Few days back we reported how The Pirate Bay were planning to relaunch the bit torrent legend SuprNova.org. The day has finally dawned. SuprNova.org will go live in 4 hours and 12 minutes (at the timewe write this article) and will pick up from where it left off. Currently SuprNova.org homepage displays a countdown timer and a message from the TPB crew who are responsible for the resurrection:

"soon we will return with suprnova.org - the number 1 site in the world for waffle recipes. how do you like yours? with chocolate? syrup? ice cream? maybe plain?! we have all the pictures of waffles you will ever need. and we will have the biggest waffle forum in the world! all for you waffle-people. waffles! WAFFLES!"

At launch stage SuprNova will have:

  • The ability to search 25000 trackers
  • One Million indexed torrents
  • 25 million peers
  • Official forums

Meanwhile the SuprNova team sends yet another message to anti-piracy outfits around the world (Source - Suprnova IRC Channel):

“This is how it works. Whatever you sink, we build back up. Whomever you sue, ten new pirates are recruited. Wherever you go, we are already ahead of you. You are the past and the forgotten, we are the internet and the future.”

BitLet : The BitTorrent Applet

Posted by TEAM FILEnetworks | 8/21/2007 | | 1 Comments »

Has the network administrator of your workplace, campus, college or institution banned bit torrent clients from being installed and run? If so, this post might bring good news for most of you.

BitLet.org hosts a java applet that acts as a bit torrent client. You just need to copy the .torrent file link (the link should directly link to the .torrent file, not to some html page where information about torrent is displayed) into the web page  and press "Download Torrent" and the applet will do the rest. BitLet.org's settings page can be used to change port numbers and set max upload rate if needed. We almost forgot, this baby supports download resuming.

The only downside of this service is that it needs Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to run.  If JRE is not installed, you wont be able to run the applet. You may be able to get the administrator to install JRE by saying you need it for "Educational purposes" or you need it to run "important stuff for an urgent project" (if he's a dumbass he'll fall for it). Anyway good luck with it.

Unlike Gmail, Microsoft's Hotmail does not offer free POP3 access to it's mail server. This means that you cannot use an e-mail client such as Microsoft Outlook and connect to Hotmail (unless you have Windows Live Mail Plus subscription). If you try to do so without a subscription, you will be greeted with the error message "Access to Hotmail via Outlook and Outlook Express now requires a subscription. Please sign up at http://join.msn.com/general/Email"."

Well there is an application that allows you connect to Free version of Hotmail using Outlook 2003 and 2007; Microsoft Outlook Connector. This utility is released by Microsoft itself so you dont need to wonder why it only supports Outlook 2003/2007 clients.

Get Microsoft Outlook Connector: Download Now! (Direct Download)(We've linked to the file directly so genuine validation wont be necessary)

The Bourne Ultimatum DVD Screener

Posted by TEAM FILEnetworks | 8/15/2007 | | 5 Comments »

Team iMBT has done it again. They've released what they call a DVD Screener of the blockbuster movie Bourne Ultimatum. Well to us this looks more like a Workprint, anyway the quality is superb (nearly R5 DVD quality). Check out the screenshots here. There is timer and a universal watermark but these are only minor cons considering the overall quality of the rip.

The Bourne Ultimatum is a 2007 film based loosely on Robert Ludlum's novel of the same name. A sequel to The Bourne Supremacy, it stars Matt Damon reprising his role as Ludlum's signature character, amnesia-suffering CIA assassin Jason Bourne. Julia Stiles, David Strathairn, Scott Glenn, Paddy Considine, Edgar Ramirez, Albert Finney, and Joan Allen co-star. The cast reprises their roles from the previous Bourne movies, with additions such as Strathairn, playing a CIA department head; Paddy Considine as a British journalist; and Edgar Ramirez as a new assassin sent to kill Bourne. The film continues the saga of Jason Bourne after he survives the harrowing Bourne Supremacy car chase in Moscow, Russia, and follows the character as he travels to Paris, London, Madrid, Tangier and New York City to uncover his real identity, while the CIA continues to send assassins after him.

DAMN .NFO Viewer : View .NFO files with ease

Posted by TEAM FILEnetworks | 8/15/2007 | | 1 Comments »

If you've downloaded at least one scene release, you are sure to have come across an .NFO file. Scene groups use .NFO files to relay release info, group info, install notes, serial numbers and ASCII art. If you are a Windows user, double clicking the .NFO file will cause "Windows System Information" to load and display an error message. This is because .NFO files are set to open with MSInfo32 by default. You will be able to see the contents of the .NFO file if you use open with command and load it with any text editor. Well even Notepad works but you will soon see that it blows. DAMN .NFO viewer is a free (as if it matters anyway) utlity which allows you easily view .NFO files in a Windows environment.

Features

  • Hyperlinks / Email addresses autodetection
The viewer automatically detects hyperlinks / email addresses and shows them as clickable shortcuts.
  • Customizable appearance
You can set text/background colors, colors for hyperlinks and hovered hyperlinks, whether or not you want hyperlinks to be underlined, and choose between 3 built-in fonts, available in different sizes.
  • Word Wrap
You can switch between word wrap, character wrap and no wrap.
  • Shell integration
The Viewer can be set as the default application to open files with .nfo and .diz extensions. You get fancy file icons as a bonus.
  • Smart line breaks handling
Unix style line breaks are supported (that is, you won't notice any difference). Moreover, the Viewer correctly displays files with doubled/tripled/etc. (e.g. because of improper multiple Unix<->Windows conversions) line breaks.
  • Unicode support
Unicode version of the program is installed automatically if the operation system supports it. Unicode version provides better support for multilingual user interface.
  • Copy-on-Select
When this feature is on, text gets copied to clipboard automatically after you have finished selecting it (released shift key or left mouse button). After the selected text has been copied, the selected area will flash shortly and the text will get deselected (so for those who thought it's a bug: it is not).
  • Direct Scroll mode
In this mode there's no caret so you can't select text with keyboard, but you can navigate through file contents more easily (like in your browser). Turning it off makes it more like viewing a file in a text editor.
  • Most Recently Viewed nfos list (accessible via menu or Alt+R)
  • Drag&Drop support

How to get it

The installer is a small 265Kb file. It should download in a jiffy.
