Daemon Tools is a disk image emulator for Microsoft Windows that mounts images of DVD and CD media on virtual drives, and is known for supporting a variety of different disk image formats. The program is able to defeat most copy protection schemes such as SafeDisc and SecuROM.

Features

  • Emulate up to 32 virtual drives!
  • DAEMON Tools Pro enables you simultaneously play your favorite game and bring up your route planner written on another CD-ROM, without having to eject and reload any physical discs. The 32 virtual drives ability of DAEMON Tools Pro means you can have the equivalent of 32 CD-ROM Drives in your Home PC all accessible simply and quickly running your Disc image at hundreds times faster than that of a conventional CD-ROM drive. If you need a program or CD it is immediately there - always ready to use!
  • DAEMON Tools Pro at the office: Program discs and many other applications generally require the original Disc to be in the computers CD-ROM drive, this restricts the amount of people in your office who can have access to the same software at the same time without the cost of additional discs, DAEMON Tools Pro virtual drives resolves that problem for you. No more hunting around the offices for that elusive disc you need to run your application, every thing you require is just a click.

MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) and RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) seem to have won a major victory against the file sharing community with TorrentSpy and ISOHunt, both deciding to filter copyrighted content from their search engines. This means that MPAA associated movies and RIAA associated albums will NOT be available in the above mentioned sites. Both sites have stated that they will be using filerights software to automatically filter blocked content. This will definitely be bad news for the vast majority who used to download movies and albums through the above mentioned sites. But is it really all over? We don't think so.

Meanwhile Demonoid.com, which is another reputed and reliable private tracker created by an anonymous Yugoslavian (nicknamed 'Deimos'), has also come under fire. Dutch anti-piracy outfit BREIN has filed a lawsuit against its ISP and Demonoid.com now displays 'hardware crash - offline' message. Although the message indicates hardware problems, it is widely believed that is site is moving to a safe heaven to avoid legal trouble. We can expect the site to be back up within a few days.

TorrentSpy, Demonoid and ISOHunt are not the only bittorrent indexes/trackers out there. But they were among some of the best out there and their change is definitely a big blow for the Bittorrent community. However, there are hundreds of new trackers coming online every month. The largest bit torrent tracker in the world, ThePirateBay, is still online amidst a shitload of lawsuits and legal threats against them. In fact, Brokep from ThePirateBay has flamed filerights.com in his blog and has sworn to keep building sites like TPB and Bay IMG (censor free image sharing site) and to help out some of the newer/smaller trackers.

You can find a comprehensive list of Bit Torrent trackers/indexes here. (in fact the list contains over 250 sites)

Down with MPAA/RIAA and all it's kissass supporters. Go Pirates!

How many times have you been annoyed by some web site which asks you to 'login to read more' ? Here is some good news for you. BugMeNot is an Internet service that provides usernames and passwords to let Internet users bypass mandatory free registration on websites. Started in August 2003 by an anonymous person, it aims to allow Internet users to access websites that have registration walls (for instance, that of The New York Times) without the requirement of compulsory registration. This came in response to the increasing number of websites that request such registration. Many Internet users find this to be an annoyance at best and a potential source of spam e-mail at worst.

Currently BugMeNot has logins for 162679 sites. You can use the service free of charge from this location.

Some cool dude has made an extension for FireFox to make life easier for FireFox users. With the extension installed, you can simply right click a form and gain a username and a password from BugMeNot (provided that BugMeNot datababse has the site indexed).

Download FireFox extension from here.

Download accelerator plus or DAP is a download manager with 130 million users worldwide according to SpeedBit. It has a number of useful features like scheduled download and auto internet disconnection and\or shutting down of computer upon download completion. DAP also provides auto antivirus scanning of downloaded contents by integrating with the antivirus software present in the OS, though this feature may not work properly with some antivirus applications. DAP integrates very well with Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Netscape and Opera. It pops up a small message box by the system tray with 'Open/play' commands upon completion of download. It also has a password manager for websites.

Another useful feature is that one can listen or see the preview of a song or video while download is going on. Thus it saves time and helps to stop redownloading of same content by mistake. DAP also boosts up connection speed. DAP also features a very nice and easy to learn interface.
