If you haven’t heard, TorrenTiT is shutting down. If it makes things any less painful, it’s not because of legal issues - there were no raids and no one got arrested. However the tracker was hit by internal disputes (which we do not like to discuss in detail here) and it seems TiT will close down for good. While it’s definitely a sad tale for the users of this Gazelle based General/0Day tracker, what’s been amazing is the response to this news by other private trackers - Nearly 15 other private BitTorrent sites and BitTorrent forums have come forth to offer existing TorrenTiT members a new home. Sites involved range from specialized movie trackers such as PtN to general trackers like RevolutionTT.

Torrentit_thumb%5B2%5D[1]

First of all, these offers are only valid for existing TorrenTiT members (expect for some which are open to all). Requirements to get into each site varies but in almost all cases you are required to show and un-edited screenshot of your TorrenTiT profile. Below is a summarized list of trackers that offer invites to TiT members. We’ve linked to some of our older posts which contain more information about these sites for your convenience.

EDIT: List of sites have been removed. Although we did not reveal any of the exclusive links, IRC channel details or signup URLs, TiT admins did not like the fact we went public with the info (check comments). We apologize for any confusion this post may have caused.

No matter how many replacements are there, it’s always sad to see a BitTorrent tracker close down. TorrenTiT was/is the home of nearly 10000 members and tracked nearly 6000 active torrents at the time this post is written. Although many do not know, TiT has a lot of history behind it. It was originally known as 123torrents and was launched back in 2004. They had a great run as a private tracker but soon ran into BREIN, the Dutch anti piracy group. In 2005 they lost the 123torrents domain and by mid 2006, the site was entirely shut down due to continuous pressure from BREIN. After a long wait TiT returned in September 2008, this time running on Gazelle codebase pioneered by What.CD.

Whats the purpose of posting this unless you are hoping people who arent TiT members can get in at these sites? Obviously all TiT members have this info on the site... why would you make this public...

All its going to do it cause sites to STOP offering invites people, because they know now they will be flooded with other people trying to get in. Way to ruin something good. Trackers start banding together, and you guys have to go and screw it up.

I'm sure all the TiT members who were the ones this offer was made to, are going to be very appreciative of you going public... when these trackers stop giving out invites because you've made the news public.

Brilliant on your parts. I'll likely be pulling the entire thread down shortly, thanks to asshats who can't let good members have their just rewards.

Almost all the trackers mentioned here except PWT, FF and the pron trackers with open signups have good relations with FILEnetworks and we have posted entire articles about them on this blog with their staff's consent.
Besides, what's made public here? It's just links to a bunch of reviews and a list of sites and of course the news of TiT shutdown. As said on post special signup URLs and email addresses are not revealed.
Why we posted here is that we have a lot of readers who are also TiT members. Not everyone checks the forums and not everyone visits all their torrent sites everyday.

List of sites has been removed. Apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Did you have TiT's consent to post this private announcement to their member base openly on the internet?

I understand that you post some stuff with their consent, but if you do stuff like this without staff consent, you're going to find yourself not having good relations anymore.

Repsect for the Blog taking down the links, sadly I think the damage may be done. The Site was going to closein like a week... however it looks like Admin closed the site today.

"Did you have TiT's consent to post this private announcement to their member base openly on the internet? "

We usually do ask tracker admins before posting but unfortunately in this case No we didnt. We have already apologized for that.
But please keep in mind we merely posted the news that other trackers are offering invites to TiT members (and then a link to a forum thread on TiT which required login). We did not 'leak' any of the private information that made a signup possible.

We have driven a lot of readers to TiT in the past couple of months:

We have thousands of TiT members who are readers of this blog and we thought the information may have benefited them. That's the sole reason why we posted this article.

I do not know if what file networks did was right or wrong by posting that information but as a sysop of a fairly well known tracker, i can tell you that FNB is one of the few sites that are NOT run by assholes or asshats. Our site has been featured in many public blogs/sites/forums and so far FNB remains to be the only site that sought our opinion before posting.

hats off for taking down those links anyway. im sure most other sites wouldnt have given two shits about what a tracker admin had to say. Keep up the good work at the same time be careful with the inside information you have (i am sure you have lots of it :p).

As for TiT it's sad to see this tracker go. Kudos to all other trackers that offered invites though.

These torrent news sites are a plague to the BT community. They'll post anything and everything; whatever it takes to get people to come to their sites and click their advertisement links to make money.

  21. Unknown // 1/14/2010 04:27:00 AM

Seriously guys, what's with all the bitching at FN? Get a grip people, this is not the end of the world as we know it.

Nothing of importance was leaked and the information is out there that TiT is closing anyway, so what exactly have they done wrong?

If there was a miscommunication then that's fine and it appears to have been sorted and apologies made. I saw no problem with the original post in the first place.

You people bitching and trolling need to chill and take a reality check. It is NOT important.
