Last month was a good one for BitTorrent downloaders who are fans of Wrestling. Lots of good Wrestling/MMA trackers opened public registrations and most of these were featured on FILEnetworks Blog. Here is some even more good news for Wrestling torrent fans – World Wrestling Torrents (WWT) is a new private torrent tracker specializing in wrestling content. It is the first dedicated wrestling tracker based on the new Gazelle codebase.

There are no heavy customizations done to the Gazelle script utilized – the layout of WWT is basically the same as the layout of an out of the box Gazelle tracker. Either way WWT has a strong user base of around 4000 members which is good when it comes to a relatively new niche tracker. However the number of indexed torrents is not so impressive – currently there are only around 60 torrents online. IMHO they need to focus on adding more torrents to the tracker as the torrent count has been going up pretty slowly over the past few weeks.

As for the content on WWT, it tracks both scene and non scene content related to Wrestling (see full torrent category list towards the end of article). Among the torrents indexed are some packs which are worth checking out:

Scene group SKIDROW have managed to released a working copy of  Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X. right on the game’s official North American release date. One of the more interesting things about this release is that H.A.W.X does not come with any sort of DRM or other copy protection measures embedded. This has perhaps made things easier for SKIDROW, a group that usually releases low budget PC titles (mind you they topped game scene charts in January 2009).

This is the third major PC title by UBISOFT to be released without anti piracy measures in the past few months (first two being Prince of Persia (2008) and Tom Clancy’s Endwar). Anyway the game has leaked all the same with SKIDROW releasing a full DVD ISO (6.1GB) which can be used by pirates to play the game. SKIDROW’s release has already made its way onto private torrent trackers-

H.A.W.X. (High Altitude Warfare eXperimental squadron) is an interesting looking title which focuses on aerial combat – something we haven’t seen before in a Tom Clancy game. The game has so far scored a respectable aggregate review score of 76% on GameRankings.

The Monkey Kingdom is a private torrent tracker that specializes in Motorsports events such as Formula 1, Superbike, Nascar, MotoGP, WRC, A1 GP (Grand Prix), GP2, drag racing, off road racing, street racing, drifting, Indycar and so on.

Although you may have never heard about this site before, Monkey Kingdom is not one of those lifeless trackers without any activity. It has over 3000 members and tracks over 4000 active torrents. Content on this site include videos of free practice, full races, qualifying rounds, highlights, etc related to a number of difference racing events and genres (see categories below for more information). After group RELOADED cracked and released the standalone expansion for Red Alert 3 (Red Alert 3 : Uprising) yesterday, Dox division of Razor1911 have today come up with a trainer for the game. This trainer has four options (PLUS 4) : Unlimited energy, a credits hack to add 10k credits, max threat meter and add a security point. This is the second trainer released by RazorDox in recent times, previous one being a money trainer for Empire : Total War.

How to use the trainer:

4. Press any of the following key combinations for corresponding effect:

I was going to post about a new software release but just noticed that two good private trackers were open for signup. Arabfilms which is an Arabic movie torrent tracker as well as ElbitZ, an English E-Learning tracker are both open for public registrations as of now. ElbitZ usually opens its doors to the public about once a month. On the contrary, Arabfilms rarely has open signups - you have to pay for VIP membership to get in when its closed.

Both sites are open for signup as of 16/3/2009. Get in ASAP because they could close anytime.

On one of my machines I use an ADSL USB modem instead of a router. Unlike a router, this modem uses a dial up connection to connect to the internet – it does not automatically connect to the net when the system is booted up and nor does it automatically reconnect if the line is dropped. For those who are used to (or prefer) automated connection/re-connection, this can be pretty painful. This article tells you how to configure your dial up connection to auto connect at startup & to auto redial upon disconnection.

How to configure your ADSL modem to automatically connect at startup

For this to work, you need to have your dial up connection set up and username, password and phone number saved on the connection.

On Windows XP:

1. Open Control Panel and open Network Connections
2. Dial up and LAN connections you have created on your machine will be listed. Find the dial up connection you want to auto dial on startup, right click it and select properties.
3. Open the ‘Options’ tab. Uncheck the checkbox that says ‘Prompt for name, password, certificate, etc”. Also uncheck the ‘Prompt for phone number’ checkbox.
4. Press ok to close the options dialog.
5. Back in the Network Connections window, right click the dial up connection you just modified and click ‘create a shortcut’. Allow the shortcut to be placed on desktop as per the warning message.
6. Cut the shortcut from the desktop and paste it in your Start Menu—>Startup folder.

On Windows Vista

1. Open control panel and open Network and sharing center
2. From the list of options on the left panel, choose ‘manage network connections’. Dial up and LAN connections you have created on your machine will be listed. Find the dial up connection you want to auto dial on startup, right click it and select properties.
3. Steps 3 and onwards are the same for both Windows XP and Vista (follow instructions for XP method above)

How to configure your dial up connection to automatically redial if disconnected

On Windows XP

1. Open Control Panel and open Network Connections
2. Dial up and LAN connections you have created on your machine will be listed. Find the dial up connection you want to auto dial on startup, right click it and select properties.
3. Open the ‘Options’ tab. Under redial options, set the number of redial attempts to a number greater than 0 (something like 3 or 5 will do)
4. Set time between redial attempts to 30 seconds (some modems take some time to re-initialize after disconnection)
5. Check the ‘Redial if line is dropped’ check box and click ok to save and close the dialog box.
6. OPTIONAL: You may want to change your power saver settings so that the PC never auto switches to standby mode. Sometimes the computer go on standby before dial up networking can establish a new connection (if line dropped during an idle period).

On Windows Vista

1. Open control panel and open Network and sharing center
2. From the list of options on the left panel, choose ‘manage network connections’. Dial up and LAN connections you have created on your machine will be listed. Find the dial up connection you want to auto dial on startup, right click it and select properties.
3. Steps 3 and onwards are the same for both Windows XP and Vista (follow instructions for XP method above)

About three days ago we reported how the General/0Day private torrent tracker FunFile went offline without notice. Initially it was speculated that the tracker had run out of donations and but we were later informed that it was a RAID failure which brought the site down (as with any thread about FunFile, there was a quite a lot of drama involved - read the comments). We promised in our previous article to update on any new developments with this tracker – good news is that the site is back online.

There is a long notice about the downtime posted on the FunFile homepage – first part of it is quoted below:

As you are no doubt aware we are now back online, It was about 12AM and I got a notice that FunFile had suffered an unknown failure. Long story short we called SoftLayer and determined that the RAID controller for the box had 'broken' and couldn't see half the devices on the array. After spending half the day trying to recover the data from the array, we wrote it off as a lost cause since repairing the inodes one at a time would have taken literally days of mind numbing work.

Attemping to find the Silver Lining we decided to use this as a chance to rework FunFiles hardware and streamline it as much as possible, as well as trying to get as much speed as possible to reduce load times ect...
Result:
2x Intel Quad Core @ 2.66GHz
8GB ECC DDR2 RAM
4x Intel 64G SSD in RAID

If you don’t know what it is, iFi is another of those secret trackers with a fake login page, rules against public mention of URL, giveaways & trades, etc. News is that both the site and the BitTorrent tracker will close down for an indefinite period of time pending maintenance. Earlier there was an attempt by iFi staff to migrate to the Gazelle codebase but this did not prove to be successful. From what we know, the goal of downtime is not to move to Gazelle but to further improve the layout and site functions.

Quoted below is a notice sent by iFi staff regarding the upcoming downtime:

As mentioned earlier iFi is a ‘secret’ tracker with a very small community of less than 1000 members. It’s a general/0day tracker with mostly scene releases (which can also be found on most other general trackers as well). One of the positives about iFi is that they have a nice looking layout. Apart from that I really feel it could do with some more leecher/seeder activity as well more indexed torrents.
