I know a lot of you folks were waiting for this release. After 5 betas, the final version of WinRAR 3.80 is here. This is somewhat of a major upgrade over existing 3.71 version and incorporates a number of bug fixes as well as several new and improved features such as decompression support for WinZip AES encrypted ZIP files and Improved Unicode support for RAR and ZIP archive names (For a full list of changes in 3.80, please refer the changelog).

Developer Description

WinRAR is a 32-bit Windows version of RAR Archiver, an archiver and archive manager. RAR files can usually compress content by 8 percent to 15 percent more than ZIP files can. WinRAR's main features include strong general and multimedia compression, the ability to process non-RAR archive formats, ZIP compression and decompression, support for long filenames, programmable self-extracting archives (SFX), repair of damaged archives, authenticity verification, embedded file comments, and encryption. Unicode is supported in archive filenames, allowing non-English filenames to be handled painlessly. You can manipulate the parameters of many archives at once and view a volume sequence as a single archive. WinRAR can convert other archive formats to RAR and search for specified text and files in archives.

Version 3.80 adds decompression support for AES-encrypted ZIP files, improved display information, more context-menu options, and a more secure method of deleting temporary files.

Major Features

• Complete support for RAR and ZIP archives, and unpacking of ARJ, LZH, TAR, GZ, ACE, UUE, BZ2, JAR, ISO, 7z and Z archives. Future versions of WinRAR are planned to include 7z creation.
• The ability to create self-extracting and multi-volume (split) archives.
• Data redundancy is provided via recovery records and recovery volumes, even allowing reconstruction of damaged archives.
• Support for advanced NTFS file system options and Unicode in file names.
• Optional archive encryption using AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) with a 128-bit key.

This should not have come as a surprise for you if you were a regular member of Blackcats-Games (BCG). If you logged onto Blackcats today, you would see a fake page instead of the familiar login page. Don’t worry, it’s not shut down or anything; this was intentional and is done for security reasons and to launch the upcoming referrals feature. Although tracker staff gave much publicity regarding homepage replacement, unique key generation and how to use the key and the fake page to login to the tracker, many users seem to have skipped reading all these (judging by the amount of mail we receive asking what to do with the fake page).

First of all, if you did not generate a key as instructed by many PMs, announcements and forum posts, say good bye to your account. According to site admin the accounts the did not generate a key will be deleted. If you did generate a key earlier, read on.

Here is how to use the fake login page to get access to Blackcats-games:

1. Visit the login page and enter your keyword in the search box.

2. The moment you type in your key word correctly, two boxes, one each for username and password will appear at the bottom of the page.

3. Type in your Blackcats username and password in these boxes and press enter. That’s all.

To login successfully, all three elements should match; your key, username and the password.

A DVDRip of the popular 2008 movies Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has been leaked to internet. Responsible for this leak are DiAMOND, a legendary group in the movie release scene. DiAMOND have been relatively quite for the past few weeks but it seems they chose a popular title to mark their comeback. The release comes as a 2CD (1.38GB) rip and it has DVD quality video and 5.1 AC3 sound. For more details on this release including screen caps, NFO and more, please see this page.

Speaking of the movie, it has a decent 7.0 rating on IMDB. As a fan of the old movies, I would definitely watch this.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is a 2008 adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg and executive produced and co-written by George Lucas. The film pits Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) against agents of the Soviet Union, led by Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett), in the search for a crystal skull. Indy is aided by his former lover Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen), greaser Mutt Williams (Shia LaBeouf), and fellow adventurer George "Mac" McHale (Ray Winstone). John Hurt and Jim Broadbent also play fellow academics.

The film was in development since the 1989 release of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, because Spielberg and Ford disagreed over Lucas' original concept. Screenwriters Jeb Stuart, Jeffrey Boam, Frank Darabont and Jeff Nathanson wrote drafts, before David Koepp's script satisfied all three men. Shooting began on June 18, 2007, and took place in New Mexico; New Haven, Connecticut; Hawaii; Fresno, California; and soundstages in Los Angeles. To keep aesthetic continuity with the previous films, the crew relied on traditional stunt work instead of computer-generated stunt doubles, and cinematographer Janusz Kamiński studied Douglas Slocombe's style from the previous films.

Popular E-Book/E-Learning torrent tracker Docs.Torrents.Ro is currently open for signup. Although we brand it as an E-Learning tracker most of the time, books is not all this site has got. In addition to educational content, Docs.Torrents.Ro indexes documentary video series by channels such as Discovery, History Channel and National Geographic, Sports related docs, Magazines and even stuff on hacking. Although the site is Romanian, 99% of the content (as well as the site interface) is in English so non Romanian users should have no problems here. Universal Extractor is a small but useful tool that allows users to extract files from virtually any type of archive. By ‘archive’ we don’t mean a .Zip or a .RAR archive; In addition to support for several dozen compressed file formats, Universal Extractor can even extract files from compiled setup packages such as Windows Installer packages, FEAD optimizer packages (used by Adobe), Microsoft hotfixes and even Nero Image files. We’ve featured two versions of this program in this post; The Portable version and the regular version. See the ‘Downloads’ section below for download links.

Developer Description

Universal Extractor is a program do to exactly what it says: extract files from any type of archive, whether it's a simple zip file, an installation program, or even a Windows Installer (.msi) package. This is still a work in progress, but so far it's proven quite useful and I feel others can also benefit from it.

I should stress that Universal Extractor is not intended to be a general purpose archiving software. It will never replace WinRAR, 7-Zip, etc. What it will do is allow you to extract files from virtually any type of archive, regardless of source, compression method, etc.
The original motivation behind this project was that I wanted an easy, convenient way to extract files from installation packages, such as Inno Setup or Windows Installer packages, without pulling up a command line every time. In the process I got a little carried away and ended up throwing in support for every kind of archive format I possibly could find.

Torrent Vault is a private torrent tracker with general/0day content. Like most general tracks out there, Torrent Vault indexes both scene and non scene releases including appz, games, music, movies and  TV shows. At time of this post, there are more than 14000 active members on Torrent Vault and it’s tracks tracks more than 3500 torrents.

Apart from usual releases, Torrent Vault tracks some packs of their own. In fact I’ve seen several quite good and rare packs here including some good movie, music, e-book and TV show packs. Be sure you check the Movies/Boxsets and Episodes/TV-Boxset categories as you may find some real gems there.

To identify packs unique to Torrent Vault, look for ‘TV’ and ‘TorrentVault’ tags on torrent title.

Signups for Torrent Vault are currently open so interested readers may join. There is a user cap of 15000 which means there is room for 600+ users but we do not know for sure if the current open signup period will stay open till the site reaches this user limit.
