I honestly can’t remember the last time TehConnection opened signups. Did they ever have open signups? Well it doesn’t matter, the good news is they have now – doors are now open to movie fanatics around the world. TehConnection (TC) is a specialized movie torrent tracker based on Gazelle codebase. It created a lot of buzz even during its early days since the project was backed by several staff of then legendary SceneTorrents (ScT) tracker. TC has really come a long way since then – today it has established itself as one of the best private movie torrent trackers around. If you are a fan of English (and some foreign) movies, it’s time to create an account – and do hurry since there is no notice about open signups on site which means they could close any time.

Tehconnection Logo

With over 20000 movie torrents and 10000+ registered members, TehConnection is one of the largest private movie torrent communities currently online. The site has almost always been invite only but invitations were obtainable through partnerships with other sites, power user forums and IRC invite channels. As said earlier this is the first open signup to come in several years time. Open registrations coincide with several new features being added to TC, including search by IMDB number, Montages (in list view), a new upload screen and the ability for for users with producer rank to gift upload credit.

As most of you already know, TehConnection is a movie torrent tracker. The site indexes a massive library of over 13000 movies (20000+ torrents) which involves the work of 264,871 actors, 9385 directors and 18277 writers. TC tracks both SD and HD video content and Gazelle does a fine job of bundling these torrents together, making browsing and search less time consuming.

TehConnection Index

Registrations for TehConnection are currently open. However, there is no official word on it from the administration (either on site homepage or on the forums) which means signups could close anytime. If you are a movie fan, this is a tracker you should not miss – go ahead and create an account before the doors close. EDIT: This news was posted on Reddit by GLaDOSDan who is a coder at TC so yeah open signups are official.

It’s not everyday you hear about a private torrent tracker specializing in 3D movies. Of course, there are plenty of dedicated movie trackers out there but as far as we know none of them focus solely on 3D content. Well, there was 3DBluRayISO, a hybrid DDL + Torrent forum specializing in 3D but that too is now defunct. Good news for 3D lovers is that 3D Torrents is a relatively new tracker that focuses only on 3D only content (and by ‘content’ we mostly mean movies). Started in early 2011, 3DT appears to have built a decent membership and is not a ghost town as most of you would expect such a niche tracker to be. They are in the process of expanding user base and signups are currently open.

3D Torrents

To be honest, I was not aware of the existence of this tracker until I came across a Tweet by @tracker_nfo yesterday. So I quite don’t know the backstory of this one but it seems to be pretty popular destination amongst 3D fans judging by seeder numbers and completed downloads. Popular torrents on this tracker have over 100 seeds, which is quite good for a niche torrent site.

As for the content, 3D torrents indexes 3D videos including movies, sports and TV shows. Most of the torrents appear to be non scene releases, some unique to 3DT. Most are in HD while some non true HD videos encoded using XViD are also present. The screenshot below should give you a better idea on what sort of content you can find on this tracker:

3D Torrents Index

Most of you might have noticed that 3DT’s main toolbar has a big ‘How To’ button. It’s basically a tutorial which covers the basics of 3D technology, how to play back 3D movies, supported devices, etc. It’s strongly recommended that you read this section before downloading torrents. This section has all the information you’ll need when it comes to watching/playing back 3D movies and is a good read for both beginners and power users.

Registrations for 3DT are currently open. If you are looking for a good source to download 3D content, check this tracker out.

This is our first update in a week and some of you may have wondered whether we were dead and gone. Nope – we’re still here don’t plan to leave anytime soon. Coming back to torrent news, here’s one for XViD fans out there. BitManiacs is a private torrent tracker specializing in movies, specialty being majority of the video files it tracks encoded using the popular XViD codec. You can find DVDRip, HDRip, BDRip, BRRip, R5, etc here, almost all of these XViD encodes. There will be the occasional x264 encode but don’t expect to find a lot of true HD releases here. Apart from the XViD encodes, BitManiacs sports a decent design with IMDB style browse pages, a karma bonus points system and most importantly is currently open for registrations accepting new members.

BitManiacs Logo

BitManiacs is a relatively new private torrent tracker. As far as statistics go, it currently has 3600 registered members and tracks around 850 active torrents. It doesn’t (yet) have the activity of PTP or PTN but it’s a good start nevertheless.

The 850 or so torrents in BTM are sorted into the following categories; BDRip, BDRip [RO], BLURAY, BLURAY [RO], DVDRip, DVDRip [RO], HD [DVD], HD [RO]. The ones indexed under [RO] cats usually come with Romanian subtitles (yes this is a Romania based tracker). BTM actually has a nice, clean design which is easy to navigate. It also features detailed browse pages you may have seen on trackers such as PTN or Wunza. Check out the screenshot below if you have no idea what we’re talking about – this is how torrents appear on the BMs main index as opposed to the traditional list view:

BitManiacs Index

Registrations for BitManiacs is currently open. Max user limit on site is set to 5000 which leaves around 1400 free slots up for the taking. If you are a fan of XViD encoded movies, check this site out.

Special thanks to BTM staff for the heads up.

Movie fans amongst you would surely have heard of CN. CN was a notable torrent tracker best known for its large movie repository and the unique mafia themed look and feel. Despite successfully being online for more than two years, the site went down in December 2010 much to the disappointment of its loyal members. However, all was not lost – as we reported back in January 2011, CN was resurrected, this time under a different identity; The Black Hand (TBH). Existing CN members were given a chance to recover their accounts and invite applications were open for a brief period back then for potential new users to get in. Since then, CN has been pretty much a closed community. If you missed getting into this movie tracker last time, here’s some good news. CN staff have opened signups as well as invite applications for a limited time, and needless to say now is a very good time to create an account there.

TBH Logo

Back when it went down, CN tracked around 12500 movie torrents of all qualities and sizes. TBH however had to rebuild its torrent index from scratch. During the past 3 months, they’ve done a pretty good job at it too – the site now tracks over 4500 torrents, some of which are HD releases. As for the mafia themed features which made CN so popular, you’d be glad to know that they’ve all returned to TBH.  Listed below are some of the notable highlights currently implemented on The Black Hand:

  • Mafia theme integrated throughout the site and its features.
  • Permanent seeding feature – commit to seeding a torrent for 30, 60 or 90 days and reap the rewards.
  • Mafia operations – pick a particular mafia operation (gambling, prostitution, drugs or smuggling) to venture into and gain bonuses related to your chosen path.
  • Mafia cash – earned simply by seeding, and earned at a greatly increased rate through permanent seeding.
  • Mafia weapons – purchase various weapons and mafia crew members to help advance to higher user classes.
  • Mafia Lifestyle items – purchase all the luxury lifestyle items just like Don Corleone!
  • TBH internal encoding group – SD/x264 and 720p encoders by our experienced team, these releases are all freeleech with and 2x upload counted.
  • Unique torrent browse page – see all the pertinent information regarding a film as well as its poster/cover all on the browse page.
  • Unique torrent description page – complete with movie description, cast, trailer, imdb ratings, directors, writers, and running time.
  • All HD torrents are half-leech all the time
  • Announce shop where you can purchase everything from upload credit right through to 48 hours of triple upload with freeleech for yourself.
  • Mafia themed user class system with activity required in all areas of the site required for advancement – this promotion system encourages users to be involved in all areas of the site and helps keep TBH a tight-knit community.

Even more new and unique features are to be introduced with the upcoming THB v2.0 launch. Speaking of performance, TBH just recently moved to a new host in a new country and now runs on a more powerful server. Recent slowness issues that plagued the site should now be gone for good.

CN Index

The screenshot above shows some of the torrents found on TBH. Just like back in CN days, both HD and non HD releases are indexed here, including 720p/1080p video, BRRip releases, BDRips, DVDR releases and standard XViD encodes. Both scene and P2P uploads are tracked, including releases by internal TBH group.

How to get into The Black Hand

In case you still aren’t a member of TBH and want to get in, now would be a good time to do so - Registrations will be open for a limited time and this is TBH’s first proper open signup. Readers who miss the open signup window may still be able to get in through the online invite applications (which will be online once signups close).

Special thanks to paradox8 and rest of TBH staff for the excellent support given.

Still not part of a dedicated movie torrent tracker? Here’s a site that you can join; The Swarm is a private torrent tracker specializing in movies and movies only. This Gazelle powered site has opened registrations for a limited time after being closed for several weeks. TheSwarm is a relatively new private community that’s shown a lot of promise lately. The site features IMDB style browse pages, verified torrents, IMDB & Metacritic ratings integration, Libraries, tagged search, organized main index (all torrents for a single movie filed under the same entry), detailed movie description pages and a number of other custom add ons. Both in terms of looks and content, the Swarm boasts several similarities to PassThePopcorn, one of the largest movie repositories currently online. In case you are thinking of signing up for The Swarm, registrations are currently open.

The Swarm Logo

Comparing The Swarm with PTP might be a little unfair since this site is still very young - It still has a long way to go to become a legend in the BT community. However the start The Swarm has had so far is great. As of 3/2/2011, TS tracked over 1100 movie torrents and had a registered user base in excess of 3300 members – good statistics for any start up tracker, even better for a specialized site.

As for the content, there are no surprises – The Swarm is a movies only tracker so expect to find a lot of movies around here . In addition to movies, following content types are also allowed on TS:

  • Music concerts and Stand-Up Comedy - official releases only (i.e. released to DVD, Blu Ray or HD-DVD only).
  • Made-for-TV movies. TV mini-series (but not TV series) may be allowed with staff approval.
  • Documentaries from a specific production company (e.g. BBC or National Geographic) are allowed as long as they are not part of a continuing series. Documentary mini-series may be allowed with staff approval.
  • Sports documentaries MUST be a documentary about the sport, and not just a sport-based video.

The Swarm Index

Keep in mind that The Swarm is not another out of the box Gazelle implementation. This site has its share of custom features, including the very useful movie ratings integration on the main torrent index itself. To know more about TS’s custom features, check out the Rules page and its subsections in full.

Registrations for The Swarm are currently open. We do not know for sure how long the doors would remain open – the site currently has a maximum user limit of 4000 and assuming open signups would continue till this limit is reached, there appears to be room for 650 more new torrenters.

More good news for fans of HD content. It was only a day ago we talked about BD25, a Blu Ray torrent tracker that just opened up. Today’s post is again about another relatively new torrent site focusing on high definition video. Blu Bits is a private tracker that indexes movies, TV shows and documentaries including full, untouched Blu Ray uploads, Remux, BD25 encodes and other video with 1080p, 1080i and 720p quality. Just like most other private trackers of its genre, BB indexes a limited amount of FLAC lossless music in addition to video content. Indexed torrents include scene releases, P2P uploads as well as Blu Bits internal encodes. The site is not exactly brand new and has been online for a couple of months. It has had a decent start so far, both when it comes to recruiting users as well as building a content rich torrent index. If you are interested in joining this community, registrations are currently open.

Blu Bits

Some of you might be hearing about Blu Bits for the first time but judging by the site statistics, it appears to have received a fair bit of publicity so far. Currently there is a registered users bas of around 3500 members and 700+ active torrents can be found in the main index. True, these stats are easily dwarfed when compared with leading HD trackers such as HDbits.org or BIT-HDTV but for a site as young as Blu Bits, they are not bad at all.

As for the content indexed on Blu Bits, it’s all about HD. Movies, TV shows, documentaries and adult material in high definition video formats can be found here. Video formats include untouched Blu Ray encodes, 3D Blu Ray releases (3DBD), BD25 encodes and 1080p, 1080i and 720p video encodes in x264 container. The site tracks both scene and P2P releases as well as some internal encodes exclusive to Blu Bits. Nowadays internal releases have become a unit of measuring value of a HD tracker so it’s good to see BB trying to build this section right from the start.

Blu Bits Index

Blu Bits is built on the xbtit tracker script – the site has all standard features of a private tracker, supports multiple languages and allows skin choosing. However, pages appear to be optimized for a higher resolution so you might have to use the horizontal scroll bars in browser if your display resolution is something less than 1152x864 (non widescreen).

Registrations for Blu Bits are currently open. It’s not known if they would close anytime soon but as of right now, this is a pretty easy tracker to get into.

The influx of new private trackers in 2011 continues – today’s post is about BD25, a new torrent site that just started its operations. BD25 is a private tracker that specializes in Blu Ray releases. The site aims to index a lot of untouched or re-encoded BD25, BD9 and BD5 torrents, focusing on quality over quantity. This is obviously a tracker specializing in movies and it’s currently unknown if it will cater to TV series releases as well. Either way, BD25 is backed by none other than the founder/encoder of EuReKa, a P2P group that released high quality encodes on HD trackers such as Awesome-HD and HD-Torrents. EuReKa is well respected in the BitTorrent scene and needless to say their reputation will help a lot when it comes to recruiting members for this new project. Speaking of recruiting, registrations are currently open and doors will remain open till the 1st of February. Everyone who signs up during this period will receive a whopping 24GB free upload credit :)

BD25 Logo

Officially launched to the public on 24th January, BD25 joins the ranks of other full Blu Ray trackers such as Blu Torrents and 3DBluRayISO. Quoted below is part of an E-mail we received from BD25 staff – this pretty much explains everything about this new site, including the sort of content it tracks, the reasons for starting it and even some technical details about the source base:

Yesterday we started a brand new HD-tracker that's specialized in BD25. The reason for starting a specialized BD25 tracker, is that on general trackers BD25 torrents get overwhelmed by mainly x264 encodes in a Matroska container. By no means this tracker aims to become very big. Our aim is to make this tracker one with only high quality releases and a close-knit community.

The following uploads are allowed:

  • Untouched or re-encoded BD25 disks, with or without menu.
  • Re-encoded BD9 disks, with or without menu.
  • Re-encoded BD5 disks, with or without menu.
  • Audiostreams

BD25.org runs on xbtitFM with a xbtt backend. We are also using the xbtit hosting facilities. xbtitFM is the best and easiest way to setup a complete bittorrent tracker system.
If you're interested in BD25, join us now. Free registration until 1 February 2011 (24 GB signup bonus). After that period you need an invite to join (12 GB signup bonus).

As of right now, there is nothing much to say about the size of BD25’s torrent index. The site has just started and there are only around 10 indexed torrents on tracker – all are BD25 EuReKa encodes, with each weighing over 20GB in file size. This number would surely grow in the coming days as the site gets older. Speaking of the user base, there are already 750+ members registered and more are joining in as the news of launch spreads around the BT community.

Registrations for BD25 are currently open. Signups will remain to be open until 1st of February 2011. And don’t forget that everyone who registers during this period gets 24GB free upload credit. All in all, If you are looking to download a lot of full Blu Ray releases this would definitely be a good tracker to have.

Site Name: BD25 (http://www.bd25.org)

Special thanks to Rabomil (BD25.org owner and founder/encoder of EuReKA) for the heads up.

When the popular movie torrent tracker CN shut down its operations back in last December, everybody thought it was gone for good. But we’ve all been proven wrong – CN has returned, this time under a different identity; The Black Hand (TBH) . TBH retains all major qualities of CN along with its mafia themed look and feel, advanced community features, organizational features and of course, it continues to be a dedicated movie torrent tracker. While the return will no doubt be welcomed by loyal members of CN, there’s some bad news involved as well. The site is restored using a backup that’s a year old – some user accounts, statistics and most of the torrents have been lost. Long time CN members are able to recover their old accounts while others may have to re-apply for an invite. THB invite applications are currently online and everyone including new readers are free to apply.

CN Logo

Back when it went down, CN tracked around 12500 movie torrents of all qualities and sizes. TBH however now has to rebuild the torrent index from scratch. While this would surely take some time, the site appears to be headed towards a speedy recovery - around 1000 movies are already uploaded and a couple hundred new torrents seem to get added every day. To further spice things up, there’s even an upload contest currently ongoing.

Despite being known as a destination for movie torrent downloads, ex-members would know that CN is not all about content. The site had a wide focus on community and featured lots of activities, points systems and bonuses that promoted member activity beyond just downloading movies. TBH retains almost all of these popular additions and we strongly recommend you go through the FAQ (/faq.php) once you join the site – a good summary of site features and how everything works is described in detail there.

Speaking of getting into TBH, you can easily recover your account if you were one of the older members of CN. Keep in mind that the restored backup is over a year old – if your CN account wasn’t older than a year, chances are that it got lost during the transition. In this case, your only choice would be to re-apply for a TBH invite through the online invite applications. Note that invite apps are open to completely new readers as well.

In a world full of General/0Day torrent trackers, the BitTorrent community usually welcomes a specialty tracker with more enthusiasm. TheTorrents (THT) is one such private tracker that focuses on a specific niche – oldies. By oldies we mean old movies, retro TV shows, classic literature, etc. It’s a brand new site and not many torrenters even know of its existence yet. However, THT does index some pretty rare content and some of you might even consider it a hidden gem. Before we forget to mention, this is a ratioless tracker – there are no global upload : download ratio requirements and every activity on site including user promotions are based on total traffic. In case you are interested in signing up, registrations are currently open.

TheTorrents THT Logo

As we said earlier, THT is a very young tracker. It’s only been up for a week and hasn’t had a lot of public exposure yet. However, the site has so far managed to recruit over 1500 members and its torrent index has already surpassed the 500 mark. It’s not a revolution but a very healthy start nevertheless.

What sets THT apart from the thousands of BitTorrent sites out there is its content. True, this is not the first tracker to specialize in oldies but at least it’s not another General/0Day torrent tracker. Anyway note that THT has Romanian origins (.RO is banned from several popular private trackers but they sure do have a lot of torrent sites of their own). Naturally, it indexes a mix of both Romanian and English content. If you are looking to download English releases only, make sure to deselect the ‘Romanesti’ category during a search. Screenshot below shows part of the torrent index – this might give you a better idea on what sort of content you can fund on THT:

THT Index

As for the site interface, it’s by default in Romanian language. You can switch the language to English through the profile page (Go to ‘Profil’ from top bar and set value to English from the drop down menu next to text ‘Limba’).

Registrations for THT are currently open. According to site staff, open signups would continue until the site reaches the user limit of 10000 members. There is plenty of room for everyone so if you are interested, feel free to check this tracker out.

It’s just been two weeks into 2011 and we have already seen the birth of several notable new private torrent trackers this year. The list just continues to grow as XvidMe enters the BT scene – it’s the newest niche tracker on the block and as the name suggests, specializes in movie releases encoded using the popular Xvid codec. Site is just starting up but its aim is to become *the* place on the internet to find and download 700MB/1.4GB movie releases. XvidMe is not the first private tracker to try the Xvid-only formula – several similar sites have existed before, such as the likes of 700m.Bz and SceneXvid. None of these trackers are around today so that makes XvidMe the only specialized Xvid tracker currently online. With Xvid codec still popular and widely in use, XvM has a good potential to succeed if they play their cards right.

XvidMe Logo

Needless to say XvidMe is a very young torrent tracker. It’s just been online for four days and hasn’t had any exposure to the public yet. There are currently around ~150 Xvid movies uploaded to the tracker (statistics as of 1/19/2011 – these are bound to increase as the site gains more popularity). It runs on a customized version of TBDEV codebase and has all standard features of a private tracker including forums, a requests section, category based search, a ratio system, etc.

As for the content on XvM, it’s pretty much self explanatory. Currently the site is a movies only tracker, with all uploads encoded in Xvid format. Releases are categorized into various movie genres such as Action, Adventure, Comedy, War, etc and are searchable from the main index. A screenshot of part of the torrent index can be seen below:

XvidMe Index

Signups for XvM are currently open. Currently there are only around 125 registered members but this will soon go up as the tracker gains more publicity via blogs like this and via BitTorrent news forums. If you are interested, check it out.

When it comes to new movie releases, 3D is the new buzzword. Nowadays, almost every new epic movie opens up with a 3D version. In a world where there are BitTorrent trackers for almost every niche, it wouldn’t be a surprise if a tracker specializing in 3D content didn’t exist.  3DBluRayISO is one such private community focused on sharing 3D videos. As you may have guessed from the name, the site focuses mainly on untouched Blu Ray ISO images of 3D movies but that’s not all it has. It has x264 encodes of retail movies (usually a HD source is used), TV rips, movie trailers as well as tutorials, technical guides, FAQs to help get 3D working in your home theatre/PC setup. 3DBluRayISO is a hybrid of a private torrent tracker and a DDL forum – registrations are currently open.

3D BluRay ISO

3DBluRayISO is a relatively new forum but the site has managed to gain a significant amount of popularity amongst the BitTorrent community. It’s only been online for a couple of weeks but has already recruited over 6500 members which is quite an achievement considering the niche 3DBRI focuses on. There are nearly 2000 threads with ~200 active torrents (tracked by their own private tracker) and a couple hundred more movies releases with DDL links (files hosted in MegaupLoad, HotFile, NetLoad, FileServe, etc).

Content on this site is rather uncommon and chances are that you won’t find these encodes on the average general tracker. Bulk of the indexed content are untouched 3D Blu Ray ISO images. While these have excellent video quality and all special Blu Ray features in tact, they are also massive in file size – the average ISO image weighs around 40GB. These encodes can be played back on most current PC/Home Theater setups, but you might need additional hardware to enjoy the full 3D experience (refer to 3D Tutorial section for more info). In case you are still unsure about the type of content tracked by 3DBluRayISO, the screenshot below should give you a pretty clear understanding:

3DBluRayISO Index

As mentioned earlier, 3DBRI is currently open for registrations. If I read their tagline correctly (“Online 3D sharing community with no exclusive BS”), they have no intention to become one of those l33t sites inaccessible by general internet population. Anyways if you love watching 3D Blu Ray movies in their full glory, check this site out.

It’s not everyday you see the launch of a specialized private tracker for Horror Movies and TV Shows. In fact, there are only a handful such trackers around, with live examples being The Horror Charnel (THC) and Henteles.Hu (Signups open). Horror-World is the latest torrent site to join this club – and yeah, as you might have guessed its dedicated to tracking all things Horror, including movies, film stills, soundtracks to electronic books relating to this genre. Built on TS Special Edition 7.1 codebase, HW is a private tracker that’s just starting up. Some of you would be glad to know that this isn’t one of those super secret sites closed to the public – signups are currently open and everyone is able to create a free account. If you like Horror movies, check this out.

Horror World

Horror World is only a few weeks old so don’t expect to join a tracker that has 50k members and 100k torrents. Additionally, this is a niche site meaning it would have much less number of torrents than your average General/0Day tracker. Nevertheless, HW is off to a pretty good start and currently tracks around 500 active torrents and has managed to amass a registered user base of 475+ members (statistics as of 10/20/2010).

As for the content available on H-W, it’s not just horror movies and TV shows. Movie soundtracks and electronic books (including audio books) relating to the genre are also indexed. Right now there aren’t a lot of these non-movie torrents available but presence of separate tracker categories would mean there are plans to add more of these in future. As for the movies, they come in a number of different video qualities ranging from BRRips, DVDRips, R5 to VHSRips. Both new movies as well as older releases are indexed. The screenshot below should give you a better understanding of what to expect on Horror-World.

Horror World Index

Signups for H-W are currently open. In fact, they’ve been always open ever since the site’s launch about one and a half months ago. If you like Horror themed video and audio content, check this tracker out.

Ever since it saw the light several years ago, the DivX/Xvid video codecs have been hugely popular, especially among those who download movies and TV shows over file sharing networks. However, with the advent of higher fidelity encoders such as x264, some argue that the Xvid format is dying. But if you look at download statistics on most private torrent trackers, you’d see that the number of downloads for Xvid encodes of a release still greatly outnumber x264 encodes or untouched DVD/Blu Ray versions. In other words, Xvid still alive and kicking. TinBoxTorrent is a brand new private tracker that attempts to utilize the popularity of Xvid encodes – it’s a site that mainly caters to Xvid movies and TV shows with the main focus on BRRip and BDRip releases. TBT is probably the first site to prioritize or these relatively new Blu Ray rip formats and it starts out as a ratio free tracker. The site is still new but it definitely has the potential to succeed.

TinBoxTorrent

This is probably the first time you hear about TinBoxTorrents – it’s only been a few days since the launch (opened on 25th September 2010) and it hasn’t received any media attention so far on BitTorrent forums and blogs. Currently there are only 78 registered members on the tracker but this number is expected to go up once this article goes live and as the news of TBT spreads around the BitTorrent community.

The amount of torrents however is a different story. TBT starts off with around 275 active torrents. It appears that these torrents are seedbox hosted and has decent download speeds. Uploaders will however need to improve the rate which new torrents are added to the tracker (we know, this is easier said than done). As mentioned earlier, TBT is a movie/TV tracker with both Xvid and HD video formats including x264 encodes. Their ultimate goal seems to become a tracker which specializes in BRRip and BDRip torrents. A screenshot of  part of the the torrent index can be seen below:

TinBoxTorrent Index

According to the site’s owner, TBT starts off without ratio rules in a bid to promote the tracker. They might however switch to a ratio based model later – even so, we are told that site wide free leech will be activated for at least 7 days every month.

Signups for TBT are currently open. All newly registered members will get 5 freeleech slots, 1 invite and 200 bonus points upon signup. As for closing comments, this clearly isn’t a site that can challenge the movie repositories of TL, IPT or PTP yet – but it definitely is off to a good start and as we said earlier, has the potential to succeed.

If you’ve been reading us for some time you probably have read about PTN, a ratio free private torrent tracker for movies. And if you have read about PTN, you are likely to have read about PTN v2, the major site overhaul that’s been on the cards for some time :) Good news is that PTN v2 is now finally live – has the wait been worth it? Short answer is Yes. So much has changed in v2 that PTN now looks like an entirely new site. From browse pages to notification windows to category icons, virtually everything has changed. And it’s not just the new visual layout and new themes that are highlights of the new version, the site’s coders have managed to put together some useful, interesting new features into the mix as well (which is a good thing). Another notable change is that from now on PTN will become a pure movie torrent tracker – TV shows are no longer allowed on site after v2 launch.

PTN Logo

There’s an entire forum section dedicated to explaining the new features (along with screenshots) introduced in PTN v2. Below is a summarized list of features compiled using the information available in this forum. In some cases, we directly quoted the feature descriptions on PTN as there really was no way of explaining it better:

  • Faster load times and on-the-fly-searches - The browse page was entirely re-designed and it now loads, navigates and searches faster.
  • Browse by Torrents/Movies - You can now browse by Movies, which allows you to easily find and download torrents using a movies context rather than the usual torrents context. If you don’t like the new layout, the old list based layout is still available.
  • Movie details page – A single page capturing all available information about a particular movie including  Movie Information, Directors Information, Actors Information, Images - Thumbnails, Posters and Banners, Trailers, Torrents, Soundtracks, Other movies you might like, Tags, References & subscriptions
  • Director details page – A single page capturing all available information about a particular director including Director details and links, Director 's movies in PtN and Director 's Filmography with direct link
  • Action details page – Lists all available information related to a particular actor including Actor details and links, Actor's movies in PtN and Actor's Filmography with direct link
  • Compression (RAR’d and UNRAR’d torrents) - compression notation has been added to allow uploaders to mark their releases as rared/unrared. An "Unrared torrent" icon will then appear next to unrared torrents in the browse page.
  • New visual elements -  For those of you who use a 1280x720 resolution or higher two new wide-screen styles have been added: v2 Blue & v2 Grey. For those of you who use lower resolutions - a new v2 Black theme has been added.
To better utilize the space, the use panel has been narrowed down and the site's links have been moved to a new panel on the left side of the screen.
A Movie of the Week section has also been added to the left side panel.
A new right side panel has been added to hold the site notifications (message, announcements, etc...) This panel will only be visible when there are notifications.
  • Tags - Tags allow you too add words or phrases that best describe a movie. Tagging a movie will later allow other users to search/find that movie by running a search that is indirectly related to the Torrent/Movie information. This allows much easier search and to easily find movie by interest rather than by category and name.
For example: Adding the tag "Boxing" to the movie "Million Dollar Baby" will allow users to find this movie when searching for a boxing movie.
  • Subscriptions - Subscriptions allows you to automatically receive a notification when certain torrent qualities has been released for a specific movie. Subscriptions can save you that lazy browsing, looking for a good quality release for a movie that you would like to see. In the future, you will be able to subscribe to a movie even if no release of that movie even exists.
  • Category Icons - You can now choose your preferred category icons through your profile page (In the Torrents section). You can also select the default categories that you would like to view in the browse page and movie details page. Torrents are strongly bounded into movies now (Or to multiple movies). Torrent/Movies can now have multiple categories, these categories are set automatically when the movie's data is retrieved. You can also manually add/remove categories from a movie. Searching by categories - If a movie has the categories Drama & Comedy. Filtering out Comedies will not make the torrent/movie invisible. Only when Comedies and Dramas are filtered out, the torrent/movie will become invisible.
  • Filtering -  Movies and Torrents can be now filtered using Name, Year, Rating, Language and ofcuz.
  • Bookmarks - The bookmarks view was incorporated into the main browse page.

As you can see it’s a long list of features. Below is a screenshot of the new ‘Browse by movies’ view on PTN, which is without a doubt one of the most notable new additions to the site:

Browse By Movies View
In movies view mode, this is how movies are listed in the main index (this is not the torrent description page, which is much more detailed). If you prefer the old list based view, you can switch to it using the top toolbar.

And the screenshot below showcases the new main toolbar and search box, through which you can instantly change the look and feel of the torrent index:

PTN Toolbar

There are tons more new features but we obviously can’t include screenshots of all of them  - to read more about them in detail, login to the site and browse the PTN v2 forums – each feature has its own thread and you can find detailed information about a particular feature along with screenshots.

Signups for PTN v2 are currently closed and so are the online invite applications. Invite apps were open just a month ago (prior to v2 launch) and most of our readers should have got in when we announced this in the blog. In case you haven’t got in yet, don’t lose hope as PTN have been recruiting on a regular basis and there is a possibility that invite applications will open again in future (although we cannot tell when).

These are definitely good times for movie buffs. Yesterday we reported about CN re opening invite applications in a fresh new recruitment spree and today we have PTN, another specialized movie torrent tracker opening their invite applications to external users. PTN has been doing this from time to time but it’s been a while since they last allowed the public to apply for invites. PTN’s invite apps work a lot similar to others – users are able to fill the form and submit it online. If approved by staff, they are sent an invite that’ll lead them into the torrent tracker. This would be a great time for new users to join as double upload (dubbed 2X Upload Raid) is currently active throughout the site. PTN is a private tracker based on a total traffic model, and there is no ratio system present unlike in most similar private trackers. The site is expected to get many new features and is planned to go through a complete overhaul during the impending launch of PTN v2.

PTN Logo

Now we’ve posted about PTN numerous times on this blog – it wouldn’t make much sense to repeat the same detailed information here. Listed below are some of PTN site features in point form, if you seek more details and screenshots, we strongly recommend you read the full review located here.

  • Ratio free- PTN is ratio free. The site is based on a ‘Total Traffic’ system and a ‘Gold’ based bonus system. You can read more on how these work in the FAQ.
  • Internal encodes and exclusive releases – PTN has its own internal encoding group SKALiWAGZ. Plus, they have a lot of exclusive movie packs indexed as well.
  • Seedbox hosted torrents – Some torrents on PTN are seedbox hosted and have fast download speeds. These have a special icon next to their name in the torrent index.
  • Enhanced torrents – Torrents with gold upload multipliers, random category bonuses, staff picks, etc generate more gold when seeded back.
  • Multiple torrent browse pages – One each for movies, TV shows and official soundtracks (OST)
  • Requests system
  • Community – PTN is a community based tracker There is a lot of activity in the site’s forums.
  • Gold shop and DiAMOND shop – These places where you can exchange bonus points with upload credit and/or to unlock additional site features
  • Extras such as Arcade, Pirate galleries, Pirate's notes box and Blackjack
  • Heavily customized tracker script with a unique look and feel

A screenshot of PTN’s torrent index can be found below. The yellow colored icons next to a torrent’s name are special features activated for that particular torrent. Hover your mouse pointer over an icon (in PTN index) to see what they mean.

PTN Index

PTN currently tracks over 13500 torrents and has a user base close to 3000. They however do need more members – there are a lot of dead torrents indexed here. The open invite applications should help bring in some good members into the tracker. Invite apps will be open for three days – an announcement on site reads:

Are you ready?
Tick Tock Tick Tock.....
Better get your friends in here.......the moment is approaching!!!!!
Apps open for 3 days....

I’m not sure but the ‘the moment is approaching’ quote in above message could well be a reference to the impending launch of PTN v2. Either way you can now apply for an invite and check the site out yourself if you manage to get in.

Site Name: PTN

Invite Applications URL: http://*********.***/comeandplay.php (do not use ‘www’ in the address)

Note: Posting of full tracker URL is prohibited by tracker rules. We are sorry about the inconvenience.

There are many BitTorrent trackers up and about that cater for rare and obscure movies. A few examples of such sites would be Cinematik, Secret Cinema, Karagarga and Gormogon. Although not talked about a lot, one of the newcomers into this particular niche is I Love Classics (ILC). Well, it’s not exactly a brand new site as the tracker’s almost an year old. The important fact is that ILC has continued to grow at a steady pace throughout the past twelve or so months and has now evolved into a tracker that indexes over 10000 movies. If you are a fan of classic, rare, obscure, hard to find movies & TV shows, I Love Classics could be what you are looking for. This site is currently open for registrations but this is bound to change with their upcoming first anniversary. The tracker going invite only and becoming a closed community will be preceded by a week long site-wide free leech period.

I love Classics.

It’s not easy for classic movie/TV trackers to add new content – as you may know majority of indexed torrents in most private trackers are scene releases. Although the scene pres a lot of new movies and TV shows, releases of classic content are not-so-common and infrequent. Therefore, torrent trackers (or DDL forums) that specialize in these areas have to index a lot of P2P originated content, home encodes and user submitted stuff in order to grow. So far, ILC has handled this daunting task pretty well. Currently there are over 12000 indexed torrents – and a lot of them unique to ILC.

Type of content you can find on I Love Classics include both movies and TV shows. Don’t expect to find latest films such as Kick Ass or Iron Man 2 here :p . However you will be able to download a lot of retro flicks from the 1910s, 1920s, 1970s and so on. A lot of full season torrents of classic TV series are also available. Movies and TV shows are available in different video qualities – these range from TVRips, DVDRips to even Blu Ray rips. A screenshot capturing part of ILC’s torrent index may be found here:

I Love Classics Index

Ever since it’s launch ILC has been open to the public so getting into the site was not a problem. However according to administrators this will soon change with the tracker’s upcoming 1st anniversary. Apart from going invite only, several new rules to crack down on inactive users and collectors will also be introduced:

Notice to all Members
After the coming free leech, ILC will stop being open sign-up and go invitation only.
The staff will then start deleting accounts of all members that:

  • Stop their torrents upon completion (hit and run).
  • Continually ignore re-seed requests.
  • Don't seed any torrents, except 3 temporarily to allow a new download.
  • Accounts where the person has never downloaded a torrent, and not visited the site for 3 months or more. Both have to be true (downloaded AND visited) for these accounts to be deleted. If you've visited the site within the last 3 months, but never downloaded anything, your account is safe.

If you fall into one of those categories above, consider this your first and only warning. If you value your account here, this is your last chance to change your ways. If you don't, your account will be deleted and you'll never get back into this site again.
After this time, all remaining members (the sharers) will get a few invites given to them.

12,000 Torrents Birthday Celebration
To celebrate ILC's 1 year birthday and the uploading of our 12,000th torrent, everything on site will be free-leech. This will start on the 21st of May 11.59PM GMT and end on the 28th of May 11.59PM GMT.

If you still aren’t a member of this tracker (we have featured this site in the past), now would be a great sign up for an account. The site’s max user limit is set to 5000 and currently there are 3800+ registered members (roughly 1200 slots left). The upcoming free leech should help you get a head start by helping boost your ratio.

After some time, here is a specialized movie torrent tracker for you BitTorrent fans. FilmBits is a private tracker that indexes untouched DVDs and Blu-Ray disks of latest movies and television shows. Based on SweDVDR’s codebase, FilmbBits boasts a clean look and feel, faster navigation and an overall well organized layout. Note that bulk of the DVDR and Blu Ray releases found on this site are those released for the Nordic region. However, English speaking users need not worry about this factor – almost all of the torrents have English audio & it’s only the optional subtitle streams that are changed based on region. In case you were wondering, most of the DVDR releases found on this tracker conform to PAL standard.

FilmBits

Although you don’t see BitTorrent invite forums being filled with invite requests for FilmBits and their discussion threads overflowing with queries about this tracker, it has in fact done pretty well compared with most other sites (especially newer ones) in its league. FB has so far managed to recruit 1600+ users and at the same time added over 2000 torrents to it’s ever growing index. Although the user count may seem a little low, seeder/leecher activity on torrents is pretty good on this site with most of the torrents having a longer than usual lifetime.

As said above FilmBits is full for DVDR and Blu Ray releases for Nordic region (both movies and TV shows). You won’t find many XViD rips here as the focus is mostly on untouched disks that come complete with multiple subtitle/audio streams, special features, full DVD menus, etc. Uploaded movies/TV shows include both scene and non scene releases. Once again, keep in mind that DVDR for the Nordic region does not mean it comes dubbed with a non English audio stream – it’s usually the optional subtitle streams that are new (you can usually check this on a torrent’s detailed descriptions page) .

FilmBits index

One big turn off for English speaking users however would be the site language – it defaults to Norwegian and cannot be changed at any point of time. You’ll be able to find your way without a translator but if worse comes to worse, use the auto translate option in Google Chrome as an aid.

Signups for FilmBits are currently open. Following notices (translated) are displayed on site homepage about the open registration:

2010-04-28 - People who are so stupid and makes more than 1 account and believe we do not detect this – they will only stay on this site until May 2.
2010-04-26 - Film Bits will hold a final open signup from 28 April to 2 May at: 23.59
2010-04-26 - Last time with open signup and freeleech on filmbits.net - signup closes Sunday

Right now there are plenty of free slots remaining so go ahead and check it out.

By now, probably all of our regular readers might have read about AvistaZ (AZ). For those of you don’t know wtf that is, it’s a specialized movie torrent tracker that focuses on films from countries in the Asian region. With a huge user base and a rich content library, AZ has become one of the most successful trackers in the BT community. Good news for movie fans is that the experienced crew behind AvistaZ recently rolled out euTorrents, their sister site which is also a movie private tracker. euTorrents focuses on flicks from the European region and it’s already showing signs of making it to the ‘must have’ trackers list of every movie collector.

euTorrents

Within just a few days after launch, euTorrent statistics are looking pretty good. The site currently has 1700+ users and 350+ torrents (as of 3/31/2010). Expect these statistics rise sharply as news about the tracker spreads. Additionally, it’s user base would definitely get a boost from existing members at AvistaZ who’d no doubt want to check this site out too.

Just like AvistaZ, euTorrent’s main strength is the unique content it tracks. It’s not just another movie tracker – the site indexes movies that are not readily available on regular trackers or even in other dedicated movie trackers. Among the movies you can find on this site are Dannish, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Swiss and Turkish flicks. Expect a lot more rare gems from these countries to be uploaded in the future. And it’s not just old movies that will get indexed at euTorrent – new titles (even those released on 2009/2010) will also be uploaded. A screenshot of euT’s torrent index may be seen below:

euTorrents Index

Just like most new private trackers, euTorent seems to be using the help of social media services to expand and to communicate with it’s members. They maintain their own release blog through which detailed information about new movie uploads are given and a Twitter account that automatically Tweets about new additions to the index.

Signups for euTorrent are currently open. Registration is free and is mandatory if you are to download torrents from the tracker. If you are on the lookout for movies from European countries, go ahead and check this site out.

In the meantime, euTorrents’s sister site AvistaZ is currently open for registration as well. You can read all about it here and sign up through the URL given at the end of that post.

It’s a well known fact that Romania is home to a large number of private torrent trackers. However, almost every new Romanian tracker launched nowadays seem to be a General/0-day tracker – in other words most of these sites have more or less the same content with little variety. The Roman Empire (TRE) is a site that tries to change this trend – it’s a Romanian tracker but it’s not another zero day site. TRE specializes in classic content which includes retro movies, foreign movies, films made in Hollywood’s classic film noir period and even music videos that date back more than a few years. TRE is not exactly a brand new tracker and has been online for a few months – signups are open for those who are interested in becoming members.

The Roman Empire

The Roman Empire is not a huge torrent site. However, it’s not a tiny, unknown ghost town either. Currently there are 2500+ registered members and the torrent index is decently sized (for a niche tracker) with around 1450 torrents. There is however a little concern when it comes to the addition of new daily torrents – there haven’t been many added in the past couple of weeks. Let’s hope this is only a temporary gripe.

As mentioned earlier, The Roman Empire focuses more on classic content. A variety of movies may be found here, ranging from those produced in the 1930s to the mid 2000s. A mix of English and non English (French, German etc) movies are available. The ~1000 movie torrents are categorized into nearly 50 different categories. Apart from movies, TRE indexes music videos, documentaries as well as some music.

TRE Index

TRE comes with the usual set of features of a private tracker such as a seed bonus system, a requests section, forums and more. There is a link to an internal image hosting service as well but this does not appear to be functional as of now.

Signups for TRE are currently open. If you are looking for a classic or foreign content tracker check this out – TRE may not be the best in this niche but still a decent site.

There've been quite a few horror movie trackers featured on this blog – this includes smaller sites such as the now defunct ScareThe.Net to leaders in the niche such as The Horror Charnel (THC) - if memory serves correct, we even did several invite giveaways for THC sometime back. If the previously mentioned trackers were not enough to fill your thirst for horror movies, here’s another one -  the site we’re going to talk about today, Henteles, is another private tracker specializing in horror movies, TV shows and even games with violent content (yay!). It’s a relatively new entrant to this niche but is well worth trying out if you are into Horror, cult and sleaze genres. With its roots in Hungary, Henteles tracks both Hungarian and English content.

Henteles

Launched not too long ago, this site has already attracted a reasonable number of registered users – currently there are close to 3500 members which is a pretty good statistic for a niche tracker. Their torrent index too has grown during the first few weeks since launch and currently Henteles tracks close to 1000 active torrents.

As mentioned above, all indexed torrents on Henteles relate to the Horror genre. This includes TV shows, movies and horror themed games. Note that some of the available releases are dubbed in Hungarian – however, you can easily identify English and Hungarian torrents separately by filtering using the categories (press the ‘Kategoriak’ button on browse page to view list of categories). A screenshot of some of the English releases found on Henteles is given below:

Henteles index

Henteles is based on the TBDEV tracker script but it’s customized to give the site a darker look and feel. Some of you might find the customizations fitting to a horror tracker but some might find the interface to be cluttered and less organized. Additionally, interface language defaults to Hungarian and there is no way to change is to English – while non Hungarian users will still manage to navigate the site just fine, it’d have been nice to have an English language option as well.

Henteles is currently open for registrations. Assuming they are to remain open till the current max user limit is reached, there are around 4000 free slots remaining. If you are looking for a new Horror tracker, check this site out.
