With so many specialized movie torrent trackers and DDL forums around, you’d think you have access to all the flicks internet has to offer. However, there are some sites waiting to be discovered that index content not found anywhere else – yep, sites like Surreal Moviez. Surreal movies is a huge direct download link forum with tons of movies – unlike most other similar sites of this genre, SM focuses on non mainstream flicks - “Here at SurrealMoviez, the focus is away from the mainstream, leaning heavily towards experimental movies, surreal movies, independent movies, extreme cinema, artistic movies... etc...”. SM offers direct downloads to a diverse set of content spanning across several decades – from movies made in early 1900s to late 2000s. Both English and non English flicks are indexed.

Surreal Movies

It may not be the most talked about DDL forum on the net but Surreal Moviez is pretty big. It’s index is huge by any standards and contains 25000+ titles. This includes movies, shorts and documentaries. As said above there is a diverse variety of content here – SM has retro, classic movies made in early 1900s as well as new, modern movies produced in the late 2000s. In addition to the large number of English movies available, SM indexes many non English movies such as those in Russian, French, Italian, Mandarin, German, Korean, Romanian (and the list goes one).

Surreal Movies Index

Having a huge amount of movie download links would not do any good unless they are organized properly. Thankfully, SM does a pretty impressive job at presenting what it indexes. The main browse page is well organized and each movie displays Year, Director, IMDB rating, Country and Language information next to it’s title. You can search for a movie using the built in search or browse the index in alphabetical order. There are some other cool features such as Directors collections, actors/actresses collections, other movie collections, etc – all of these are accessible through the ‘Movies Section’ located on top of left sidebar. Individual movie description pages are also detailed and come complete with screen captures, cover art, movie summary and of course, download links.

Speaking of download links, Surreal Moviez does not host any files on it’s own servers. However, it indexes verified, non fake download links to files hosted on services such as RapidShare. Some of the file are password protected and the password is usually given in movie description page.

Registrations for SM are currently open. If you are a movie lover, a collector or an enthusiast, this is a forum you’ll want to become a member of.

If you upload files, images or videos to the internet on a frequent basis, File and Image Uploader (better known as FileUploader or FU) can be a great asset to have. It’s a less hyped but a very useful piece of software. This simple application allows you to upload files to over 250 (280 at time of writing) one click hosting services such as Rapidshare, Megaupload, Storage.to, HotFile, etc from the comfort of your desktop. If the file you need uploaded is an image, FU can take care of that too – it supports a number of image hosting services including BayImg, ImageShack and many more. The software comes absolutely free of charge and more importantly is not packed with malware, viruses, toolbars or any other form of crapware :)

File and Image Uploader

Among the ~280 services supported by FU are dedicated file hosters such as RapidShare, Image hosting services such as ImageShack, specialized video hosting services such as Megavideo and even link spreader services like Uploadjockey. Desktop integration for most of the listed services work – you can upload files and retrieve the download link with no web browser involvement at all. Premium accounts and simultaneous uploads are also supported.

One of the best features of this small application is that it displays a summary of file hoster capabilities the moment you select one. While still a beta feature, this function allows quick access to information such as max supported file size, storage time, etc of each one click host and lets you make an informed decision as to use which service. You can even view a summary  of all supported services through the ‘File hosters’ button on topmost toolbar.

FU SUmmary

On top of all this, FU comes with several built in utilities such as a downloader, Link checker and protect grabber, link sorter, universal file manager and several more. While these may not be advanced tools, they are certainly worth having.

Download

Again, this is free software and does not contain any adware or spyware.

[Click Here] to visit the official download page to download latest version of File and Image Uploader

Note: Some hosting services required additional DLL files to function – you can download these via the links at the bottom of download page.

BitTorrent trackers that focus solely on mobile content are a rare find in the BitTorrent community. SyncTheBits, PYM (down), PMTorrents, PodTropolis, JAF are some of the leading trackers in this niche but we really haven’t seen any new mobile oriented trackers being launched in the recent past. This is quite surprising, given the huge popularity gained by iPhone, Windows Mobile, Java, Symbian and other mobile platforms that are in widespread use today. Anyways Mobile.us is a new tracker that aims to break this curse. It’s the latest project from the experienced crew behind XtremeZone and the site has already gotten off to a flying start with over 5k members recruited in less than a month since launch.

Mobile.us

Mobile.us publicly launched on the 17th of March, as the latest offering in XtremeZone family of BitTorrent trackers. In other words, Mobile has two other siblings namely XtremeZone (signups open), a leading Romanian General tracker and Xtremepron, an adult torrent tracker. Since the public launch Mobile.us has managed to recruit over 5500 members – I’m sure a large portion of this user base are members who heard the news from XtremeZone.ro – having a big brother in the BT community has its advantages.

There’s no secret as to what’s indexed at Mobile.us – from iPhone apps to operator logos this site has a wide range of games, software and themes designed for a number of different mobile platforms including Android, Blackberry, iPhone, Java, Symbian, Palm and several others. But that’s not all, this tracker even indexes mobile optimized movies – these are specially re-encoded (say for example into 3GP format) media which can easily be played back on mobile devices, without having to install additional codecs or players. If you have any more questions on content on Mobile.us, the following screenshot should answer most of them:

mobile.us index

While a promising tracker, Mobile.us has been plagued by downtime issues. In fact, this is the main reason why it was not featured on this blog sooner – the site was offline more often than it was online. Thankfully, these issues seem to have resolved by now – and let’s hope the site would stay up for a long time to come.

Signups for mobile.us are currently open. Those who are seeking a new Mobile oriented private tracker would want to check this site out.

It’s been ages since a dedicated sports torrent tracker was featured on this blog. To make up for this, we’re including 4 such specialized BitTorrent trackers in one article :) – Namely Footy Torrents, NHL Torrents, Hall of Fame Torrents and HD Sports Torrents. Between these four sites, you should be able to find and download almost any sports content ranging from Basketball, Baseball, Football (Soccer), American Football, Hockey, Wrestling, Boxing and even Racing. Most of the torrents point to files which are videos of either full matches or highlights packages. In addition, documentaries, DVD releases and sports related TV shows are also available. If you are wondering how to get into these sites, it’s done the old school way – signups are open and registration is free. Better yet, you get access to all four trackers once you register an account on the main BitTorrent site, NHLTorrents.

Note that all of these trackers are built on the same codebase (BtitTracker) and they more or less have the same set of usability features and visual layout. For example, all 4 sites have a ‘Cap Calendar’ which is used to organize recording and encoding of upcoming matches. The seed bonus system is also a common feature. However, note that the indexed torrents vary greatly between the sites – separate private BitTorrent trackers are used to manage the downloads and these trackers operate independent of each other.

Notes:

  • If you create an account on NHLTorrents, you can use the same credentials to log into other three trackers.
  • The signup link for all  sites will redirect to NHLTorrents (for the above reason). You will be shown a brief flash video which will outline site rules before you are actually taken to the signup page.
  • Category based sorting of torrent index does not seem to work in some sites – it’s best to use the regular search feature as opposed to browsing by categories.

NHLTorrents
NHLTorrents
NHLTorrents is a well known private tracker for all things related to Hockey. It indexes match videos (both new and classic) and highlights packages related to tournaments such as NHL, AHL, KHL, DEL, etc as well as related documentaries and DVDs. NHLT seem to have their own cappers and encoders who make available sports content that are not found on other trackers or released by the scene.

Footy Torrents
Footy Torrents
Footy Torrents is a specialized Football torrent tracker. This site tracks video content related to popular Soccer tournaments such as English premier league, Champion’s league, League cup and a whole lot more. Again, there is a lot of unique content indexed here that’s not found on most generic sports trackers. If you are a football enthusiast, this is a must have BitTorrent tracker.

Hall Of Fame Torrents (HOFT)
Hall of Fame Torrents
Hall of Fame Torrents does not focus on a specific sport. Instead, it indexes content related to a number of different categories such as Baseball, Basketball, Fighting, American Football and Racing. Some of the popular events covered include NBA, NFL, NCAA, MLB, Wrestlemania, etc. Like all other sites in the NHLT network, HOFT has fairly good download speeds and decent activity.
HOFT

HD Sports Torrents (HDST)
HD Sports Torrents
You can probably guess what this is from the name itself. HD Sports Torrents is a specialized sports tracker which focuses solely on high definition content. HDTV rips in x264 container and 720p sports videos are quite common on this tracker. One of the downsides is that HDST does not track any exclusive releases – all it does is indexing HD content found in either Footy Torrents, NHLTorrents or HOFT.
HDST

Note: Once you log onto any of one these trackers, all other sites in the network should easily be accessible from the small toolbar on the top.

If you haven’t still downloaded it, here’s TGSC Issue 40. The February 2010 issue of this pirate magazine was released on the 21st of March 2010, a month after issue #39 was pre’d. Amidst a new set of challenges (such as UBISoft’s new DRM), the gaming scene continues to release PC games (which ultimately leak to non scene members and end up in the hand’s of regular pirates on P2P networks). If you are one of our newer readers, TGSC is a scene magazine (chartmagazine) that rates and ranks groups in the gaming scene based on their ‘cracking’ performance. Rankings in issue #40 are based on scene releases for the month of February 2010 (not March).

TGSC 40

Speaking of the latest monthly rankings, SKIDROW tops the charts with 66 pts while RELOADED follows with 48 pts. Just recently, these two groups were locked in a NukeWar over the PROPER of Just Cause 2. Anyways Bamboocha and GENESiS managed to grab 3rd and 4rd positions respectively. It was also interesting to see ViTALiTY crawling up the rankings to grab the 5th spot but a popular release has been long overdue from them (they’ve even been releasing several unprotected budget games recently).

Download

You can download the full magazine to your hard drive and read at leisure.

[Click Here] to download Game Scene Charts Issue 40 from Mediafire.

Note: You do not need additional software to read TGSC. It’s a coded magazine with it’s own rending engine. Everything you need to run the magazine is self contained in a single executable file.

You may download older TGSC editions from our Scene section.

IPAKI Group – The Aftermath

Posted by TEAM FILEnetworks | 4/03/2010 | | 14 Comments »

If you read this article, you should by now know who ‘IPAKI Group’ are. Several days ago internet forums were abuzz with the news that a certain p2p release group who identified themselves as ‘IPAKI Asian Division’ had cracked UBISoft’s Assassin's Creed 2. Main source of these rumors were a Twitter account which seemingly gave live updates on the cracking progress – this Twitter account was said to be maintained by the crackers themselves. As we anticipated, the whole thing turned out to be a hoax. IPAKI eventually linked to a file which they claimed was a crack for AC2 but this was a non functional piece of garbage infected with viruses. They have now publicly admitted the hoax and the nature of Twitter updates have changed dramatically since then.

Quoted below are several recent Tweets from the account http://twitter.com/IPAKIGroup:

We aren't crackers and that was April fool . Enjoy yourselves . follow this link to know who we really are : http://bit.ly/9DkUoe

Stop software piracy , buy the Game and support the developers . Idiots who believed that ACII is going to be cracked , go buy it instead !

All software pirates FAIL . from now on , we shall win the game ! @ubisoft , Task Done , now everybody should buy the game instead of waiting :)

Ubi DRM is the best future protection system against piracy . It withstood all the efforts to get cracked . ViVa Ubi !

As you can see, new Tweets are glorifying UBISoft DRM which has so far been successful against PC game pirates. But is it the best future protection? We don’t think so. “It withstood all the efforts to get cracked.” All? Not all. Several folks in a well known Russian underground community (CS.RIN.RU) are working on a server emulation patch – and they’ve been partially successful so far and have apparently got the game to work until sequence 5. Their method involves playing a legit copy of the game, logging all responses that come from UBISoft servers and building a complete server emulator. However to make the emulator complete, they will have to explore the game 100% which is a time consuming process. Be that as it may, this clearly shows that UBI’s DRM is not as invincible as it is claimed to be.

There are private torrent trackers that open registrations frequently and then there are sites that rarely open their doors. My Anonamouse is a site that belongs to the latter category. Good news here is that they have finally decided to open signups after almost a year, in celebration of Easter holidays. True, you could always obtain an invite easily by going through the IRC interview process but now even that hurdle is gone. This should be great news for E-book and Audiobook lovers – as we have highlighted several times in the past, My Anonamouse is a greatly underrated niche tracker that indexes a vast amount of content and has a huge, friendly community of active members.

My Anonamouse

With over 27000 registered members and 32000+ active torrents, this is a huge ass private tracker. The fact that it’s a specialized site that’s packed with content not usually found elsewhere further increases its value. What’s even more important is that My Anonamouse has been growing at an explosive rate – when we first reviewed this site back in September 2009 it tracked around 14k torrents and had 18k members. During the past 6 months alone, more than 9000 new members have been recruited and over 18000 torrents have been uploaded to the tracker – very impressive stats indeed.

MyAnonamouse_thumb7[1]
Image: Some of the book categories available on My-Anonamouse

As for the content, My Anonamouse primarily tracks E-books and Audiobooks. Unlike most other places, selection of books is not limited to non-fiction or educational content – even novels that deal with fantasy, action, adventure, etc are indexed. This is also one of the handful torrent sites that track music tutorials such as lick libraries, sheet music, guitar/bass tabs etc. A description of the available content as per My Anonamouse staff is quoted below:

If you are a musician, you will find: Lick libraries, sheet music, instructional media as well as Concert DVDs.
For book lovers, we have an amazing selection of both audio and ebooks, ranging from current 'blockbuster' releases to those rare gems.
Our recently added Comic/Graphic Novel section is growing daily.

You can find additional information about My Anonamouse in our previous reviews about the site located here and here. Coming back to the open signups, note that registrations will not be open forever:

We will be opening our doors from Friday, April 2. 12:00 GMT to Monday, April 5. 12:00 GMT. You are welcome to spread the word in the places you frequent so we can bring in some fresh blood into our wonderful community.

For those who like E-books or Audiobooks, this is a must have tracker. If you don’t already have an account,  go head and check the site out.

A quick update from the realm of private torrent trackers – and this time around we have both good news and bad news. Good news is that The DVD Club (TDC), an untouched DVD and Blu Ray torrent tracker, will be open for public signups in the next couple of days. Additionally, their ‘Sci-Fi month’ theme will kick start today with all science fiction movies indexed on the tracker set on free leech throughout the month. You can also expect a lot more movies of this genre to be uploaded, thanks to a number of upload competitions that are currently ongoing. Bad news is about ScL – this elusive private tracker which suffered from extended downtime in the past couple of months has decided to finally call it quits. The site has officially shut down and a lengthy news post on homepage explains the story in detail.

ScL Shut Down
scltrackerlogo_thumb2%5B1%5D_thumb%5B2%5D[1]

As you might already know, ScL tracker has been having a rough ride in the past couple of months. At one point, the site was completely offline for a few weeks. It later returned but that was with the core function of the of the site missing – torrent index was reset and resurrected version tracked 0 torrents. Although the site has been up since then, no new torrents were uploaded to the tracker. Today, an official announcement from tracker staff seals the fate of ScL – it will be shut down and it will not return. Full announcement is quoted below:

ScL forever in our hearts - 2010-03-31

Dear ScL Members,
As you know things haven't been going well lately and we apologize for that. But we would like to say that there is an explanation for everything that has happened in the past months.

In the past 7 months – ScL’s owner and coder SScript has been really inactive. He has been even less active than he was before, which basically means he has been spending approximately an hour a week on the site. He has also been leaving for many weeks without letting any other staffers know, leaving the site on its own and constantly forgetting to pay the server costs (which I'm sure you all noticed since the site constantly went down at the start of each month). SScript was never a good owner. Coding issues that were supposed to be dealt with almost 11 months ago are still not done, and yet he was too arrogant to give direct access to other coders so they could help us out.

In the past year the site has basically been ran by it's mods and admins paying the server costs from their own pocket. And if it wasn't for staff members like pedrowsky, MSO, HL, aquirre, ViperMM, scrappen and winnie - the site would have died a long time ago.

Around 4 months ago ScL went down for a long period because the owner SScript had issues paying for the server. He claims that he had paypal problems. The other staffers – supportive as always wanted to help him to get ScL back up and perhaps ask you guys to donate a little extra so he can keep running the site. But SScript didn’t have a recent copy of ScLs code and DB (His last copy was 8 months old!). Yes we know – The owner and coder of ScL doesn’t have a copy of his own site? As crazy as it sounds – It’s the truth, so now you can understand why we call him a bad owner. After this we really understood how little he cared about the site – so we decided not to support him anymore.

Anyway after weeks of hard work – MSO managed to find a 2 month old copy of the ScL and then host it on aquirres server. This copy – as everyone noticed didn’t have the torrents backed up, so therefore ScL came back up with 0 torrents.

We have been trying for months to find a way to get our torrents back and trust us – if there was a way to do it, it would have been done a long time ago. This is one of the main reasons why we didn’t give out any info to our members – We simply hoped that we could get our torrents back and that everything could go back to normal. Other reasons for us giving you guys information about the sites status this late was that SScript removed the domain since he realized that we are against him now. And as mentioned earlier, we were really far behind on the coding front – so we simply didn’t have a function to mass email our users. However – thanks to mrstonedone (who is actually not a site coder, but an IRC coder) we managed to make a function like this to finally inform you guys about what’s going on.

So what happens now? As tragic and sad as it may be – It’s time for ScL to shut down. We were blessed with the finest community the BT world has ever known and there is no doubt that our members will forever be in our hearts. There is no other tracker and there never will be a tracker with a community as strong and warm as the one ScL had.

But there is still some hope left: ScL will never come back, no. But – The ScL Crew is working on a new promising project and would like to welcome our active and loyal members to join us. This tracker is going to be a magnificent tracker – including a reckless design, a magnificent community, and the one thing ScL always missed – LOTS OF TORRENTS. We’ve got sponsors for this project and we got a really nice budget to work our way around. More info about this project will be given later.

Last but not least – We would like to say that our time as staffers on this tracker has been great and we’ve had a lot of fun serving this community. Even though we’ve had our ups and downs, it has been a pleasure to be staffers of a community this amazing. We will surely miss our fine members and we would like to wish you the best of luck in life.

And PS: The forums will be up until further notice.
Take care,

[END QUOTE]

It would be interesting to see what the new project Ex-ScL staff is supposedly working on. Either way ScL had a good community of members and it’s loyal fans will definitely miss the site. As stated above the forums would continue to stay up. The site however may not be accessible through its usual domain. It will work if you directly type in the IP in the browser address bar (all existing ScL members should have received an E-mail with the current site’s IP).

When game developer UBISoft first announced their new Digital Rights Management (DRM) system for future PC titles, it triggered the start of many debates (Is it right to ask gamers to be online even when playing single player portion of a game?) .Despite heavy criticism, UBI went on and implemented the new DRM on two of their titles; Silent Hunter 5 and Assassin's Creed 2. Much to the dismay of pirates, both these titles remain uncracked to date (that’s not counting the partially working cracks which have bugs). While pirates look desperately for a scene group to break this protection, a group calling themselves ‘IPAKI ASIAN Division’ claims to have already done so. What’s really interesting about this group is that they’ve been updating the public on their progress via microblogging service Twitter.

Since the 28th of March, Twitter account http://twitter.com/IPAKIGroup has been Tweeting messages about AC2 cracking progress. The first Tweet is directed at UBISoft itself, which claims that IPAKIGroup has broken the DRM and will be publishing a crack sin a few days. Full list of Tweets is quoted below:

@UBISOFT We have cracked Assassin's creed II successfully , We are releasing it to public after 3 days because we are sill testing it .

We are debugging assassin's creed II please wait , still many problems we face to get it 100% finished . Viva TokYO !

Missions fixed with our new crack ~ but game is stuck at 13 FPS ~ we are still fixing it

~~Settlers 7 ~~ crack will be available to public after 5 days .

~SH5 ~ too many bugs , has not been fixed yet .

~ACII~ crack will be published after 24 hours , Tokyo's time . everything is fixed and game works fine now .

~Settlers 7 ~ crack delayed , we are facing lots of bugs . We apologize for that .

~ACII~ crack will be published at 7 a.m Tokyo's time . we are putting our final touches on it , keep tuned

If what they say is true, we should see an AC 2 crack out in several hours. However, one should keep in mind that this could very well be a deliberate hoax (and it most likely is). Fake cracks and scams have always been a great way of malware distribution and this could be another such attempt, only more organized.

EDIT: Definitely looks like BS:

Oh my god dammit ! we are very sorry and that was one of our members after he had a fight with us .. we will give you the valid crack today.

Assassin's creed II crack isn't published by us yet . we apologize for that . wait some hours remaining . about 3 hours ago via web

Again we are very sorry for what had happened . we will publish it today , don't be pissed off . about 3 hours ago via web

Regardless of the fact that their DRM gets cracked or not, UBISoft has already won the battle when it comes to Assassin’s Creed 2. The new DRM (despite heavy criticism), has held pirates at bay ever since the game’s release. In a world where every game usually gets cracked before release, this is a huge achievement. However that’s not to say this DRM is unbreakable. Starforce remained uncracked for 422 days until RELOADED publicly released a set of reverse engineering tools that ripped the protection apart. No matter how advanced the protection is, someone, somewhere always finds a way.
