Here is a new addition to our TV Trackers section after a while. torrentsRmine (TRM) is a private torrent tracker that specializes in TV serials and documentaries. TRM is a bit different from other TV Trackers such as BitMeTV and Tv.Torrents.Ro - the main focus is given to talk shows (Dr. Phil, Oprah, Ellen, etc) and documentaries (Discovery, Nat Geo, CNN, CNBC, etc) as opposed to drama series such as LOST or 24. Some of the shows on this tracker are actually not found on the top three TV trackers (TVT.com, BMTV, TVT.Ro).

TRM is not exactly a brand new tracker – the site’s got over 1600 members and currently tracks 1000+ torrents. These stats however doesn't do justice to TRM – it’s a decent TV tracker with some rare shows and deserves more publicity.

TRM seems to index both scene and non scene releases. TV Shows are mostly in avi but .mpg and .wmv formats are also allowed on the tracker. In addition to the TV episodes, this TRM also tracks some TV movies such as those exclusively aired on Hallmark. Video quality was great in all of the torrents I downloaded from the tracker. Word of advice.
Stay away from torrent packs that are over 1 GB. If you choose to download those, you are basically making that torrent your first and last one to download from here ever.
Why? You start off with a ratio of ONE (with no upload credit whatsoever), by the time you have completed a download of that torrent pack, your ratio would have fallen below 0.4, in which case, your only way out of this mess is to donate for gigs.
If you choose to do nothing, your account will be banned, and your IP range will be logged and banned.
It is THAT simple.

Most of the time we bring you good news on the BitTorrent front such as the launch of new private trackers or about those with open signups. This time around the news we have is not so good. Docs.Torrents.Ro, one of the best E-Learning torrent trackers around with lots of content and a large following, has closed down – perhaps for ever. The reason for shut down according to site administrators was not legal pressure – no one was threatened with legal action nor were they raided.

So what really caused Docs to close down? As you might know this tracker never asked for donations from its members and nor was it ad supported - Docs was run purely as a hobby. The cause of shut down may be attributed to the site admin not having time or money to continue maintaining the tracker. Just before the site went down, it displayed the following message:

Dear members,
We are sorry to inform you that this tracker will close itself for an undetermined period of time starting from later today.
If you wanted to download something from this tracker, now is the time to do it without worrying about your ratio.

Let's hope the shut down is temporary and Docs will return some day.

Do you frequently use cracks or key generators to illegitimately activate or remove limitations of commercial software? If you do, the name ‘TSRh’ might ring a bell. TSRh or ‘The Sabotage Rebellion hackers’ is a release group in the warez scene which was founded back in 1999. By 2009 the group has cracked as many as 10800+ commercial software. Generally, scene groups like to keep their stuff secret and within the scene. This does not seem to be the case with TEAM TSRh – they maintain their own web site along with few FTP servers that contain thousands of their releases, all publicly accessible.

The official homepage of TSRh is located at http://tsrh.org.ua. This page is updated with any new releases pre’d by the group and it even has an RSS feed for new cracks/keygens. The page also hosts the TSRh release checker which is able to verify if a release is real or fake. Believe it or not, you can actually become a member of TSRh through their homepage. For this you’ll have to prove your skills by solving the ‘TSRh Trial KeygenMe’. The following is quoted from their members page:

What’s even more interesting is that they have got quite a few members who joined in 2009. With the help of these new recruits, TSRh seems to be invading the mobile scene as well as the MAC scene, in addition to their usual PC appz operations.

And now the part most of you will really be interested in – the FTP servers. TSRh have made a large portion of their crack and key generator releases available on several public FTP servers. Thousands of releases pre’d after the year 2003 are freely downloadable from these locations.

We’ve featured lots of dedicated games torrent trackers recently on FILEnetworks Blog including GameAccess (Open), SeedGames (Open) and JuicyBitz (Open). The tracker we are going to talk about it not just another BitTorrent site with games – it’s in fact the only one of its kind we’ve seen so far. GameUpdates is a private tracker for all game related extras – this includes update patches, mods, HD trailers, demos, betas and more. With this tracker around, there is no need to browse several dozen sites and wait in download queues to get mods and patches for your favorite PC games.

As you might already know patches, mods, demos and betas of modern games are quite large in file size. Due to bandwidth restrictions, most sites that allow free direct access to such files either limit the download speed or enforce the user to wait in queues. Some of these tend to get deleted pretty soon too. With technologies such as BitTorrent around, I’ve always wondered why people put up with this BS. This is exactly where GameUpdates.org has nailed it – they are showing the world how effective a distribution medium BitTorrent can be.

Note that GameUpdates is not a public torrent index. They maintain their own private tracker (all members have upload rights enabled) and require users to maintain 1:1 upload to download ratio. It’s not a tiny site either. As of 10/4/2009, GameUpdates tracks over 2200 torrents and maintains an Alexa ranking below 150k - respectable stats for a niche tracker.

Good news for both ATI and NVIDIA graphics card owners – new drivers are here. ATI have released much awaited Catalyst 9.4 (final) drivers and NVIDIA too have released ForceWare 185.68 drivers which are still in beta. Interestingly, ATI’s release consists of an official driver for current pre release builds of Windows 7. ForceWare 185.68 on the other hand is only officially availably for Windows Vista and XP. Both driver releases contain several improvements including various performance and reliability enhancements - upgrading is recommended.

Good news is that these drivers contain optimizations for the recently released Chronicles of Riddick : Assault on Dark Athena. Way to go NVIDIA!

UPDATE: Scene group RELOADED have cracked the SecuROM DRM embedded into the game.
Original Article: Another good looking PC game has leaked on the internet. An untouched DVD Image (CloneDVD) of Company of Heroes : Tales of Valor has been released by veteran scene group AVENGED. This is the latest installment of Relic’s popular RTS series Company of Heroes which saw the light back in 2006. CoH : Tales of Valor is released as an standalone expansion and does not require the main game to run. The game was officially released to the public on the 9th of April and has been leaked on the same day.

COH : Tales of Valor is protected by Sony’s SecuROM DRM (with no online activation).  The protection seems to get bypassed when AVENGED image is used in conjunction with emulation software. However a valid CE Key or serial may be required to access some parts of the game such as online multiplayer. AVENGED release has now made its way into the public, including onto private torrent trackers:

AVENGED are not a group known for cracking anti piracy protections or DRM on PC games. Their specialty is clones, or untouched DVD images of original game. Even though a crack is not included with CloneDVDs, pirates are usually able to play the game by emulating the protection using tools such as Daemon Tools Pro (works with some copy protections only).

UPDATE 2: More info on DRM. It looks like this game is protected by TAGES + Internet Activation + Solidshield, a very new version of that too. GOW NFO does not specify this. A little worrying news for pirates because this protection is considered extremely hard to crack (several previous TAGES titles have been cracked, though. See second comment for this article by LST for specific cases).

UPDATE: [NUKED] not.cracked_activation.issues.still.occur. Also, there seems to be some kind of DRM present so we stand corrected.

Original Article: Actually the title of this post is a little misleading - there is no anti piracy protection embedded in this game to actually crack. But yes, the latest title in the famed Chronicles of Riddick series has been leaked on the internet, right on the game's official North American release date.

Surprisingly, Chronicles of Riddick : Assault on Dark Athena comes with no embedded DRM software which is a rare occurrence with PC games these days (EDIT: See UPDATE 1 and 2 below). The game's sole defence against piracy is the old school serial key protection, through which scene group GOW apparently got through pretty easily.

GOW's release which is around 7GB in file size includes a full DVD ISO of the game as well as a CD Key. Since there is no online activation or validation, a single serial will suffice for an unlimited number of pirates - however they will be royally screwed if they tried to use the multilayer component. Like all scene releases, GOW's release has now made its way into 'the wild'. It's now leaked to private trackers, public BitTorrent sites, public FTP dumps, one click hosting sites and pretty much anywhere else warez is hosted/tracked/linked. Anyways the contact E-mail address mentioned in GOW's NFO is interesting. It's the first time I've seen a scene group use a Gmail address.

Speaking of the game, I think this one is going to be a big hit in 2009 (the series's previous title (Escape from Butcher's Bay) too was a blast back when it was released. Developers seem to have done lots of thing right (including the decision to go DRM free) here so if you can buy it, go ahead and show some support.

Great news if you are a fan of Asian movies – AvistaZ is having open signups once again. AvistaZ is a private BitTorrent tracker specializing in movies, music and TV Shows from Asian countries such as Korea, Hong Kong, China, Japan, India and Thailand. Majority of the content uploaded to this tracker comprise of movies – Lots of action movies, martial arts and kung–fu flicks are freely downloadable from AvistaZ. If you are not from an Asian country and wondering about language barriers, have no fear. Most movies on AvistaZ come with English subtitles.

AvistaZ is by no means a small private tracker – there are well over 100000 members (113800+ to be exact, as of 8/4/2009) and over 7500 active torrents. One of the best things about this site is that it has an excellent community. For example, there are AvistaZ members who themselves create English subtitles for rare (or less popular) movies and share them with other users.

Speaking of the content on this tracker, it’s primarily movies – lots and lots of movies from many different countries in the Asian region. Refer to the following screenshot to get a better idea on the content

It’s worth mentioning that video and sound quality of all movies I’ve so far downloaded from AvistaZ have been perfect. There are lots of DVDRips with 700MB and 1.4GB sizes which are pretty small and easy to download (as opposed to Asian DVD Club – a similar tracker which has untouched DVD-R movies (Signups Open)).

There used to be a time AvistaZ continuously had open signups. However public registrations had been closed for the past two or so months due to server limitations. Good news is that they’ve opened signups again. If you were thinking of getting into this site, now is your chance.
