoons is currently open for signup. However, the registration page will ask for a username and a password before the signup form is displayed. You can obtain the username and password by simply logging into Neptoon’s IRC channel (no need to go through interviews or contact staff). Follow the steps below to create an account.

  1. Log into Neptoons IRC channel.
    Channel name: #neptoons
    Server: irc.dejatoons.net
    Direct Link: irc://irc.dejatoons.net/neptoons
(If you are new to IRC click here for a brief tutorial)
  2. Note down the username and password mentioned in channel topic.
  3. Visit http://www.neptoons.info/signup.php and enter the credentials you obtained above.

Signup form should now be displayed and you’ll be able to continue the signup process normally, as you’d on any other private tracker.

2010 has been a particularly good year for specialized games torrent trackers. We’ve seen some promising new trackers such as GazelleGames emerge, we’ve seen veteran sites such as bitGAMER announce new changes and we’ve even seen old school trackers such as Underground Gamer and Blackcats Games opening signups. This post is about yet another new addition to the gaming tracker scene - GameBurner (its name and logo seems to be inspired by the popular feed management service FeedBurner). GB is a Poland based tracker dedicated to tracking PC and console video games. The site has one of the most attractive, eye catching layouts seen on a games tracker (and it appears to be built on a tracker script we’ve unheard of). Additionally, GB features a slot based downloads system that allows you to download any torrent as free leech or 2x upload, a ‘gold’ based bonus system and several other cool features. the site is currently open for signup and is accepting new members.

GameBurner Logo

We’re not exactly sure when GB officially opened to the public.  The welcome note on homepage is dated 3rd August so it can’t be much earlier since then. During the short period of time it’s been online, GB has managed to recruit over 550 new members and even managed to rack up over 800 active torrents. The number of torrents is impressive, considering the fact that this is a niche site rather than a general/0day tracker.

One of the first things you’ll notice after joining GameBurner is the flashy UI. The red and orange based layout looks and feels ideal for a games torrent tracker. It’s default torrent view is something similar to detailed ‘movies view mode’ on PTN v2 and Wunza. Each torrent has it's own tile which contains a miniature image of the game’s cover, seeder/leecher details, file size as well as three separate buttons (Normal, FL and 2X UP) that facilitate torrent download.

GameBurner Index

If you are wondering why the need for three buttons, they each serve a different purpose. If you download by clicking the ‘Normal’ button it will work like a regular download. If you download using the FL button, the torrent would become free leech (only upload amount counted towards your stats). And if you download using the 2X UP button, torrent would have double upload enabled. Note that the number of FL and 2X UP downloads a user can have at a given time is limited – this is based on the number of slots available. New users by default have two 2X upload slots and two free leech slots.

Another noteworthy feature on GameBurner is the gold based bonus system. You gain gold for seeding torrents and you can unlock some interesting site features by spending these. There are some cool features to unlock such as ‘double upload for a week’ (and my Google translated version of the bonus page had an upgrade called ‘wild penis’).

GameBurner Bonus system

As mentioned earlier GameBurner is a Polish tracker. Default site language is Polish but there is an English option which you can switch to. However, we recommend using Google Chrome’s automatic translation as the English language option seems to be incomplete. Either way GameBurner is currently open for signup and interested readers can create a free account without jumping hoops.

Life was so simple back when only one or two instant messaging networks existed – this was the era before Facebook and Twitter. Now however, even novice PC users connect to about half a dozen IM and social networking sites including Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, AIM and so on. Most people use separate desktop clients to connect to these services – needless to say this consumes a lot of RAM and may even clutter your system with too many running processes. If you use more than one social media/instant messaging service to keep in touch with your friends, you should check out Trillian. Trillian is an application that lets you connect to all these services through a simple interface. A beta of Trillian 5 is now available to the public and for those who are using Windows 7 and Windows Vista, this is a highly recommended download.

Trillian Screenshot

Trillian 5 is a major upgrade over previous 4.X Trillian Astra releases – and Cerulean studios seem to have got a lot of things right with this release. First and foremost, Trillian 5 is faster than ever. I’ve been using Astra for several months and the new version felt a lot smoother and more responsive the moment I tried it. As always, RAM consumption was fairly low with the memory resident module using around 30MB max (around 15MB average) memory.

Trillian twitter integration

Trillian’s user interface has seen some massive improvements in v5.  It’s no longer the cluttered layout that made you jump hoops to read a Twitter update or interact with your Facebook account. Trillian 5 features separate modules and direct integration with both Twitter and Facebook (alongside a number of other services, with support for more possible via plugins) – following and managing these services via the app is now a pleasure.

On top of UI and speed improvements, Trillian 5 comes packed with numerous other features such as synchronized chat history, Foursquare with GPS support, native video and audio chat, group chat, file transfers, compact mode, full Windows 7 integration, support for over 18 different IM and social media services including IRC and POP3 Email, fully skinnable interface, etc.

Note that Trillian 5 is currently in beta, I’ve been using the beta version for several days and so far but haven’t come across any major issues or crashes apart from several minor glitches. The pre release version looks very much usable and is highly recommended to anyone who users Twitter, Facebook and instant messaging extensively.

There was a time when new General/0Day trackers were featured almost everyday here on this blog. Lately, we’ve been focusing a lot on giving the spotlight to new niche torrent trackers and it wouldn’t be wrong to say general trackers were ignored to a certain extent. Today’s post however is about an excellent general/0day torrent site – CZTEAM, a tracker we’ve had very good relations with since a long time. CZTEAM (formerly CZONE) is a closed private community that indexes all sorts of content including movies, games, e-books, music, TV shows, etc (their latest addition is the ‘3D movies’ section which already appears to be a hit among the community). CZTEAM is usually closed to the public and you don’t often see invites for this tracker floating around on BitTorrent forums. In case you missed out on our previous CZT giveaways and still aren’t a member of this tracker – we have 100 more invites to give away, free of charge and no strings attached.

When it comes to general/0day trackers, CZT is as good as it gets (although for some reason it’s not one of those hyped up torrent sites). A massive user base, content rich torrent index, good download speeds, scene and non scene releases – CZT has most qualities that lead to the success of a private tracker. If you are concerned about statistics, the site currently has a registered user base exceeding 30000 members and tracks 17000+ active torrents.

Speaking of content, you can find almost all major scene and P2P releases on CZT. In addition to the usual torrent uploads that you can find on almost any other site, CZT has some exclusive releases as well as quite a few unique packs. For example, their recently added 3D movies section is something you don’t often find on a general tracker. Movies/3D category currently has 75+ films indexed and more are getting added as days go by. A screenshot showing some of the releases on CZT can be found below:

CZT Torrent Index

In case you want to check popular releases pre’d recently on CZT, use the ‘Torrents of the Day’, ‘Torrents of the Week’ and ‘Torrents of the Month’ tabs located above the main index. These highlight popular torrents uploaded during the said time span.

As we said earlier we will be giving out 100 free CzT invites to our readers on a first come, first served basis. To request for an invite, all you have to do is to send us an E-mail with the following format:

  • Subject of the E-mail should be ‘CZT 02’. We use an automated software to filter the mails so don’t get this wrong.
  • In the body of the mail, please include a link to a profile page on a private tracker of your choice– for example http://trackername.org/user.php?id=2447424 (you can visit the profile page on most trackers by clicking on the username located next to your ratio stats)
  • Send your email to invites[dot]filenetworks[at]gmail[dot]com

First 100 valid requests will be sent an invite. Good Luck!

Special thanks to |nvari (CZT admin) for hooking us up with this offer.
