Out of the several thousands private BitTorrent trackers out there, very few specialize in niches such as lifestyle content. The Place.bz is one such private tracker. From Food, Drinking and Cooking to Magic Illusions, this tracker has a wide array of content including videos, e-books and audio files related to day to day human life (See categories for more information). The only other private tracker that I know of which specializes in the same niche is BitSeduce (which is closed at time of this post).

Although the content it tracks it may be rare, ThePlace.BZ is by no means a small tracker. It currently tracks over 11000 torrents and has a user base in excess of 15000; these stats are excellent, specially considering the fact that The Place is a private site. The site is currently in open signup mode which means new members can register without invite codes or any other restrictions. Check it out.

Portable PeerGuardian 2.0 Beta 6b Download

Posted by TEAM FILEnetworks | 10/31/2008 | | 0 Comments »

If you are a heavy BitTorrent (or any other P2P protocol) user, you probably already know about Peerguardian. It’s a program capable of blocking incoming/outgoing p2p traffic, based on an IP block list. Peerguardian protects you from the prying eyes of anti-piracy companies, advertisements, troublesome IP ranges, spyware and so on. What’s special about the Peerguardian2 version featured in this post is that it’s portable. You will be able to carry this version around with you wherever you go and run it whenever you want, with no repeated installations or configurations at all.

peerguardian

Developer Description

PeerGuardian is an IP blocker that integrates support for multiple lists, list editing, automatic updates, and blocking all of IPv4 (TCP, UDP, ICMP, etc), making it the safest and easiest way to protect your privacy on P2P. To make sure that the block-list used to block malicious connections is up to date; PeerGuardian uses an on-line block-list Database that is continuously updated on a daily basis - so your privacy will remain safe while swapping files. PeerGuardian is compatible with all TCP/IP based file sharing applications, such as Kazaa, iMesh, LimeWire, eMule, Grokster, uTorrent, Vuze, DC++, Shareaza, and more. In short, PeerGuardian is the must have tool for any file swapper.

Personally I’m not a fan of Anime. But there are a lot of people who are and I hope this post will be of use to them. AnimeBits.org is a new private torrent tracker specializing in Anime content. It has a cleaner interface than most other Anime trackers that I know of and has a lot of torrents on free leech. Speaking of torrents, there are already around 175 torrents on the tracker and there seems to be a steady flow of new torrents as well.

The site is currently open for signup. Check it out if you like Anime content.

Here is your chance to obtain a free invite to popular private torrent tracker Cinematik (http://cinematik.net – Sister site of Asian DVD Club). Cinematik tracks around 10000 classic movies (including a number of hard to find foreign movies), most of which are very rare and not found on other trackers. As you may have already noticed, Cinematik does not have frequent open signups so the only way in right now is via an invite. Here is the good news : Cinematik is giving away 25 invites to FILEnetworks Blog readers, for FREE.

You only need to post your E-mail address as a comment to this article and the first 25 to post will receive a free invitation to join Cinematic. Note that the invitations are given away by Cinematik administrators themselves so there is no reason to worry about the legitimacy of your account.

cinematik-logo

Here is a brief description about Cinematik:

"Our mission is to provide cinephiles of classic, independent, rare and outlandish films a friendly location to discuss and share their own interests with current members of this ever-growing community."

We are a ratio-based tracker. It's a purely DVDR (DVD5/DVD9, PAL+NTSC) community, with a lot of rare releases. There are a lot of quality films as far as as classic, cult, foreign and indie go. Once you join you will soon get a feel for what is and isn't allowed on the site by browsing through it.

We do carry a lot of films that were big hits in their day, but you won't find the latest blockbuster flicks here.

We're part of the Golden bandwagon, thanks to our lovely bastard-sister-site AsianDVDClub, with a freeleech Movie of the Week and usually at least a dozen other torrents, picked by staff or suggested by members rotated semi-weekly. All the largest torrents have Silver status - usually big box sets - which is that only 1/2 the downloaded stats are counted.

Go ahead and post your E-Mail address as a comment if you want to obtain a Cinematik invite. This thread will be monitored by Cinematik administrators and you will receive your invitation to the E-mail address you post here. If you manage to get in, please respect the site’s rules and try to be an active member there.

Note: Please use the following format when posting your E-mail address: Ex- filenetworks[at]gmail[dot]com This is to prevent spam bots from automatically harvesting your mail address.

Invitations are not unlimited – only 25 invites will be given away on a first come, first served basis.

Two days ago we reported about Fallout 3, the latest installment to the hugely popular Fallout series. I only had little time to play the game so far but it looks like Bethesda have worked their magic once more. Anyway quite a few people seem to be having trouble getting the game to run. Many have reported that Fallout 3 crashes to desktop right after the start screen. If you encounter similar problems, you can try the following method and hopefully it will help you get the game up and running.

Fallout 3 does seem to have a conflict with FFDShow codecs. You have to either uninstall them from your system or add fallout3.exe to FFDShow audio and video decoders exceptions list. Although you may not know it, FFDShow codecs may be present on your system if you have installed codec packs such as CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack).

How to add Fallout 3 to FFDShow decoder exceptions list

1. Launch the ffdshow video decoder configuration window. You may access this through the start menu. If you have installed any codec packs, check the start menu entries of those. If you can’t find it on the start menu, right click the ffdshow video decoder (red) icon that appears on the taskbar when a supported video file is playing, and select ‘ffdshow video decoder’ option from the menu. ffdshow_icon

2. Tick the ‘Dont use ffdshow in’ checkbox if not already checked

3. Press the edit button that is next to the text field. A new dialog box will pop up. Press the Add button. The ‘Add incompatible executable file’ dialog box will be displayed. Browse to the Fallout 3 installation directory and locate fallout3.exe file. Select it and press open. Close all dialog boxes currently open by pressing ok.
(OR you can simply type fallout3.exe at the end of the text field next to ‘Dont use ffdshow in’ checkbox)

4.  Repeat steps 2-3 in ffdshow audio decoder configuration (the blue icon in taskbar) window as well. It is important that you add fallout3.exe to both ffdshow audio and video decoder’s expections list.

Hopefully the above method solved the fallout 3 crash to desktop problem for you. If the problem persists, try updating your video drivers. I’ve heard that nVIDIA’s ForceWare v180.42 and v180.43 beta drives run well with this game.

We bring you news of two fairly new private torrent trackers with open signups. Scenemovies and Wunza.ws are dedicated movie trackers based on the new Gazelle codebase. Both have made some rapid progress since we first reported about them a while back so here is a little update on these trackers.

scenemovies-logo

Site Name: Scenemovies

Signup URL: http://www.scenemovies.org/register.php

Description: Although only a few weeks old, Scenemovies has progressed from a fairly unknown private tracker to a well recognized movie tracker. The site now has a user base of over 3000 members and tracks 1200 torrents which include 1095 movies. Scenemovies allows user uploads and this is definitely one of the factors behind the success of the tracker; This tracker has some great non scene rips and is well worth checking out. Scenemovies will be open for new signups till 2nd of November and all Horror/Thriller movies will be on freeleech till this date as well. For more information on this tracker, read our previous post about scenemovies.

wunza-logo

Site Name: Wunza.WS

Signup URL: http://wunza.ws/register.php

Description: Wunza is another promising dedicated movie tracker that is fairly new to the Bittorrent scene. More than 1000 new users have signed up at Wunza in the past two weeks alone. There is some work to be done in the torrents section and currently only around 100 torrents are online. But this number is gradually increasing and don’t forget that Wunza is a brand new tracker. The site is currently open for new signups and all torrents are on freeleech at time of this post. For more information on this tracker, read our previous post about wunza.ws.

Don’t forget that both these trackers run on Gazelle which means faster navigation, smooth, informative and customizable user interface. We are also keeping an eye on Tehconnection. They will migrate to Gazelle anytime now and trust us when we say this;  you wouldn’t want to miss that. (If you keep reading FILEnetworks Blog, you would NOT miss that :P )

RELOADED, a veteran group in the warez scene, has done it again. They’ve cracked the DRM in a 2008 EA game for what seems like the billionth time. RELOADED have released a full DVD image of Command & Conquer : Red Alert 3 along with a modified exe that has the SecuROM protection removed. In RELOADED’s release NFO the protection Red Alert 3 uses is listed as Securom+PA+DFE+SDK+ Custom. It would not be wrong to say that the scene (and DarkC0der) is currently raping SecuROM. It did not take RELOADED more than a few hours to crack the DRM after the Clone DVD was leaked. Even scene group SKIDROW who usually release low budget games pre’d their own version of Red Alert 3 (With DRM cracked of course) moments after RELOADED’s release. Not good news for SecuROM devs.

Speaking of the game, Red Alert 3 is of course a highly anticipated title given the popularity of the previous two installments. I have not had a chance to play this game yet but the reviews look positive. This game has a aggregated score of 84% on Gamerankings and IGN gave it 8.2 out of 10. Just like the previous two games in the franchise, there seem to be a lot of high quality video content (60mins of HD video as I hear) in the game. Perhaps this explains the large size (for a strategy game that is) of 6.2GB.

CnC-RA3-win-cover

Developer Description

In Red Alert 3, the desperate leadership of a doomed Soviet Union travels back in time to change history and restore the glory of Mother Russia. The time travel mission goes awry, creating an alternate timeline where technology has followed an entirely different evolution, a new superpower has been thrust on to the world stage, and World War III is raging. The Empire of the Rising Sun has risen in the East, making World War III a three-way struggle between the Soviets, the Allies, and the Empire with armies fielding wacky and wonderful weapons and technologies like Tesla coils, heavily armed War Blimps, teleportation, armored bears, intelligent dolphins, floating island fortresses, and transforming tanks.

Full DVD images (aka Clone DVD) of EA’s upcoming Real Time Strategy (RTS) game Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 have leaked to several BitTorrent trackers. The leaked image (which is around 6.6GB in size) seem to have support for two languages; English and Chinese. There are several other versions floating around in a well known warez forum as well.  As we said before these images seem to be untouched copies of the game and no modified exe (aka crack) is provided. Pirates who download the clone will not be able to play the game as it is protected by SecuROM DRM.

CnC-RA3-win-cover

The SecuROM DRM however will not hold off pirates forever. EA has embedded SecuROM 7.1 in all of their recent PC titles and every single one of them was cracked either by a group from the warez scene such as RELOADED or by non scene individuals such as Darkc0der. As it stands now it will only be a matter of time a modified exe (that has the SecuROM protection removed) will be released for the game.

According to comments on most gaming forums, it was not only pirates who used these fixed exes for previous EA titles such as Spore. Even those who owned legitimate copies of the game seemed to prefer cracked exes over SecuROM protected files. EA’s decision to embed restrictive DRM into their PC titles perhaps caused more bad than good and it will be interesting to see their next move..
