Something’s up with Google. Right now every Google search result contains “This site may harm your computer” malware warning beneath it. See screenshot below:

The above screenshot displays search results for keyword ‘Google’. As you can see each and every result is labeled as “This site may harm your computer’. When you click on a search result to visit the page, a detailed warning message appears. Must be a glitch on big G’s end. By the way FireFox 3 Safe Browsing which obtains attack site data from the same service as Google (stopbadware.org) does not display  warnings for any of the legitimate sites.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the first final build of LimeWire 5 series products. LimeWire is a java based p2p client which can be used to connect to Gnutella network. Version 5 comes with new features such as firewall to firewall transfer, faster connections using UDP host caches, UPnP support, ‘What’s New’ search, proxy support, iTunes integration, safe searching and more.

One of the best additions in LimeWire 5 is the safe searching feature. This has dramatically reduced the number of virus infected search results which were a real pain in the ass in earlier builds. LimeWire also includes limited BitTorrent support but don’t ever use it to download from private trackers. Why? LimeWire is a banned client on most private torrent trackers – use something like uTorrent or Vuze for BitTorrent and keep LimeWire only to swap files on Gnutella.

First of all we are late on this update – news about FunFile open signup was first posted by one of our readers in this thread on the 29th. FunFile is a general/0day tracker which has been around for roughly 2 years. It tracks both scene and p2p releases including movies, music, games ,TV Shows. FunFile, usually closed to the public, has opened registrations since January 29th in celebration of one of the admins birthday.

FunFile is quite a large private BitTorrent tracker with over 25000 users. At the time this post is being written, it tracks close to 11300 torrents. Apart from usual scene and p2p releases, Funfile has a lot of unique packs. These can be identified with ‘FunFile’ and ‘FF’ tags at the end of torrent title name. They also have an entire category dedicated to Poratable applications but this section only had around 30 torrents at last check.

  

There is a notice posted on FunFile homepage about the current open registration period (note that this was posted on the 29th of January)

In celebration of my birthday, FunFile will have open registration for membership. Open registration will begin asap and will end without notice . Feel free to contact all your friends and let them know.

Background information:

There has been a lot of controversies surrounding Funfile - specially regarding the tracker’s donations. Additionally several coders, staff and uploaders have left the site due to internal conflicts and have founded their own BitTorrent trackers. Such spinoff sites range from well established trackers such as Pretome (PTM – founded by ex-funfile coders – get registration key here) to relatively new sites such as SceneRace (Open).

Yahoo! have released a new build of Yahoo! Messenger IM client and here are the official direct download links for the full, standalone, offline installer of this build. Yahoo’s official download page provides an annoying web setup – a small installer is downloaded to your computer first and the rest of the setup files are downloaded over the web via this installer. Not the most user friendly way if you ask me.

Since I haven’t seen an official changelong for Yahoo! Messenger 9.0.0.2124 yet, I cannot comment on the new features or security fixes included in this build. It is however recommended that you update to the latest version available in order to minimize security risks and experience optimal performance of the application.

Fallout 3 was definitely one of the top games to be released back in 2008. A few months after the game’s release, Bethesda have released the first Downloadable Content (DLC) for the game; an add on titled ‘Operation Anchorage’. Just a day after Operation Anchorage’s official release date, pirates have managed to leak the game on BitTorrent.

The game was initially released by SKIDROW, a scene group which is famous of releasing small and low budget PC titles. SKIDROW’s release has leaked from scene topsites to private torrent trackers, one click hosting sites and so on. Anchorage addon is protected by both Windows Live protection as well as activation. SKIDROW’s release combined with a DRM cracked Fallout 3, however seems to bypass both.

Fallout 3 : Operation Anchorage requires the original Fallout 3 to run. To be more specific, you need to have v1.1 patch installed as well - for pirates this would the the cracked v.1.1 patch released by Razor1911. If you get a distress call from ‘the brotherhood’ after around 10-15 minutes of Fallout 3 gameplay, that means you’ve installed the add-on correctly (applies to both pirated and legitimate versions of the game).

Here is another update on private torrent trackers. As we revealed yesterday, the popular specialized TV torrents tracker TV.Torrents.Ro has returned (with open signups). It seems that they have changed their web host - hopefully there won’t be another downtime in the near future. It’s been a while since we had a collective open signup update so here goes. Torrentbits, Bakedbits and Filebits are all currently open for public registrations. Although they have similar names all ending with ‘bits’, these are not sister trackers. Torrentbits is a Romanian tracker, Filebits is a Slovenian tracker and Bakedbits is a new tracker which aims to replace the now defunct BitNation.

All three are general/0day trackers which index scene and p2p releases. Signups are open as of 30/1/2009. Note that Torrentbits is known to close/open signups at regular intervals.

Usually we don’t feature individual music album downloads here on FILEnetworks Blog but this is no ordinary music album. ‘The Mighty Pirate Sessions - Volume 1’ includes several chipmusic tracks that were created entirely using the sound chip of an older ATARI game console. What’s even more interesting is that these tracks were used by various scene groups (including the infamous Razor1911) in their cracktros (crack intros), keygens, etc back in the mid 1990’s.

The Mighty Pirate Sessions Vol. 1 is composed by Dubmood, a cross genre Swedish chipmusician. Over the years Dubmood has been working with many scene groups, specially with Razor1911 which is one of the oldest groups in the warez scene (he even has a page in Razor1911 demo division domain). For the short time it’s has been online, SceneFeed sure has undergone a lot of changes. SceneFeed started out as a General/0Day tracker which did not specialize in any niche category. It was then shut down by admins who wanted to pool more resources to TorrentVault, their sister site – SceneFeed however came back online after a short downtime. Now, SceneFeed is no longer a General tracker – it’s become a specialized TV torrent tracker which tracks season packs and episodes of popular US/Canadian TV shows.

Dark Sector is a 3rd person shooter which was initially released for the consoles back in 2008. The PC version of Dark Sector was released on the 22nd of January in Russia and the game has now leaked on BitTorrent. The leaked release by NoGrp (independent p2p release) appears to be a Russian version of the game which has optional English audio. The release includes a full DVD ISO of the game as well as tools to emulate the Starforce anti piracy system.

Unlike most releases, Dark Sector does not include a cracked exe. However an anti StarForce driver which can bypass the protection in included (this driver is known to have problems with 64-bit operating systems). Since the leaked release is a Russian version of the game, every installation will have Russian audio, voices and text by default. Audio language however is easily changeable:

How to change game language from Russian to English in Dark Sector 

1. Install the game
2. Browse to the game’s installation folder.
3. Open DS.cfg file. Open this file with a text editor.
4. Locate the line App.Language=ru. Change this to App.Language=en and save the file.
5. Now the audio will be english but in game text will still be Russian.
   The method above works both on legitimate and pirated copies of Dark Sector.

Although Dark Sector is not a hugely popular game, I’ve seen a lot of positive comments of it on various gaming forums. There are no reviews of the PC version yet on Gamerankings but the PS3 and XBOX360 versions of the game have received  decent scores of 72% and 73% respectively.

Dark Sector was initially leaked on P2P networks (non scene). Already there are several public and private torrent trackers tracking this release.
