A DVD image of highly anticipated Fallout 3 has leaked to internet about a day before the game’s official North American release date. The image, which weighs around 5.5GB, has already made its way to an extremely popular semi-private BitTorrent tracker and will most likely spread to other trackers as well as to one click hosting sites across the world. As with most Clone DVDs, this release does not include a modified exe with copy protection removed (aka crack) but does include a seemingly untouched image of the game DVD.

Although Bethseda hinted that the game will be DRM free, it does not appear that way. SecuROM DRM seems to be bundled with the install process of the game (which is similar to that of Oblivion’s) but in a much less intrusive scale than other DRM enabled games such as Spore or Mass Effect. Perhaps Bethseda had a change of heart when the XBOX360 version of Fallout 3 leaked around two weeks before the release date :p

The inclusion of DRM however means that pirates who download the Clone DVD will not be able to play the game unless a scene group such as RZR, RLD, VTY or an individual such as DarkC0der releases a fix that removes the protection.

Suddenly remembered this when I posted the last movie release a while ago. This post will mostly apply to those who use public BitTorrent trackers to download movies. As you may have already found out, public bittorrent trackers are full of fakes and mislabeled releases (I.e. – On the title it says DVDRip but it turns out to be a crappy CAM). So how can you check the quality of a movie before you actually download it?

First (of course most of you already know this), you can look for the sample.avi file which is included in most scene releases. This is a small file (10-15MB file size) which contains a video sample of the movie being downloaded. You can give high priority to this file using you BT client, download it and watch the quality before you download the entire movie.

But what if the release does not contain a sample.avi file? It’s simple; you can check for screen caps of the release on VCD Quality. 

VCD Quality is a site which indexes latest movie leases both by scene groups and p2p groups. Not only does it index the latest releases but also includes the release .NFO, screen captures from the release (JPG button next to a release name), any nuke information (yellow biohazard icon next to a release name), user comments and user ratings on video, audio and movie itself. As a bonus VCD Quality lists generated search strings you can use to search for movie subtitles (from opensubtitles.org), CD/DVD covers (from cdcovers.cc) and IMDB links for movie ratings and movie trailers as well. As you can see it gives you a lot of information on the movie and the release not available on most public torrent sites so check it out.

An R5 rip of popular movie Burn After Reading has leaked to internet. Veteran scene group PUKKA is behind the leak. PUKKA have obtained the video source from an R5 (DVD for region 5), and replaced the Russian audio with an English audio stream from previous TS release. The rip is a standard 1CD (700MB) rip and you can see screens and other information from this link.

I have not watch this movie yet but it has a star studded cast including Brad Pitt and George Clooney. The movie has a decent score of 7.8 on IMDB. 

Burn After Reading is a 2008 black comedy film written, produced and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. The film stars John Malkovich, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand and Brad Pitt. It was released in the USA on September 12, 2008 and it was released on October 17, 2008 in the UK. The R-rated film had its premiere on August 27, 2008 when it opened the 2008 Venice Film Festival. The film is the brothers' first to follow their Academy Award winning Best Picture, No Country for Old Men.

Ace Torrents (AceT), a good private torrent tracker for general content, is currently open for signup. Usually you need an invite to get into this tracker but you may join without one in open signup periods such as this (which will not last forever btw). Ace Torrents currently tracks a little over 4000 torrents ( Software, Games, Movies, Ebooks, etc – scene releases as well as non scene releases) and has a user base of around 4200 members. Pre times on this tracker seem to be pretty good.

Version 7.1.7 of jetAudio (aka Cowon Media Center) was released only recently and we already have a new build. V7.1.8 apparently fixes several minor problems such as disc did not starting playback when using Play Disc button, wrong skin file being inserted, etc.  The PLUS VX version of the player (featured in this post) offers several new features over the basic version such as UUE and UUE VIVA audio enhancement packs.

Darkc0der has done it again. Another major SecuROM protected title cracked by this non scene ‘one man cracking powerhouse’. Darkc0der has released a modified paul.dll file for EA’s Dead Space, which has the SecuROM DRM removed. Using the fixed dll allows legitimate players and pirates alike to play the game without online activation and get rid of any other DRM limitations. Apparently Darkc0der’s fix works with the previously leaked Clone DVD release as well. The following lines are quoted from the .NFO:

"Darkc0der: Gladly I was faster than razor1911 this time."

Indeed he was.
