Note that the giveaway will only last for a few hours and you should try to get on IRC as quickly as possible before it becomes too flooded. Step by step instructions to join the invites channel are presented below.

Please make sure to use a valid E-mail address. Once an invite is sent to your e-mail you will be banned from the channel (to avoid flooding). You only get one shot at it so don’t screw it up.

How to get into #invites IRC Channel

  1. Download and install mIRC from here.
  2. Restart your web browser if it was open during mIRC installation.
  3. Click on irc.pussytorrents.org:6011/invites  to join the channel.
  4. If mIRC presents you with a ‘Link Request’ window, choose ‘Change to the new server and join the channel’ option or ‘open a new connection’ option. Press ok.
If you are not using mIRC, just join #invites channel on server irc.pussytorrents.org:6011 from whatever IRC client you are using.

What to do once on the invites IRC Channel?

It’s pretty much explained in detail on the channel topic. But since some people were having problems in the last giveaway, here is a brief tutorial. However it is strongly recommended that you read the current channel topic for the most current information.

  1. Go to the link mentioned on the channel topic. Register for a Travian account using a valid email address. Verify your registration by clicking the link on confirmation email.
  2. Back on the #invites IRC channel, send a private message (PM) to username mentioned in channel topic with your Travian username, verification number and the E-mail address you used in step 2 above. Sending a PM using mIRC can be done by double clicking on the user’s name from the list on the right panel.

While trying to connect to the IRC channel, you may run into error messages or other issues. Read the possible solutions mentioned below to get around them.

If you get Server ERROR: :Closing Link: [IP] Z:Lined (You look like a bot. Be sure to fill in your nick/ident/realname properly.) while trying to connect using mIRC:

  1. Fill in you mIRC Full name, Email Address, Nickname, and Alternative Nickname using believable values - do not use nicks such as Guest23781. (To change these values go to mIRC Tool Menu->Options and Choose ‘Connect’ from right panel).
  2. Save the values and reboot your computer. Try reconnecting the channel now.

Note: The channel may go invite only if a large number of users log in. When this happens TL are known to temporarily open and close the channel to in a bid to prevent flooding. The channel will permanently become invite only (until the next giveaway, if any) once the allocated number of invites (1000 in this case) is given out.

Anti piracy agencies never seem understand the simple fact that whenever they shut down a popular BitTorrent tracker, several new ones pop up to fill the gap. We saw this happen with OiNK (which’s demise gave birth to two piglets – What and Waffles) and we are seeing this again with the recent closure of several popular Swedish trackers. Death of SweDVDR triggered the launch of SceneDVDR and DVDRSource while the shut down of SoftMP3 gave life to SceneSound. Within weeks of shutdown, yet another SoftMP3 replacement called CareStreet has surfaced. CareStreet is a private tracker that specializes in scene released MP3 albums.

CareStreet Logo

Built on the recently made public source code of SoftMP3, CareStreet is essentially a clone (in terms of looks) of the popular music tracker. I don’t really know how much customization is possible with SoftMP3 source but at least some changes would be needed in order for this tracker to survive in the long run – there is already a well established SoftMP3 clone around (which is called SceneSound if you didn’t know).

CareStreet Screenshot

Anyways CareStreet doesn’t seem to have any shortage of members right now. In fact it appears that there is high demand for the tracker –within 7 days since launch over 700 users have signed up. Torrents are being added at an equally good pace too – as of 5/7/2009 there are over 375 torrents indexed on this site. Almost all the torrents are of English music albums, promos, OST, etc released by scene groups. There are both MP3 (lossy) and FLAC (lossless) music indexed on CareStreet.

Signups for this tracker are currently open. If you are interested in scene MP3 releases this might be worth joining.

With all the hype about ‘largest game world in a console game’ I expected Fuel to be somewhat of a special game. I’ve played it for several hours and got to say it got a little repetitive after a while. And personally I feel that the game’s physics system could have been improved. Anyways it’s still a fun game and seems to be a hit among racing fans judging by the number of downloads on BitTorrent networks :p. This is a quick post outlining a few fixes for some of the most common problems associated with Fuel for the PC platform.

Codemasters Fuel PC Cover

I get a ‘Save Failed! Would You Like To Try Again?’ error whenever trying to save the game. How do I solve this?

Sometimes you might encounter a ‘Save Failed’ error whenever you try to save progress. You can get rid of this error by repeatedly pressing the save button and the game will display “Save Successful’ message. However when you try to load the savegame, you’ll notice that your progress is lost and you’ll have to start over from scratch. I don’t know if this will work for you but here is how I got it sorted. I was running Kaspersky Anti Virus in the background and when I ran the game with real time protection paused, saves seemed to work fine. Try doing the same for your security software – worth a try.

Also note that Fuel is Games For Windows Live (GFWL) game which I believe handless the save game files storage for specific profiles. So you could try reinstalling GFWL as well. If you messed up with any of the game files (replaced them with cracked or original files), try creating a GFWL offline account and starting from scratch under that account (you might want to consider a reinstall of the game if it doesn't work the first time).

How do I enable VSync in Fuel?

If you want to enable Vertical Synchronization (VSync) in Fuel, you’ll notice that the in game menu lacks this particular option. It could be a real bummer because some users tend to experience tearing issues without VSync. To enable VSync for fuel try the following:

  1. Download the latest version of RivaTuner from here.
  2. Use RivaTuner’s d3doverrider to force VSync (d3doverrider is the utlity with DirectX logo – hover mouse pointer over it and the tooltip will show).

How do I enable Anti-Aliasing in Fuel?

Even if you do enable/force Anti Aliasing in Fuel, there does not seem to be any visible changes in graphics quality. I am yet to find a solution for this problem. Will update if I come across anything new.

Pretome.Net (PTM), definitely one of the best general/0Day private trackers currently in existence, is now open for signup.  Earlier we used to give monthly free registration keys for Pretome through this blog and if you are one of the readers who missed out on these giveaways, today is your lucky day. If you visit the signup page now, you’ll see that a free registration code is included in the page by default. With movies, music, games E-books and other general content including scene releases, p2p releases and torrent packs, PTM is a great general tracker to have. It is also one of the largest ratio free trackers currently around.

pretome tracker

During the 1.5+ years it has been online, Pretome has recorded an impressive growth. What started as a FunFile spinoff has by today outgrown FunFile itself – with over 36000 torrents and around 20000 members, PTM is one of the larger General trackers around. With the huge publicity given to current open signup, expect the member count to increase rapidly.

Speaking about the content tracked by PTM, it pretty much has everything. It tracks both scene and p2p releases and has a quite a few exclusive packs of its own (over 1000 torrents with ‘PTM’ tag on them). Some of the packs are pretty huge and weigh over 200GB in file size. Screenshot below captures part of PTM’s torrent index:

PTM screenshot

Although not many are aware of it, Pretome is in fact a tracker that does not care about your global ratio. Users however do need to seed each downloaded torrent for 60 hours or to a ratio of 0.75 (only one of these requirements has to be met, not both). Most ratio free trackers are associated with slow download speeds but PTM seem to be an exception – download speeds remain generally very good, just like the way they were before ratio rule changes.

Of course, being free of ratio is not the only good thing about PTM. There are lots of other features such as the credits system, advanced search, RSS, arcade, bookmarks, requests, casino, gallery, radio, etc that we’ll leave you to discover.

Being a private tracker, PTM is usually closed to the public and requires a registration key to log in. However they have opened up signups to the public just for this weekend. Quoted below is a notice posted on site homepage:

For this weekend only (Starting July 3rd at 8:00 PM GMT and ending July 5th at midnight GMT ) Pretome will have an open sign up to celebrate the birth of our nation!.  This means that you will not need to send an invite to have your friends and family join our great community.
WARNING!!!! This does NOT mean that people can use your IP to sign up. Our 1 account per IP rule still stands, so make sure they sign up from a different location
We hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday!!

Don’t miss this chance folks – when it comes to General/0-Day trackers, this is one of the best out there. Get in while you can.

Here on FILEnetworks Blog we talk about private torrent trackers almost everyday. However with the recent TPB saga we thought it was timely to talk about public BitTorrent sites as well. Although there are thousands of such sites, most of these are either meta search engines or torrent indexers – they do not operate their own BitTorrent tracker and the indexed torrents usually rely on external trackers to function. This is not what the BitTorrent community needs right now – over reliance of one tracker could have devastating ripple effects. That’s why in this article we’ve given more focus to public torrent sites that operate their own trackers.

Street Fighter 4 for the PC has been released and the game seems to be an instant hit among gamers. SF4 is a welcome addition to the PC platform which in my opinion hasn’t seen a good fighting game since the good old days of Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat 4. Anyway the aim of this post is to help our readers with one of the most common problems associated with Street Fighter 4 (and some other Games for Windows Live titles). If you do not login with a valid GFWL account, the game will not save your progress – upon restart all your progress will be lost. Now everybody doesn't have GFWL live accounts so how can this problem be solved?

street fighter 4 cover screen

The solution is easy. Create a GFWL offline account. You wouldn’t be able to access achievements this way but the game will definitely save your progress. Creating an offline account is totally free and you don’t even need internet access to do that.

  1. When you load SF4, you will be prompted to create a Windows Live account. Continue.
  2. Choose the create account option and then choose the create offline account option. Click ‘Done’ to save and close.
  3. If you do not get the prompt, press ‘Home’ key while in game to bring up the GFWL settings page where you can create the account.

Cheers!

P.S- How’s your keyboard doing? Mine’s already half destroyed :p

Today we are going to talk about a private torrent tracker that only a few people know of; Filmdom. Filmdom is a new untouched DVDR tracker that is based on the Gazelle codebase. It’s a very small community that’s only starting up but the site admin/staff seem to be capable of taking the site to the next level. Filmdom however is very selective about the users allowed access to the site– like most other trackers they seem to hate inactive members. For this very reason we hear that Filmdom will never have public open signups. But if you want in, we have free invites :)

filmdom

As of 1/7/2009 Filmdom has a user base of around 120 members. Currently there are around 50 movie torrents indexed on the site as well. These statistics might seem low compared to well established trackers but don’t forget that Filmdom is a relatively new site that has been largely unknown to the public ever since its inception. However, if they are to compete with fast growing trackers such as PassThePopCorn or Tehconnection, the rate which new torrents are added will definitely need to be improved.

As mentioned earlier Filmdom is a full DVD tracker. All movies on this site are in DVD-R format – no rips are available. There is already a good mix of new and old titles indexed. Refer to screenshot below for more info:

filmdom screenshot

Filmdom is a Gazelle based tracker and like all Gazelle trackers is has a very organized layout and fast navigation with additional features such as tagging. Currently there are around 9 stylesheets to choose from.

As stated at the start of this article Filmdom is unlikely to have open signups ever. However if you want an invite, we can help you with that. There are two methods to get an invite:

Send us an invite request mail:

  1. Create a new email message with the subject ‘Filmdom’. In the body of the message clearly specify the E-mail address you want the invite sent to (write the email message in the format address@provider.comdo not use the address[at]provider[dot]com notation as you did in previous giveaways.
  2. Send the email to invites.filenetworks@gmail.com
NOTE: We only have a limited amount of invites (100 to be precise). And please allow two days since request for the invite to arrive, before you request for one again.

OR

Join Filmdom IRC channel:

  • IRC Server: irc.omgwtfhax.net
  • Channel Name: #filmdom
  • Direct Link: irc://irc.omgwtfhax.net/filmdom
The invites IRC Channel of course has an unlimited number of invites.

Special thanks to Filmdom admin and staff.

All of you already know the big news regarding The Pirate Bay – it’s going to be sold to some company. This post is not another one of those ‘OMG-TPB-is-gone-those-sellouts-!@#$%-them’ rants which the internet seems to be currently full of. I’ve seen a lot of comments by TPB users on various tech blogs which heavily flame the tracker admins for their decision to sell the site. Most of these comments are made by leechers who contribute nothing to the BitTorrent community – in other words by selfish A-holes. Really, it’s a funny way of saying thanks to a tracker that fought against bullies for such a long time.

The Pirate Bay did fight until the very end - until the law of Sweden designated them as criminals. Once that happens, there is only very little even folks like brokep can do. Whatever’s happening now with TPB, one must not forget the fact they fought (and still fight)alongside file sharers for nearly a decade. In fact, they are one of the main reasons BitTorrent is so much popular these days. Even those who now use l33t private trackers most likely used TPB at some point – I bet majority of such users started out with TPB. And I don’t think any of the ‘angry commenters’ even bothered to read TPB’s side of the story at all. Quoted below are some tweets quoted from Brokep’s Twitter account:

Stop that personal cult-hype! File sharing is so much more than TPB. And TPB is still there. People are so negative for no reason!
..

we asked the community to help out for a long time. we got some support on that, but mostly just "kudos!!"
..

We've been asking people to open more trackers, nothing happens. We've been fighting for five years. Where's the thanks?
..

so either there is 60M in a fund, or there is no site and no money. What's the preferred deal? We have no energy left.
..

Yes, we're trying to avoid just that. It's just a site, we need to take the icon status away so lots of sites can replace that.
..

I'm glad people have high expectations. But we're not that many people. And we've been fighting for a long time. We need help.
..

flattr is coming. video bay is coming. ipredator is running. more is coming.
..

It's not about me leaving you guys alone. It's more that I need your support. We're not going away from the fight.

It’s not a time to throw insults at them folks, it’s a time to show them support, without being ungrateful brats.

And for those who scream this is the end of torrents, it’s not. Shutting down of major sites is nothing new to the BitTorrent community. It’s been happening since the early 2000s and we only see an increase of torrent trackers. Even if the Pirate Bay shuts down for good (or goes legal or whatever – what happens next is only speculation), new trackers will pop up to fill the void as we’ve witnessed many times in the past. So don’t overreact – keep the e-drama to a minimum :)

Popular General/0Day private tracker Ozone-Torrents (Ozone-T) is currently open for signup. Ozone Torrents has decent pre times, good download speeds and a considerable number of users. As a general tracker it tracks all new movies, music, TV episodes, E-books and other scene and p2p releases. This includes lots of Howard Stern show torrents (there is an entire category dedicated to those). If you are looking for a decent General tracker, don’t forget to check this site out.

Ozone-Torrents is more than a year old and is a pretty well established tracker in the BitTorrent scene with it’s own community. It’s not exactly a tiny site but a medium sized one compared to most other private torrent trackers – there are around 7000 members and 9600+ active torrents. Something I’ve noticed with Ozone-T is the very high number of new torrents added in a day – for example more than 125 torrents have been added today alone.

As for the content it has basically everything a General/0Day tracker should have; scene and p2p releases, packs and exclusive torrents. Ozone-T currently has close to 70 movie packs and over 330 TV season packs, some of which are shown in the screenshot below:

ozone-torrents packs

Ozone-T usually requires you to make a donation if you are to get in. However it does open free public signups from time to time (like now) so you cannot really categorize it as a pay-to-leech tracker. Anyway it’s been open for quite some time today and something tells me signups will close soon – get in while you can. Following countries are banned btw; Romania, Turkey, Pakistan, Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Call of Juarez : Bound in Blood is a western themed first person shooter (FPS) that was officially released in North America on the 30th of June. The game is published by Ubisoft and is the second game in the series with the first one being released back in 2006. I’ve managed to install and play the game and it’s definitely looks and feels better than its predecessor. It also seems to be very well optimized and compact. However, what’s even more significant than the gameplay is that Call of Juarez : Bound in Blood is completely DRM free. Nope, not even a serial check is included.

call of juarez bound in blood cover

A lot of newly released PC games come embedded with DRM software much to the dislike of legitimate users; 99% of the time the DRM gets cracked and pirates usually get to play the DRM free version while legit users are left with no choice. However Ubisoft have decided not to include any sort of DRM in Call of Juarez : Bound in Blood, just like they did for Prince of Persia 2008 and a few other recent titles. This is actually a welcome move by Ubisoft at a time when newer, more ridiculous DRM technologies are starting to emerge.

Anyhow the seemingly good gesture of no-DRM hasn’t stopped pirates from leaking the game online. Veteran scene group Razor1911 released a full DVD ISO image of the game a few hours ago on scene topsites. This release has now spread everywhere in the world from BitTorrent trackers to one click hosting services. There is no crack included in this release as there is no requirement for a one. Pirates however will not be able to play online multiplayer which requires a genuine CD-Key/serial.

By the way I’ve seen a lot of people complain about the auto aim feature of Bound in Blood which makes gameplay kinda easy. I thought this feature could be disabled from the game’s options menu – If you go to options—> Controls and in the ‘Configuration’ choose XBOX360 controller, you’ll see the option to disable auto aim. This however does not seem to have any effect in a Keyboard + Mouse setup.
